The west maui fire in lahaina is now 85 contained but Health Officials are warning people that the burn areas are highly toxic. It is all a dire and desperate situation. Stephanie joins us now. This new video shows people literally jumping into the ocean to get away from the flames that are raging on shore. Swimmers clinging to rocks as they are hit by waves. Coast guard says they did pull 17 people from the water on tuesday. All of them are recovering. During a News Conference today, officials talked about the action the coast guard members were taking to save lives. A surface swimmer deployed into the water to save five people including two children from the water. A coast guard member who was on leave from mainland to maui volunteered to support our boat crews and our members have deployed here from across the country. He has been just north of lahaina but had to leave his hotel because its generator stopped working and the staff said there would not be power any time soon. He saw this. As we were leaving the resort, we went south toward lahaina. We got a mile up the road. That is when we started seeing all the burnt houses on both sides of the road. We got up to a certain point before they set it off and you couldnt go any further. So we turned around and came back and it was devastating. It was like watching the fires you go up and you see homes that are burnt. But there is one house that is still survived. He tells us he also walked to a store three miles from his hotel and had to wait 45 minutes just to get supplies.
