That investigation into the shooting involving San Jose Police and a suspect continues. Now, police say that that suspect was firing a gun in a densely populated neighborhood. Well San Jose Police also telling us that theyll provide an update in about four hours. Nbc bay areas kris sanchez has been at the scene all morning long. Chris, what do we know . I can tell you that there is still a bit of a disruption here in the neighborhood. You see the crime scene tape here behind me, and officers are still actively investigating here on the scene. This is a parking lot that is blocked off. It abuts the alleyway where it appears at that officer involved shooting ultimately happened. It was in that alleyway where we got video just about an hour or two ago of both a patrol car and a gray van being covered up and put onto flatbed trucks and then towed away. That was the same vehicle that we saw in investigators honing in on yesterday as they were investigating shortly after that suspect was shot. Now, this is the area of coleman drive and or rather coleman drive and story road. And this all started about 4 00 yesterday afternoon when people started calling 911 to report a man firing shots. We did talk with someone in the area who said that with this many people Walking Around this neighborhood, it really is concerning. Our homicide unit is investigating the incident as they do with any officer involved shooting. Thats also being a going to be audited by the independent police auditor, the independent or the office of internal affairs, as well as the city attorneys office. And the District Attorneys Office is also here investigating. The officer involved shooting. We talked with neighbors who say they did not know that man at that point. Perhaps now, a day later, something will come to them. We will say that in addition to the San Jose Police departments internal affairs unit investigating, we will all we are also seeing investigators from the city attorneys office, as well as the Santa Clara CountyDistrict Attorneys Office. All of this is protocol. When an officer is involved in a shooting, the suspect is fighting for his life, has life threatening injuries in the hospital. Funeral services are now scheduled as the Iranian State media says the countrys president and foreign minister are both dead following a helicopter crash, reports say their chopper made some sort of crash or hard landing in northern iran. As nbcs keir simmons reports, rescuers were slowed by bad weather and heavy fog. Reporter well, governments across the middle east, including here in the gulf, are watching and worrying about events in iran. This morning with that news that president raisi did die in that helicopter crash, an iranian official describing it as a hard landing last night before the news of the fatalities emerged and saying it was due to fog and bad weather. And certainly the images of the frantic hours long rescue operation in iran on the border with azerbaijan do show thick, thick fog and mountainous terrain. Now iran is in mourning. The first Vice President has taken over. He is as almost as much a hardliner as president raisi was. He went to russia to do a deal over weapons. Back in october, president raisi presided over a government that sent missiles towards israel and historic move just last month over a government that crushed protests over womens rights after the death of a 22 year old woman. So there will be many around the world who will not mourn him. Many others, though sending their condolences, including president putin of russia and president xi of china. Reporter what is being celebrated this morning is a major step towards moving a project forward. That project is a transit project called the portal, and it will extend the caltrain rail line, which currently ends at fourth and king streets in the city, to the salesforce Transit Center. Thats more in the heart of downtown San Francisco. The Transit Center has been up and running for years now. Below the street level are. The bus concourse is another massive structure that was built to accommodate trains. Trains that cannot yet get there. Thats where this project, led by the transbay joint powers authority, steps in. It recently got an over 3 billion boost from the federal government, and the head of that agency recently shared the portal is now in the engineering phase of the Capital Investment grant, meaning nearly half of the 8 billion price tag would be funded. You can see how the trains will go underground, then turn under Second Street and then eventually arrive at the Transit Center under natoma and min streets. Its not a long stretch that would be connected, but the price has ballooned over the years. Unfortunately that number will continue to climb the longer it takes to get the project started. The agency is still short 2 to 3 billion today. However a federal state regional leaders are celebrating moving this project forward and anticipated end date to this, which would connect possibly northern and Southern California with the high speed rail project, is set for 2032, in San Francisco, Ginger Conejero. Nbc bay area news. Oakland police are investigating a deadly shooting. We do have this video here. This is from the scene this morning with the victims car after it crashed into a construction site. It happened around 215 this morning about one block from broadway and 14th street. Police telling us that that man was shot and killed. So far, no motive is being released and no arrests have been made. New overnight fremont Police Investigating a deadly motorcycle crash. It happened a little before midnight on niles canyon road and for a time, both directions were closed. No other vehicles were involved. The victim has not been identified. The road is back open. The International Criminal court is seeking arrest warrants. This is for israeli Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu and the leader of hamas on charges of war crimes. The icc are also seeking warrants for Israeli Defense minister, as well as two other top hamas leaders. And when you take a look at what were feeling now versus yesterday at this time it is about five degrees warmer in santa rosa. So in the north bay, its warming up a little bit more quickly. And were going to see highs in the north bay into the upper 70s. Were up to 80 in concord. And a lot of these numbers are just slightly above what we typically see for this date. Well, new at 11, the top Pediatricians Group in the us is making a sharp policy change about breastfeeding for those with hiv. But as we take a look at this live view in san jose, nice and sunny temperatures will be warming up slightly over the next couple of days. Some of our valleys in the mid to upper 80s for tuesday, but then cooling back down in time for memorial day as well as some gusty winds. Now those gusty winds are also pushing a lot of whats now olive tree pollen through the air, as well as grass pollen. Weve seen a lot of that lately. Weeds and mold. Pollen is fairly low, but if youve been sneezing, maybe thats what youre allergic to. Were going to see temperatures in the upper 70s for highs today in the north bay. Novato up to 77 degrees in San Francisco. Were in the upper 60s today, upper 60s for san mateo and then for dublin, hayward and fremont. Were looking at a high of 75 degrees now. Those temperatures come up once again for tomorrow, just slightly with the trivalley in the low 80s, mid 80s for concord and in fairfield well see a high of 87 degrees, low 80s for much of the north bay. And then San Francisco up to 71 degrees. And then it starts to come down a couple of degrees for wednesday. And if youve been looking at that 7day forecast at the bottom of the screen, temperatures continue to come down. Were still going to have some dry weather, but there will be some rain farther to the north of here. And then with the active storm pattern across the pacific northwest, were just getting the cool air pushing down into the bay area so this is what we dont typically see for this time of year, the end of may. And inland spots like walnut creek only seeing highs in the mid 60s. Thats what were going to see on saturday. Sunday only slightly warmer. And then for memorial day, 74 degrees. So were not looking at a significant warm up here except for tomorrow. Theres going to be a quick spike in temperatures and then cooling down for the weekend into next week. So as we take a look at our 7day forecast, upper 70s today, low 80s for our warmer spots tomorrow like livermore and santa rosa, and then upper 70s on wednesday. And then as we go toward the end of the week into the weekend once again, well be cooling down. No chances of rain in here, and were going to continue with a mostly sunny sky for the afternoons, but we will see the return of the low clouds and fog in San Francisco. And were going from a high of 70 on tuesday to only 59 on saturday. So thats a significant cooldown.
