There is no ability for the president of the United States to pardon somebody who is convicted of a state crime. Reporter another key difference is this time there will likely be cameras in the courtroom. The question now is whether this will impact the campaign trail and the president. If it is before the election it certainly makes it a little bit more difficult for Donald Trumps campaign although he is very loyal supporters. We know that. But it would cast a shadow.
