Since the shooting, much has been said about sanchezs status as an undocumented immigrant and San Franciscos sanctuary policy. Now, that policy calls for San Francisco officials not to turn over undocumented people to federal immigration officials. Mayor ed lee and sheriff Ross Mirkarimi disagree about the interpretation of the policy. There was nothing in there that prevented our sheriff from picking up the phone and letting them know that you gave us, um, you brought back to our jurisdiction a multifelony serious offense fender and we are about to release serious offender and we are about to release. Doyle drive is the main approach to an from the Golden Gate Bridge on the San Francisco side. Everything in red will be closed for the weekend so crews can connect new roads and tunnels. A project six years in the making. Workers are putting finishing touches on the presidio parkway. This weekends seconds. The couple was home at the time. The husband shot at the suspect. There was a shootout. But the husband was hit and taken to the hospital. He is now reportedly in Critical Condition. One of the suspects might have been hit as well and a s. W. A. T. Team was called in. San Leandro Police requested help from chp and the Alameda CountySheriffs Department. Well monitor it throughout the day in case there are any sort of repairs taking place but again it was a latenight accident last night involving a pedestrian and a vta light rail. Early this morning lawmakers in the South Carolina house voted to remove the Confederate Flag from the Capitol Grounds. As don champion shows us, the vote came after more than 13 hours of debate. The Confederate Flag located at the confederate soldiers monument. Reporter with a 9420 vote the South Carolina house made history approving a bill that will remove the Confederate Flag from capital grounds. This is a bizarre story. A couple in union city found a live tank round brought it to the Police Station prompting an evacuation. A woman went to the front counter of the Police Department and said she found a missile Near Railroad tracks. She and her husband put it in the back seat of their car. Officers saw it and evacuated the surrounding area. Its about 3 to 4 feet long and at the base of it, it was about 8 to 10 in diameter. And its about 100 pounds. Authorities say anyone who finds possible explosives probably would be well advised to leave them where they are. Call police. West nile virus has turned up for the first time this year in santa clara county. The virus is found in adult mosquitos in palo alto and mountain view. In response, Vector Control would be fogging next monday and Tuesday Morning between the hours of 11 p. M. And 2 a. M. So far there are no human cases of the virus in california this year. Water districts across california have a new problem this morning. Increased conservation is hurting their bottom line. Many users have cut back after the state issued mandates to curb water use. But that means that water districts are seeing hundreds of millions of dollars less in revenue than they expected. So now the state water board is trying to figure out how it can keep usage low while keeping districts above water. So that you can be encouraging conservation while also making sure theres enough money to run your water system and avoid the perverse incentive to sell more water. Among the ideas encouraging tiered pricing or raising rates for everybody or even creating a drought emergency fee for all customers. Take a look at this violent struggle between a Southern California store owner and a suspected thief and the merchant won. Video shows a man walking into a metro pcs store on friday. The store owner says the man was trying to buy a cell phone but instead of pulling out his wallet, he pulled out a taser. Thats when the store owner went into survival mode. Things got ugly and i tried to defend myself. So i was able to take him down and sit on his back. Police showed up. But they thought it was a hostage situation. So they didnt make a move for nearly three hours. Eventually the store owner made a run for the door and Police Arrested the suspect. A San Francisco jury acquitted a woman facing felony charges in her nieces hitand run death. 26yearold woman was crossing the street with her niece and her nephew when she realized her nephew was still on the curb. She then ran back to pick up the nephew leaving the toddler in the crosswalk when the toddler was hit and killed. Prosecutors said that gage was negligent. The family supported her throughout the trial. A win for big tobacco in sacramento after lawmakers blocked a move to regulate ecigarettes. They gutted a key provision of the bill that would have defined ecigs as tobacco products. The proposal by San Francisco democrat mark leno would ban ecigarettes from restaurants, hospitals and public transportation. It would also reuven doors to apply for a state it would also require vendors to apply for a state license. Dozens of kids at a waterpark got sick last month 17 went to the hospital. Contra costa county Officials Say one of the pumps at the park had stopped the night before the incident. The chemicals kept flowing and they reached a toxic concentration in one of the pools. Several different possibilities. One is that human error in that the water pump needs to be pumping when children are playing or people are playing in a pool. And there should have been some recollection and some, um, observation that the water pump was not pumping. 34 children got sick, 17 went to the hospital. A bay area family says their dogs narrowly escaped a fire over the weekend. Now they are trying to halt dog owners who werent so fortunate. The fire happened sunday at a kennel in monterey. The owner of the business went to pick up the familys two dogs and thats when the fire broke out. Smoke filled the rooms and killed 15 dogs. We had the elation that the dogs were alive and when they came out you just wanted to grab them and hold them. But at the same time, you know, we didnt want to be so happy and obviously our dog lived and others didnt so we were so upset for other people. And the family is setting up a go fund me account to raise money for the owner of the business and people who lost dogs in the fire.
