Because the sunrise will be stunning. You can already see by hind us, right to your forecast. We do have that moisture lining up with a cold front helping this golden sunrise and bringing the cloud cover also. Going to feel falllike. Enjoy it. Looking out into the atmospheric field, its not that. You can see the moisture building out in the pacific. Now, this cold front, a weaker cold front is going to bring small amounts of rain. Talking a couple hundredths if that, sonoma airport reporting scattered showers this morning. See it in redding. As far as the bay area goes, light activity in San Francisco. Other than that, the most were getting out of the system is slight cooling. No big drop in temperature, and then small amounts of showers in through about 9 00 a. M. , notice seeing some of that popping up in napa. I side from that, though, expect to keep partly cloudy skies through the afternoon. That system moving out quickly and then behind it, whats happening, warmer air starts to build. That going to climb our temperatures up, but also going to bring the High Pressure through, which means we are also going to see the return of that marine layer developing early in the morning tomorrow. So if you live around the coastline, expect to see fog as well. Temperaturewise, going to be comfortable. Look at your temperature trend for San Francisco. By 1 00 in the 60s. For san jose, bumping up into the 70s. Talking about the Solar Eclipse. Its very neat and begins at 8 09 peaking around 9 20. Ends around 10 22. What makes it so special . Having to do with alignment of the sun, moon and earth. Compared to a total eclipse, what happens is, it moves farther from the earth during the annular versus a total eclipse, the moon moves closer to the earth. Even though we are not going to see 100 of totality here in the bay area, the reason its called ring of fire, during an annular one the sun is not totally obscured. We see about 75 to 80 coverage, but the reason this is so neat, first time so many states can see it crossing across the u. S. Then, ah, kira look at that. 80s next week. Can you believe it . That weather in place today. Typically on a day we would like to see sunshine we got clouds. Vianey, thank you. Welcome back. One day thought of his son. Nicknamed boom, who died of cancer at the age of 6. Thanks for coming, jason. Reporter rich realized all the attention he enjoyed getting to be used to help others. So he started using the garden to raise money for saint Judes Childrens Research hospital. Others benefited from my selfishness. I think thats i think thats kind of a way to say it. Yeah. Right there. Its yeah. Its a little selfserving, but then all of these people benefit from what, what im doing. And, and thats great i mean, thats, you know, thats a great thing. Reporter which all brings us to richs next fundraising brainstorm. Its rich speaking. Reporter at his job selling concrete two years ago his coworker lisa admired his christmasthemed socks and started to sing jingle bells and a light bulb went off for rich. And go to cvs and i buy a Christmas Card with the jingle bells recording in the card. I come back, and i cut out the recording. Put it in my sock, flip it over. Go to lisas office. Lisa, we invented jingle socks. Reporter rich really did invent something. A patent now for socks that play recordings when a button is pushed. These 49erthemed socks with montana on the right clark on the left play the audiofrom the catch. The catch. Reporter rich dreams of the day socks like these are handed out at levis stadium or oracle park making money for saint jude, sure, but also keeping the memory of his son alive. Yes. All goes back to, as a parent that lost a child, its a way to keep our sons alive. I mean, every you know, every parent thats lost a child wants to keep this, somehow, have him remembered. Reporter who knows . If this sock ideaakes off and money for research a raised, there may even one day be a parent who doesnt lose a child. And rich would love to be and rich would love to be famous for that. Kayaking is my thing. Running is awesome. But her moderate to severe eczema would make her skin so uncomfortable. Good morning. It is saturday, october 14th. 7 31. A live look outside. Wow that sun rising over downtown san jose. A gorgeous morning with some cloudy skies. Look at that. Watching us from home i know youre thinking that the clouds signal rain. Youre right. Seeing moisture in the atmosphere. In the south bay not to worry about the rain. Gorgeous sunrise, thanks to this High Pressure thats going to build off the coast. First, a cold front sweeps through. Once that cold front sweeps through we have a couple hundredths of an inch now coming down out through parts of sonoma. Very far north and enough to cool us off slightly. What to expect. Scattered showers move up very quickly. By the afternoon, only thing lingering, looking out for that Solar Eclipse and then looking ahead to your sunday. Talking about a warmer day ahead. Also return of the marine layer as that High Pressure begins to build. We see warm air moving in. Kira . All right, vianey, thank you. A live look in gaza this morning where israel had ordered the people of the northern gaza to evacuate to the south. Today israel extended that Evacuation Order by six hours for people who havent yet escaped. Israels military says the order was intended to minimize civilian casualties in the war against hamas. But its raised fears about an imminent invasion into gaza. They offered safe passage to the south of gaza and blamed hamas from preventing people from leaving the area. Hamas is warning them top ignore that warning. Leaders in egypt, israel and the u. S. Agreed to allow foreigners in gaza to pass through the crossing point later today nap is the only passageway from gaza into egypt where there is safety. The World Health Organization say moving as many as 1 Million People in the last 24 hours would be impossible and it continues to put lives at risk. Nbc news is reporting that 1,300 people thus far have been killed in israel alone. And in gaza, more than 1,900 are dead. As of last check, 27 u. S. Citizens have been killed. 14 remain missing. We have exclusive new reporting this morning about just how extensive hamass planning was from targeting schools to the shocking number of secure places breached. Documents recovered from hamas fighters obtained by nbc news from an israeli official show how the group drew up detailed plans to storm specific schools, and tasks special units to deal with the hostages. The documents contradict hamas claims that the group does not target children. Part of an emerging picture of the scale and sophistication of the attack raising new questions about the failure of Israeli Forces to stop it. Israeli military tells nbc news that the gaza border fence was breached approximately 30 times. A higher number than previously reported to which helps explain how hundreds of terrorists were able to enter israel. We located some of the most severe breaches. Including this one near this area where terrorists used high explosives to blast their way through. Then storming inside the rural community, leaving a trail of death behind. Israeli military says that in this house the Israeli Residents had barricaded themselves into a safe room. The Hamas Terrorists werent able to get them. So they set the whole house on fire. Hamas Ground Forces supported from above by explosivecarrying drones. At this point a drone dropping a bomb on a machine gun tower overlooking the border. New images also show what new security analysts believe is an antiaircraft missile. Its not clear if it was fired but it indicates the terrorists arrived ready to defendal themselves against israeli helicopters. We dont know why israeli Monitoring Systems failed to detect hundreds of hmas fighters approaching the border fence. Intelligence missed Early Warning signs incluing hamas building an openair village to practice. A collapse of all systems, but the first one is the intelligence system. Reporter painful questions over the slow response of israeli troops once the attack was underway. Its not the success of hamas. Its more the failure of the israeli defense. Reporter a senior israeli officer stationed along the gaza border. Whats the single thing that shocks you the most . None of them was in full gear. Israel for decades, the drills, that before the sun rise, this is the most important and sensitive sign that the enemy can attack. Reporter we asked the israeli militarys top spokesman what went wrong here. Intelligence failure . Failure of units on the border . What went wrong . This is a plan, planned, massive plan. What we didnt know, we will find out what, why we didnt know. But now, we are not into that mindset. Our mindset now is in the other side of the border. Reporter a military with a difficult fight ahead and difficult questions to answer. Raf sanchez, nbc news.
