I am audrey. We are talking to pro Palestinian Groups about the d. A. s comment and will join us in just a little bit. We are tracking other stories on this monday. Ahead of the expected ground attack. About 200 officers remain from the official here at home the fbi is warning of a rise in antisemitic and other violent extremism. Today hundreds of Jewish Americans marched to the white house calling for an immediate ceasefire. Today the state department announced it will be chartering flights out of tel aviv through thursday. Theres estimated thousands of americans today are leaving a port in israel headed for cyprus. For americans in gaza, the state is recommended they head to that port in egypt. I can tell you our nbc bay area colleague is among the americans that did make it out. Hes in columbia after the columbiaen air force picked up passengers from tel aviv. Its hard. Its hard when you feel this, you know, the fear, of you can be killed by any second. Were glad hes okay. As you just saw on nightly news, a few minutes ago, nearly 300 americans arrived in tampa with the help of ron desantis. We are joined live from San Francisco. Tell us about the tweet. Reporter this is a tweet she was making a response to, a couple photos, and the photos were antisemitic, and they seemed to coincide with a march and rally that was taking place on saturday. It was a group of a coalition of groups, actually, in the bay area, that are supporters of palestinians. Now, the problem is that in the tweet, in the District Attorneys tweet responding to that vandalism, she wrote, specifically, this weekend a pro hamas rally was held downtown, and she described the antisemitic messages and also writes to say at this time the suspects are unknown for the vandalism but are assumed to be connected to the protest, and some say their protest was peaceful and they do not like the fact that the District Attorney linked the vandalism to their event but they are concerned the District Attorney used the pro hamas description of their event saying they do not feel its a good idea for an elected official of San Francisco to connect their peaceful event to an organization considered a terrorists organization, and so part tweets have been deleted and the District Attorney put out a statement saying why she made that statement. Despite that, the pro Palestinian Group is not happy, right . Reporter obviously they are not happy. We talked with them this afternoon and she said what the District Attorney said was potentially dangerous, and they are asking she consider her words next time, and she explains why she deleted the tweets but doesnt specifically apologize for the post itself, and thats also something with the groups i talked with today have a pretty big problem with. We will hear your full story at 6 00, so thank you for the preview. We appreciate it. See you then. The u. S. Continues to promote peace amid the israel hamas war. And the secretary of state is holding diplomacy talks throughout the middle east, and we will hear more about that coming up in less than 30 minutes. The state attorney general placed the embattled Vallejo Police department underside, and it will now be required to make sweeping changes by court order. The city has been plagued by a number of officerinvolved shootings, and public trust has been broken. The department will have five years to make changes under the supervision of a new enforcer and the court. Its about correcting injustices and enhancing Public Safety for all people in vallejo. Its about insuring the Police Department listened to the people they serve. We are glad there will be external oversight. We believe it will save a lot of lives and cause a lot of ultimately financial savings on top of life savings for the city of vallejo. The department is also severely understaffed was noted, making any reform more challenging. The city met with the chp this afternoon hoping to get temporary backup. Abonta says the staffing is no excuse for failing to make the required changes. Get caught speeding, get ready for a ticket. But it could come courtesy of an automated camera. A whole bunch of new speed cameras are coming to the bay area, and Marianne Favro spent the day looking for where they will go. Reporter we did ask, but unfortunately so far the exact locations of where these cameras will be put up has not been determined, but we did learn theres certain criteria of where they need to be put up. They need to be put up either in school zones, in areas where there has been a lot of traffic accidents, and also in areas where theres lot of street racing. These cameras can be installed in oakland, san jose and San Francisco as early as january. Now, initially there will be a grace period for people to be used to the concept, but after 60 days, fines and tickets could be sent to your home ranging from 50 to 500 for suspected speeders. Its pricey. Marianne, of course, i would imagine, people are for, against these cameras, and i am sure you spoke with a number of people out there today. What are they telling you . Reporter well, a lot of civil liberty groups are against the cameras, and they are worried about what will happen to these photographs, and how long will the city hold on to them . Who will have access to any of the information that is caught on camera . Those are their big concerns. Now, as far as people who support this program, including vision zero in san jose, they believe the Enforcement Effort by sending out more tickets, they will change behavior, and it will be a wake up call for speeders to slow down. There have been 41 fatal traffic accidents that have involved speeders this year, so they are trying to get people to slow down and make a difference. Certainly a lot of questions and changes ahead for us ahead. Thank you for that preview. Thank you. Rob, we are used to enjoying some of the warmer days during this time of year, september, october, but this year is more extreme, yeah . Lot of people in the bay area dont have airconditioning, i dont, so it has been brutal. We need to address fire danger and drought, too. Yeah, this year has been the exception to the rule when it comes to the drought and fire danger impact of the warmer and drier falls. When you look at the drought monitor, it looks great. Typically the driest, and it did not look good last year, and the trends over the last ten years clearly going back to 2000, you can see a higher frequency of drought and more intensity, and that directly impacts what we see with fire danger and fire seasons. Some of the most aggressive fire seasons, and you get fire conditions not just midsummer into fall, but into spring and winter, so it has the change reaction effect, and it impacts the fire and drought danger, a trend we have seen more of in the last decade or so. Rob, thank you for explaining it so we get a better sense of what is happening. For more stories like this, go tomorrow nbcbayarea. Com climate in crisis. It may not make this any easier today.
