Tonight, a very different look on the San Francisco state campus. More than 30 tents have appeared and the people sleeping in them are vowing to stay until their demands are met. Free palestine. Hundreds of people demonstrating today against us support of israel in the war in gaza followed by the encampment in front of the Student Union and then those demands disclose, divest and like declare. So i think the students here who are prepared for the long haul struggle that is for the liberation of palestine, is something that many faculty here support and are ready to stand alongside them. On this first day and evening of the protests here at San Francisco state. Not a Law Enforcement officer in sight. University keeping it very low key, only saying they want to protect their right to protest and keep everybody safe. It was a very different scene down in the stanford campus today. Thats where the university is threatening students with suspension if they continue camping in white plaza. Protesters have also demanded the school divest from companies who do business with israel. For example, Lockheed Martin literally supplies weaponry to israel and has been transporting these weapons that are being used against the Palestinian People at Columbia University in new york, where the student protests all began two weeks ago. If hamas releases the most vulnerable hostages women, children, elderly and the injured or sick. It would also allow much needed aid to enter gaza. Hamas has before it a proposal that is extraordinarily, extraordinarily generous on the part of israel. And in this moment, the only thing standing between the people of gaza and a cease fire is hamas. Over the weekend, President Biden repeated to israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the u. S. Opposes a major operation in rafah because of the civilians sheltering there. Who is moving on to the november election. We could actually find out as soon as tomorrow. And the recount of that high stakes congressional race to replace retiring congresswoman anna eshoo. So the first count in the two county race determined sam liccardo will move on, for sure. And the man who requested the recount spoke with our ian cull today in his first tv interview. During this process, he said it is, quote, mind boggling that the recount is taking this long. Many questions have also been raised about who is funding the superpac thats footing the bill for the recount. So we asked him about it. Theres been absolutely no talks with mr. For example, since 2023, San Francisco has seen about a dozen freeway shootings. Oakland has seen four times that amount. When it comes to the highways, i have noticed a difference, but we got a long ways to go. Still, i do see a lot of the speeding and some of the activity, theres still a lot of control. The chp hopes were headed for even bigger drops in crime stats, with more than 480 new license plate reader cameras on the way from the state. Today, the Supreme Court rejected an appeal from elon musk over a settlement with the securities and exchange commission, the sec. The case stems from messages that elon musk posted on twitter in 2018, in which he claimed he had secured funding to take tesla private. Those tweets caused the companys share price to jump and led to a temporary halt in trading. The settlement requires musk to get approval from his attorney before he tweets about tesla.
