We are learning mort about the accident that left the woman pinned behind a rogue driverless taxi. She was actually hit by another car and then thrown into the path of the driverless car. Scott budman saw the video, and he has the latest. The cameras on board of the rogue taxi captured the accident, and the company is not yet making it public, but did show it to me earlier today and it is not easier to watch the pedestrian not in a crosswalk though, and is hit by a car, and then the force sends her into the next lane where the robo taxi comes in, and the robo taxi stops but not before hitting the pedestrian. The person who triggered the call took off. We received a call of a person trapped underneath a vehicle on 5th and market street. We arrived to find a person who was trapped under an Autonomous Vehicle that had come to a stop. Reporter they went into rescue mode. We used the jaws of life to get the victim out. Reporter she was rushed to the hospital with multiple serious injuries. No word on her condition the night. But it raises questions fair or other wise about the safe toif Driverless Cars. We saw what happened last night in San Francisco. That cant happen. Reporter san mateo supervisor concerned about the robo taxis said it is time to slow it down d and his comments are coming after the robo taxis got green light to send the cars to sfo. What i am saying is that if you have so many accidents in San Francisco, take a pause. They do this in tech all of the time. They do if there is bugs or something that needs to be worked out. Reporter in a statement, cruz says that the initial impact of the first car launched the pedestrian in front of the autonomous car, and then it braked aggressively to minimize the impact, and the driver of the other car fled the scene. The crews said that the first concern was the wellbeing of the woman, and they are working with the police to identify the driver. And tonight, the republican rebellion in washington, d. C. In a historic vote House SpeakerKevin Mccarthy has been officially removed as speaker of the house. Eight republicans joined with democrats in voting to oust the speaker from bakers field. That is including Florida Republican matt gaetz to oust him. This is the first time a House Speaker has been ousted out of office. And matt gaetz says he broke promises to stave off the government shutdown. Kevin mccarthy said he will not run for speaker again. I do not regret negotiating. Our government is designed to find compromises. I do not regret my efforts to build coalitions and find solutions, and unfortunately 4 of the conference can join all of the conferences and dictate who can be the republican speaker in this house. I will not run for speaker again. Ill have the conference pick someone else. Kevin mccarthy has made multiple contradictory promises, and he lost people who dont ideologically agree with me. So now, the republican Patrick Mchenry is going to serve as the temporary speaker, and the election will be wednesday after tuesdays interim nominations. And joining us is larry gergston, and it was so hard to get him in that position, and 15 rounds of voting and criticized for the entire time, and what led him to the downfall . It was a litany of concessions to get to that 15th vote, and the one of which was one person to call for a vote, and one person is all, and this matt gaetz job, and others followed. All of the reform came home to roost. So it was pushed for and voted, and voted with all of the democrats and came down to simple majority 216 to 210, and we watched it unfold on cspan. And he is out. He is out. What happens to the republicans now. You heard a moment ago, the temporary speaker Patrick Henry said, okay, we will shutdown for a week. We will shutdown for a week, and come back next tuesday and talk about and maybe vote next wednesday. And the house shuts down, and the senate shuts down and the both chambers to vote on anything, and nothing is going to be getting done, and at a time when something needs to happen. A week for House Speaker who is second in line to the president , and so everything, and what if something major happens and Congress Needs to act. That is the question. What if something happens, and if there is a vacancy, and what if we lose the Vice President or the president , and there has to be a change. And the speaker then becomes the second in line of the next office, perhap, perhaps. And so it is a lot of possibilities, but just that and not a good time for the congress to shutdown like that. 90 minutes ago, rep mccarthy said he would not run for that, and who might do that . Maybe representative henry. He is liked by all sides and that a miracle. Another could be tom cole. He is the chair of the rules committee. The rules committee is really important, because the rules Committee Goes ahead to determine how things will flow. He is the person that you might want to look at. In some ways, steve scalise. He is the two person, and thought of highly between the maga republicans if you will and the far right, and the moderates and the conservatives. He is a possibility. But right now, as i said, everybody has their own list. It is going to be something of a free for all over the next week. It was hard enough for mccarthy to get 218 votes, and it is going to be just as hard if not harder for somebody else. In the meantime, congress is in a free fall. We are hours away from the Largest Health care worker strike in history. 35,000 workers could hit the picket lines unless a deal with be reached. Reporter all signs are pointing to a strike starting tomorrow. This woman says she does not feel what k. P. Is offering is fair. The cost of living is skyrocketing. I personally have been pushed out of Silicon Valley and i commute one hour and 45 minutes every morning. And now, over 35,000 workers could walk off of the job upset about lack of staffing and wages. They say that 2 3 of care has been delayed or refused because of understaffing. Kaiser permanente denies that claim. We cannot go on with what is happening. The strike includes er and xray technicians, ultrasound and sonographers, and hospitals will remain open. Doctors and nurses are not involved. We have three brandnew doctors and no staff for them. Reporter kaiser says they are continuing to work towards the agreement and has plans in place to continue, and care will continue if workers strike, and they claim to have the highest total compensation in every market they operate. The issue is not staffing, but wages. That is the reason that hopefully we will resolve in the next 24 hours, but that is the reason at the table. Reporter kaiser may have to reschedule nonurgent procedures and note that wait times could increase in a strike. It has been tough across the country in terms of Staffing Shortages associated with the great retirement, and the great burnout, but the matter is that k. P. Is doing better than others in terms of retaining our employees. We understand that it is a national shortage, but we can also see the profits that we make, and we believe it is unfair that they were not involved in the labor. A new center is desperately needed for san pablo and the region, but some are trying to stop what they are calling a cop campus. You are looking at the site that will soon be home to san pablos new Police Head Quarters and regional training center. A 44 million project that police say is long overdue. The main goal is to reduce crime, and our community has been vocal that Public Safety remains one of the top priorities. Captain brian bubar says that they have outgrown their current building and it is not big enough for the staff. The new 42,000 square foot facility is going to house all of their police personnel, and feature a new state of the Art Training Center to include a 20lane indoor gun range, and Virtual Reality training room. Now more than ever, we believe that our officers need training, and making a Million Dollar decision in a split second, so we believe that the officers need more training and not less, so this building is a opportunity to facilitate just that.
