This comes one day after united flight lost a wheel during takeoff. This happened yesterday. Today one of the passengers explained how they found out about what happened. Sergio quintana explains that it is just one of a series of issues for united this week. Reporter just seconds off of this flight took off, one of the wheels from its rear landing gear fell off. Today, passengers aboard that airplane tell us it felt like a routine takeoff. It seemed like a normal takeoff. It was a smooth ride until the pilot made an announcement. The captain came on and said that air Traffic Control said there was an issue that they were looking into. 10 minutes after that they said that they lost a wheel. Reporter none of them found out where that wheel landed. It smashed two cars in an employee parking lot. And then bounced and landed at a rental car lot a few blocks away. Investigators documented it and hauled it away. One pilot says this is likely the start of an investigation by the feds and others. They will gather information to a new group together of experts. There will be somebody from united and somebody from boeing. Somebody from the wheel manufacture and the brake manufacturer and they will distract exactly what happened. Reporter the wheel coming off of this airplane yesterday is just one of several incidents. On monday a passenger aboard a flight shot this video of flames coming out of an engine. Bubblewrap on the runway got sucked into the engine causing the malfunction. Today, a united 737 fell off the taxiway after landing in houston. No one was injured. All of these unusual occurrences are exactly why flight crews train so seriously. We dont operate on the edge. We operate with backups and spares and with experience. They stabbed and killed an Undercover Police officer in rome during a drug deal. They were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. The sentences were later reduced. The highest court in italy throughout the convictions. The new case hinges on if they understood that the victim was an italian Police Officer when they stabbed him. We are looking at a troubling sign of the times. Some middle schoolers in east bay are hoping to make an impact with an experiment. They wanted to see if schoolbooks could protect against bullets. Right now the School Protocol is to hide in the corner and turn off the lights. We think that textbooks, it is a common resource and it can be used as body armor. Reporter these eighth graders, tyler and sophia, set out to prove that these books could double as a body shield. Their science project called high impact with their textbooks to the test. With the help of a trained firearms instructor, the girls tested how many textbooks it would take to stop a nine millimeter bullet. I was on site at a private shooting range when it took place and i took notes of how deep the bullet penetrated through each book. We found that it only took two tix textbooks. Reporter they found that just two 1 1 2 inch books are enough to keep the bullet from penetrating through. We found that over the head is a good idea. Reporter they are presenting their project at the contra costa science fair and their teacher things they have a chance of getting high marks. It is an issue that use should not have to worry about.
