The demonstration is just wrapping up right now. A group of bay area artists stuck in limbo right now. Ian cull will join us to explain what exactly happened here and how you can actually help bring the art home. And a way to experience google in person. Hes going to be joining us with a live look. Lets go ahead and start the latest in the middle east. Hamas fired rockets across tel aviv. The war has claimed the lives of at least 1300 israelis and at least 1500 people in gaza among the dead. At least 27 americans. They believe the decision by israel to enforce a blockade on the densely populated gaza street which is home to more than 2 Million People is setting the stage for an extensive humanitarian crisis. Meanwhile, the white house is not yet determined how Many Americans are believed to have been taken by hamas. By unaccounted for, we need that. We dont know where they are. They dont know where they are. We are going to stay in touch with them as well. Also an important note, hamas has threatened to broadcast videos of israeli hostages online. Some schools are warning children to avoid social media even going as far as deleting apps because of possibly lead videos. There are things that kids cant unseat once they have seen him. As hard as it is to be called something and how we are modeling it. The kids are taking their cues from us. Social media platforms have been filled with graphic images out of gaza. Counselors say its important to talk to her children if they have questions and reach out for help. Tensions are building here at home. A pro Palestinian Group say they are concerned of their safety. Jewish faculty members met to discuss growing fears over their safety on campus. Held a demonstration of campus. That what you are looking at here. That is where robert handa is now. I understand that that really has wrapped up. Did you see because of all the safety concerns, did you see any extra security managers . Reporter we were actually looking for that given the escalating violence that is going on and all the other things that have been going on. We thought we may have had more security. Just as New Palestine showed up. Not only did we not see any extra security, we didnt see a need for it. They were pretty much determined to have a peaceful protest even though a lot of the rhetoric has been very anti israel trying to put the perspective out that israel has been what was happening by hamas. We never really saw the emotional level get very high. We did not see any extra security. We didnt really feel like there was a need for it. Good to hear that. Jewish faculty members did meet with University Leadership today. Are they happy with the outcome . Reporter i would say that they felt like it made some progress but i dont think they were very satisfied. I talked to professor jonathan who was leading the faculty members. He said that essentially what they are upset about is they felt like the university could have condemned hamas specifically and been more strident in their condemnation of what happened. University putting out there messaging to encourage people to still view the different points of view on this issue. They felt like that water down any condemnation and they felt that even that in order to discourage people from taking it out on people of the jewish community. They were upset about that. They do not show any promise that there would be that kind of condemnation. The University Spokesperson told me they havent ruled that out, they have closed the door on that yet. I dont think the faculty members were very satisfied at all. Okay. It was not about the students. I think there were 100 out there today. Were you able to speak with them . What did they tell you . Reporter they do not want to speak on camera. They said they were concerned about being singled out or having their identity shown or having somebody be focused on that in that way. They didnt talk to us on camera. But i talked extensively with several members. They were mostly concerned about the media staying somewhat neutral. They feel as though everything is very proisrael. That was their main concern that what they were saying gets out. Talking to some of the students who are passing by, there seems to be an attitude, that students should be able to express their opinions on both sides adipocytes are very strident and believe heavily on what they are saying. What was going on here was simply freedom of speech about people talking about what they believe in. That was what their main concern was. And not be censored or edited or put in the wrongs perspective. They are aware of faculty concerns but they were not saying that if the faculty feels they are unseen or unheard, that the way they have dealt with the school for many years. Thank you so much for that wrap up. I know we are going to see you again later on. Thank you. Our coverage of the israel hamas war continues at 5 30. Evidently gives message to israel as he arrives in the country. As i mentioned, robert will join us at 6 00.
