Paving is also being done on the median and sides of the road. As one person overseeing the work put it, we dont want cars falling off the road. Most of the work will be completed this weekend but there will be a few more closures but not like this one. After this threeday closure there will still be a few months of construction before we really get done on the main line so there will be nighttime closures. Theres nighttime work that has to be done because we cannot complete the roadway in this three days. The striping is expected to start sometime tomorrow. For a look at how the closure is affecting traffic in San Francisco this weekend, heres gianna franco. Reporter if you are working your way into San Francisco, you are going to be late for dinner. We have major delays out of marin county. You can see in our live shot of the Golden Gate Bridge here, those delays begin well before the waldo tunnel. Very slow upwards of 30, 35 minutes to work your way down to the toll plaza there. So again this is our busier spot. Southbound side. Northbound no delays. Just a few cars on the roadway. But big problem Park Presidio boulevard several other delays extending through that on that southbound side. Northbound not bad. Alternates, Richmond San Rafael bridge, you can use. We are seeing some delays eastbound. Thats for people going to the eastshore freeway or looks like that westbound eastshore freeway backed up as a result and the bay bridge seeing a backup as well for extra volume. You can see very busy there. Backed up into the maze. Metering lights are on. If you want to skip the bay bridge and youre commuting out of the east bay to avoid the delays, use the san mateo bridge or you can always use bart. I know everything is on time but that should be extended for the next few hours. It will be busy in San Francisco. Thank you, gianna. I have a great alternate to the traffic. It was a Beautiful Day for a ferry ride around the closure. And a lot of people came on board today including myself. We took advantage of the ferries to get into San Francisco. They have added service. Golden gate ferry added boats today to accommodate all the crowds. The numbers for today arent in yet but you can see its a beautiful trip. People in danville are being warned to keep their cars and suvs in their garages. Police say there has been a string of car part thefts in town in recent weeks. Crooks are stealing catalytic converters. There are part of the exhaust system and contain precious metals. Trucks and suvs are prone to the theft because they are easier to crawl under. South carolina is not the only place bearing the brunt of the controversy over the Confederate Flag. Its happening here in california, too. Why a sacramento area shop owner was forced to remove the flag. Reporter after 54 years, South Carolina lowered the Confederate Flag friday morning and closed a chapter in the countrys history. Thousands of miles away, in elk grove, the same battle flag came down at this gun shop. Only here, owners didnt do it willingly. I took it down because of safety reasons. Reporter jacob of wild bills said he removed the flag after receiving death threats. A sign hanging next to the American Flag out front points the finger at liberals. A lot of them were just watch the building, its going to come down. Take that flag down. You guys are racist. You guys are intolerant. Reporter this was the scene at his shop last week angry protestors demanding the shop remove the flag. It was displayed after the massacre of nine black people at a South Carolina church last month. There is no room for that here. Reporter the founder of the group, insight insight, says she is under attack, too. Threats from across the country from groups like people that are affiliated with the kkk, or with the neonazi groups. Reporter she received harassing facebook message like this one relating, document a peaceful protest at do you want a peaceful protest at your job while they maintain their innocence the fight isnt over. Its in everything. Reporter they say its a fight for the future. The Gun Store Owner says he has no plans to put the flag back up. Coming up, he fell into an inferno and lived to talk about it. A fresno fire captain was burned over most of his body after falling through the roof of this burning home in may. A few months later we see that firefighter is on the road to recovery. Reporter he wears a different uniform as a recovering patient at Community Regional than as a fresno fire captain. Friday he was a firefighter again. A mysterious explosion knocks a woman off her feet. The republican president ial canada cant donald trump taking more heat for his an explosion at a rhode island beach sent a woman to the hospital. The blast happened this morning in narragansett. The woman was thrown into a rock wall. She is expected to be okay. Witness reported hearing a loud boom. Now, crews are digging through the sand looking for clues into what caused the blast. It appears to have been some ground disturbance there. There are fractures in the wet sand. The gaps that occur, Something Like you would see when lightning hits a beach. Theres definitely something that happened there. No one else was hurt. The beach is expected to re open tomorrow. The San Francisco zoos new south american tropical rain force exhibit opened today and seems to have it all. But one of the new animals is a no show, a small venomous snake, a racer. The snake is small, only an inch wide and 12 to 14 inches long. Zoo Officials Say there is nothing to worry about. This snake is barely venomous. Its like a bee sting. Its like a spider bite.
