Meanwhile, today here in new york, former president trumps hush money trial continues and the judge said trump violated his gag order for a tenth time and threatened to throw him in jail if necessary. [ cheers and applause ] i mean, if you violate a gag order nine times, you might as well make it an even ten. You know what im saying . [ laughter ] im kinda with him on that one. Why not . When they heard the threat of jail, trumps lawyers were like, please, please dont do it. Please dont send him. Thank you. Thank you for not. Thats right. Trump violated his gag order a a tenth time and the judge threatened to put him in jail. I didnt grow up in hollywood. So i knew it was a big deal. I certainly knew but i didnt quite understand how moving the whole thing would be and how much it would really mean to me. Jimmy really . Yeah, it was really jimmy because why . Because they kinda go through your career . Well, you go through and you just think, oh, wow, i guess this hasnt been a waste of time. [ laughter ] you know, i guess someone has actually noticed. You know, you just think, you sort of cant believe that what youve done has accumulated enough to warrant you being put in cement. Jimmy yeah. [ laughter ] you know . Jimmy and then youre there. And people are going to step on me for decades. [ laughter ] jimmy show business is tough. Yeah, exactly. Jimmy exactly. Have you gone to visit . I havent been back. But im next to Jason Bateman. Jimmy stop it. Yeah. Jimmy are you kidding me . So we are tied together. Because i know how much work goes into it, being in theatre, what it takes to get a play. Thats right. Jimmy not just an idea. From the idea to written and then produced. So its a big deal. Do you remember your first time in a playbill . I do. Well, because i grew up in new york city and i went to theater my entire life, i collected all my playbills. And i can, you know, i love them. So the idea, when i was an understudy in six degrees of separation. And when i was i was thrilled. I was the happiest understudy on broadway. And when i knew my name was gonna be in a professional playbill, just the idea of that. I knew exac its picture, where it was gonna be. Understudies. As elizabeth tess, laura linney. I was thrilled. And i was walking in the basin of Lincoln Center and they came in. The pallet of the playbills arrived. Before opening. And i was i was so ashamed by how much it meant to me. I was so embarrassed by it. And i wanted to play it cool. Jimmy yeah, of course. So i ran down the hallway. I grabbed one of those things out of there. I ran into the womens bathroom. I closed the door into a stall. I sat down, i looked through it, and it said, understudy, elizabeth and tess lavro linney. [ audience ohs ] and my name was completely misspelled. Lavro. Jimmy lavro . Lavro. Jimmy what an interesting name. And what it did i became a great french actress. Jimmy lavro linney. [ laughter ] jimmy you do not know lavro linney, are you kidding me . [ talking over each other ] but the thing, i was like, it serves you right. I thought, serves me right and it was a great lesson. It was like, never let Something Like that be that important. [ laughter ] it was really like god came down and went, ha jimmy yeah, exactly. You think you hit the big time . Think this is a big deal . Lavro . Jimmy yeah. [ light laughter ] i actually i have really a a similar story. In my office, i have hanging, when we first got late night, i dont know, roots, if you remember this. But we got late night. I got a cubicle. Thats all i had. I didnt have an office here at nbc. A big deal. Taking over for conan obrien. Oh, my gosh. And i was so excited, i got to my cubicle and right on there it said, nbc late night with jimmy falon. Yeah, thats right. [ laughter ] jimmy falon. Falon. Jimmy yeah. We are both the famous actors. French, we are french celebrities. [ laughter ] look at us, lavro and falon. Oui, oui. [ talking over each other ] jimmy i want to talk about this film, wildcat. With ethan and maya hawke. And maya. Jimmy maya hawke is fantastic. Amazing. Shes amazing. Both of them are. Jimmy how did this story come about . How did you hear about the script . I know you and ethan ethan and i, as weve said, weve known each other for a a long time and weve worked together a lot. So this is our fourth i think our fourth thing together. And he called and just wanted me to be in it. And you know, when you get to work with people who you love, working with friends, who you really love and trust, its just a great, great thing. So i just said, absolutely. You know. Im in. Im in. And i got to play six different southern women. Because its about flannery oconnor, who is a a Great Southern writer. And you go in we go in and out of the stories. The short stories that she wrote. So maya plays flannery. Im her mother and then in and out of the short stories, shes different variations of flannery and im different variations of mother figures, and so it goes in and out. Jimmy how fun.
