Deputies are investigating a murder in Contra Costa County. They found a womans body on a dirt road. She is identified as 49year old aleli avila. She was last seen on august 18. She is from San Francisco but her friends told investigators she was headed to Contra Costa County. Now they are trying to find her route to see how she got to byron. If you know anything, call the Contra Costa County sheriffs tip line. In the north bay, some students are scrambling for a ride to class after their long time bus driver retired. Their rural marin County District has been forced to suspend bus service because nobody has applied for the job. Kpix 5s john ramos breaks down the hurdles making it tough for anybody to take the wheel. Reporter at Lagunitas School in rural west marin county, the longtime bus driver retired over the summer. The district knowing it was coming advertised the position clear back in april. But they were surprised what happened. Or, rather, what didnt. Havent gotten any applicants. Reporter so two weeks before school started, parents were told the bad news. There would be no school bus because they cant find anyone who will take the job. School bus drivers dont get paid well. Its a split shift, two hours in the morning, two hours in the afternoon. The testing and licensing requirements for School Bus Driver is extremely difficult to get through. Reporter as safety regulations have increased over the years, so has the time it takes to be licensed to drive a school bus. 20 hours of class time and 20 hours behind the wheel with a qualified trainer. The whole process can be expensive and takes several months to complete. Im glad there are really strict rules on who can drive a school bus because those are, you know, 45 to 50 childrens lives in that one persons hands. Reporter but its also why districts across the state are having trouble replaces drivers. At lagunitas kids are biking or walking. In this rural area, many live miles from the school so parents are scrambling to organize carpools. The district trustee says it is a serious matter because the days of every house having a stayathome parent are gone. Everybody in the family needs to work and they need to have two jobs, two incomes, coming in, and that means that the children sometimes leave the house after the parents.
