As you remember, three months ago, this is after an air canada jet caused a close call here at sfo. Here we go again. This time, the federal Aviation Administration says flight 781 was cleared to land on runway 28r by air traffic control. Then, 781 was told to execute a go around because atc was unsure that the runway would be cleared in time. Within 30 seconds, the flight crew was told to go around six times, but the tower never got a response. That prompted an airport supervisor to use a red light gun to alert the crew. 781 go around. Air canada 781 go around. Canada 781 go around. Back in july, you may remember a similar incident like this happening when an air canada pilot almost landed on the taxi way. Coming within seconds of crashing with two other planes. The plane landed safely and avoided the collision. In regards to sunday nights event, air canada released a statement. Upon landing, the crew was informed the tower had attempted unsuccessfully to contact the aircraft. However, the message was not received by the crew. Air canada is investigating the circumstances. After flight 781 landed safely and only after the landing did they finally get in touch with the tower and say that they were having radio problems. The faa is now investigating. Near sfo, jackie ward, kpix5. Los Angeles Police saying the fire sent thick smoke over the area forcing traffic to stop on a major freeway. Two cars were also damaged by the brush fires. Crews got the fires under control within an hour. Fire danger is a concern all over the state right now, including here in the bay area as we see unseasonal heat from San Francisco on inland, to dublin. Its hot and its dry out there. And they are currently discussing housing policies to help the hundreds of displaced residents who lost their homes in the wild fires. Now they are considering two options on the table at this moment. One is actually allowing people to sleep in rvs or guest houses and the second one is putting a temporary freeze on rental property, hoping that those rental properties, Vacation Rental properties go to some of these displaced residents. Thousands of homes destroyed. Now thousands of residents scrambling to find a place to live. The wine country fires compasser baiting the housing crisis here. It was bad. Its gotten worse and were seeingridiculous posts of people seeking 7, 8, 20,000 a month for housing. The Sonoma CountyDistrict Attorney says her office will go after landlords and contractors preying on fire victims. The protections are found within the law. So, if people are concerned that the law is being broken, they need to contact us. We are definitely looking at a multiyear process. I mean, its going to take months to perform the base level cleanup to make sure that the sites are free of toxins and are stable to be rebuilt on. State agencies are leading the cleanup efforts. Property owners must sign waivers, allowing the government to haul away their debris. Those who clean up themselves could be ineligible for government reimbursements.
