All items are free for fire victims and evacweese. Next door, volunteers sort through 20,000 pounds of donated items. When things closed down at the shelters and other places, this became the clarion house for all of these items. Now were just processing them. Reporter organizers wanted the center to represent a Boutique Store and feel welcoming. Imagine your house burning to the ground. The last thing you want to do is big through clothes. Reporter volunteers built shelves and painted the walls. Theres used and new clothing. Kids toys, even halloween costumes. We did this in five days. Reporter 14yearold christopher brought his rolling library. Christopher started this after the valley fire in 2015. He rolls it through Evacuation Centers and events. Tomorrow, a murder trial begins in San Francisco. An undocumented immigrant is accused of killing kate steinle two years ago. It sparked a debate over sanctuary cities. Hes suspected of killing the 32yearold woman. Steinle was shot while sitting with her father in pier 14. Defense attorneys are arguing it was an accidental ricochet shot. Prosecutors will argue he committed Second Degree murder because he aimed the gun at her or recklessly fired it into a crowded area. As for San Franciscos sanctuary city policy, those issues wont be discussed in court. That evidence about his status, his immigration status, will not come before this jury. I believe the judge instructed the attorneys, keep that out. Its not important to this, and its too emotional. And it will divert this jury to something they shouldnt be talking about. The jury was chosen from among a pool of a thousand people. The six men and six women are said to reflect the diversity of San Francisco. They include three immigrants, two tech workers, and degrees ranging from High School Diplomas to ph. D. S. In liver momore, police sho woman. Police ordered the 26yearold woman to get out of her car, but they say she drove at the officers, hitting their cars. Police say the officers fired because they feared for their safety. That woman is expected to survive. No officers were hurt. Police arrested this man accused of leading them on an hourlong highspeed chase in a stolen car. Police tried to stop that car around 9 00 this morning. The driver rammed a police car and his passenger jumped out and ran away. The driver went 110 miles an hour the wrong way on the freeway, hit another car, and stopped at a gas station where he was arrested. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
