There seem to be white out conditions. The resort did not open because of the storm. These conditions are expected throughout the weekend. Lets bring in National Climate reporter chase king to talk about this from the perspective of our changing climate. Chase, how is Climate Change influencing storms like this. The biggest thing audrey, is allowing the storms to hold more moisture. If you are at the lower elevation, that means more rain. At the higher elevation, it means more snow. We are seeing some of the evidence of that. A specific piece of research from ucla where they found a mystic river storms like this may be able to dump as much as 25 more moisture now, as compared to before we started burning coal, oil and gas. It is a good thing we are building up a snowpack in this era. Building up the water supply. But, youve been reporting on how difficult it is when you get so much all at one time. 10 to 12 feet of snowfall. What is the Bigger Picture here chase for the snowpack and future storms . Are we getting more of this and what does it mean for all of us . There is some uncertainty. One of the things that climate scientists are concerned about is what happens when you get into a street where you do not get the storms. The drug can be more intense and last longer. On the other side, more moisture precipitation and snow when it does happen. In terms of this era snowpack this year, the central sierra is about 81 before the storm rolled in. If we get the full forecast and 10 feet of snow in the higher elevations, it is hard to imagine audrey, we will not be in good shape. Potentially over 100 of where we should be this time of year in the central sierra. This is really good news. Also, californias water reservoirs are doing well from the rain and snow last year. More good news for us, at least in the short term. Chase, always appreciate it. Trees for joining us today. It is an egg hatching that will be seen all around the world.
