Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): Kohima and Peren launched the month-long celebration of Poshan Maah on September 1 in their respective districts. Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) is a flagship programme strives to reduce the level of stunting, under-nutrition, low birth weight in children and anemia in adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers as well as children. The programme in Kohima was organised the chairmanship of the deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, in his office’s conference hall. Speaking at the launch event, Shanavas stated that Poshan Maah is celebrated every year from September 1 to the 30th with various action plans from the concerned departments. He expressed hope that all the departments would take part in the convergence activities for the successful implementation of the programme, stated a DIPR report. The Kohima district coordintor of Poshan Abhiyaan, Sohile Tep, stated that Poshan Maah was launched on March 8, 2018, with an aim to improve the nutritional outcomes for women and children by leveraging technology, targeted approach and convergence.
