Not distinguishable from hundreds of other meetings that i have had with people that want to do business if the city. Reporter what was your reaction to learning that the fbi had used undercover agents to funnel money into your campaign . Well, this is an allegation. We dont know that for a fact. Weve checked every donation that we have. Reporter have the feds ever gently contacted you or your campaign . No they have not. We have been preactive saying is there something we should Pay Attention to . Its been silent. Theres no guarantee he is not still under investigation but at this point they must not think they have enough evidence or they would have charged him. It looked like there was smoke but it wasnt coming directly from him. We dont have all the conversations and not enough to tell. Reporter thats one of the points. What we have are snippets of various fbi wiretaps either on the phone or being rented warned by undercover agents. We want to point out that no one has been charged with anything illegal at this point but the question remains, this meeting with the mayor was taped like all these other meetings. Reporter we are at webster and seal in palo alto. Thats just off of middlefield road. Of course a very busy road in palo alto. Lets show you what we see here. We have the Santa Clara County sheriffs bomb squad on the scene. The latest update is they are trying to determine what the correct course of action is at this point. What we do to is that a homeowner on this street apparently found a box of world war ii era grenades and also mortars while cleaning out his garage at some point this afternoon. He actually took those mortars and grenades and moved them on to his driveway before he had any idea what it was that he was dealing with. Again, apparently these items a vintage of world war ii. At some point the sheriff and the Police Department were both called in. What they have done is they have evacuated obviously the resident and homes on either side. We are told that other residents in this area have been personally advised to shelter in place. That means officers have actually gone to the individuals homes that they want to stay in the home and have told those individuals to shelter in place. So what that means for residents in this area is if the Police Department has not come to your house and hasnt told you to shelter in place there are no additional shelter in place orders being issued so at this point we are waiting to see what the bomb squad does. Everybody is here palo alto fire is here, the sheriffs bomb squad is here, the Palo Alto Police are here and at this point, as far as we know, the actual mortars and grenades have not been moved. Well keep you posted. Thats the story live in palo alto. Im mark sayre, kpix 5. Veronica . Mark, thank you, we appreciate it, thanks. Some fires are threatening homes and lives while others burn in hardtoreach rugged wilderness but altogether, we have a fire season thats on track to burn through half the annual budget of the National Forest service. The resources to fight these fires is not unlimited. Theres only so many bulldozers aircraft and personnel available. So someone somewhere is deciding which fire gets what. So who is that person . Meet chris, he is the acting Deputy Director for fire and aviation in the Pacific Southwest for the national service, a big title, big job, extremely busy, for the National Forest service. I was getting messages of lightning on the angeles National Forest. Reporter he leads a team of agencies, cal fire, bureau of indiana affairs, even the pentagon, just to name a few, that prioritizes every morning who gets what based on the threat level. When either our firefighters, the public, are physically threatened by fire, thats one of the that is highest priority. Property comes next. Our Natural Resources and infrastructure follow after that. Reporter that means a fire in rugged terrain wilderness while still being attacked vigorously will not get the same resources as a fire closing in on a community. Which makes sense.
