After last years widespread destruction in pajaro, theyre prepping for this winter. Last winter was an anomaly. This winter could be not necessarily a repeat, but we could be wet again. So to get big backtoback wet years is something we dont see too often here in california. Its our opportunity to help you the Community Get ready. Reporter today valley water showcased what it has done in lower silver creek in east san jose. The agency says it has cleared out around four feet of sediment so rainwater can flow more smoothly, reducing the threat of flash flooding. The sentiment buildup happens naturally. And if we didnt come in and remove that sediment, we would gradually lose the capacity of the stream or creek to be able to convey water. Advisers dozens of valley water crews have also used the dry season to remove trees and obstacles and clear out thousands of storm drains. Now valley water officials are urging everyone in the south bay to sign up for alert sec to get localized alerts in the south bay. Each county has a similar alert system. I asked valley water about the biggest lessons it will take from last winter moving forward. We definitely have enhanced coordination and communication. The better were able to communicate with other agencies, the better information is able to get out to the public. Reporter today the Governors Office also announced 95 million in funding to support flood preparedness and recovery projects in atrisk communities. The governor also signed a bill this month to speed up construction of the pajaro river Risk Management project. A south bay pizza Delivery Driver is accused of sexually assaulting a young girl during delivery. San jose police says the teenager ordered a pizza to be delivered to a hotel on the alameda. When the Delivery Driver arrived, he forced his way into her room and sexually assaulted her. You can see the photo of the suspect here. His name is sandeep sandeep. Sjpd did not reveal the name of the pizza restaurant. Obviously, as a pizza delivery worker, they have a lot of contact with many people out in the community, that if you recognize the suspect or have a similar incident that you want to report, to please contact the Police Department right away. Police say the girl quickly reported that assault, and they were able to find and arrest sandeep that same night in campbell. As the fighting rages on in the israel hamasisrael war, the tension is spreading here at home. Today hundreds of uc Berkeley Students walked out calling with solidarity with the Palestinian People and demanding an end to israels siege on the strip. Things got tense. One student was assaulted. Some people tried to grab the victims flag and backpack and ended up hitting her with a metal water bottle. Overseas, israel continues to intensify its air attacks on the gaza strip. The humanitarian crisis is growing more dire each day. Some members of the United NationsSecurity Council are calling for immediate ceasefire. However, the u. S. Stopped short of doing. So but the u. And probably that its going to come to the conference, the pacific conference here in california next month. So this is a benefit, a windfall for newsom more because of timing than anything else. State of california sent qualifying taxpayers a special onetime payment through either direct deposit or debit card, like one of those right there. All refunds should have arrived by the beginning of the year. Well, cynthia in san jose got her debit card, but heres what happened next. She tried to use it, a and the store told her the card only had 25 on it. Yeah, someone had hacked in and spent 725 of cynthias 750 bucks. So here is what she did. She filled out a dispute form with the state card vendor money network. Cynthia says she didnt hear back. So she contacted us. We contacted the state. Within two weeks, the vendor gave sintia her 725. They wouldnt comment. Cynthia is not alone. Our Response Teams here and in los angeles have handled several other cases where thieves have drained their tax refund cards. We asked the state how much fraud people have reported. It wouldnt tell us. But it did say this. We are following the industry best practice of not commenting on fraud or divulging any information that might be helpful to bad actors, aka thieves. So certainly getting in on the chillier air. Also the clouds. Rainfall not so much. But we have seen a few spotty showers of napa, marin, sonoma counties. The bulk is materializing for the Central Valley and even some snow through the sierra, 1 to 3 inches through tonight. So be ready for the winter conditions across interstate 80 and highway 50. For us, its just the spotty chance of shower. We could get into from 8 00 tonight right through about 11 00 p. M. Again, nothing too organized. But just be ready for maybe a few slick spots out there on the road waist. Then as we head through tomorrow morning, a lot of us should really clear out. The one thing i do want you to watch out for, though, is we could have some patchy areas of ground fog right here for parts of san jose and gilroy. Be on the lookout for that for the early commute. And then as we head through the day, there is lots of sunshine returning through the bay area. So generally, with that system moving across the bay area, it is going to start off a lot colder. Look at these numbers. Were talking about widespread 40s throughout the bay area that will get you down to 48 in the south bay. 44 for the trivalley. Right over the north bay, 41. Some sweater weather. And for the east bay, 45. Now as we head for tomorrow, still going to be hard to warm up, even though we get that increased sunshine, because there is so much cold air across the bay area. So numbers really not going to vary too much across the microclimate. We have 67 in santa rosa. 69 in san jose. 68 right there in palo alto. So sunshine for tomorrow. Dry weather with us. I think were going stay with weather like this, even into this weekend, with another reinforcing shot at some cold air. But the problem with this system right now is its taking this dryer inland track. So as that low pressure sets up with High Pressure to the north, its going to Conveyor Belt in not only the cooler air, but unfortunately some wind. We couldnt get into some fire weather watches here as we head into this weekend forecast. Now overall, i think some of the gustiest winds would be in the north bay. Saturday morning, 7 30, the mountains start to pick up 20 to about 40 Miles Per Hour. And then well see 15 to about 30 Miles Per Hour wind here as we head into saturday afternoon. Some of the mountains in the north bay could get up to about 40. Wed see some of that lingering wind here sunday morning through the north bay mountains. And i think by sunday afternoon, wed start to see that wind dropping on down. So again, the next thing were really looking towards is wind this weekend. It does look sunny in the forecast with temperatures in the 60s in San Francisco. And for the inland valleys, were going go with upper 60s and low 70s.
