The governor said the state will not be distributing the vaccines. Instead that will be up to the Drug Companies partnering with your health care provider. For example, if you go to kaiser or sutter haelealth, they would have it. However, the state will help in the distribution. Also today a third possible vaccine was announced by astrazeneca and oxford university. So now moving forward, among the pressing questions, do we have a choice on which vaccine to take, and who gets it first . It shouldnt surprise anybody that the phase one vaccination Distribution Plan in terms of prioritization is focusing first and foremost on our Health Care Workers, these truly essential workers that are now experiencing even more stress after months and months of intense stress. In the beginning, you are likely not going to have a lot of choices. Remember, any of these vaccines are going to be given whats called emergency use authorization, which is essentially a special permit to be able to offer this vaccine to limited populations. So it will not be as easy as being able to go to your cvs. Some good insight there from our nbc news medical contributor. So what comes next . We talked about that Astrazeneca Oxford vaccine. Almost every medical expert you talk to will say they are astonished, happy of course that this is happening at such a rapid speed, all within a year of the original coronavirus. Guys, back to you. Thank you, raj. Good information. In the meantime, the rest of us have to do what we have to do to stay healthy, and thats proving to be an issue here in california because covid cases are at an alltime high. In fact, this is officially the worst surge weve seen in the pandemic since it began. Let me show it to you. The chart behind me shows when we reached our daily 14 average average of new cases that the state sees every day. This was the first surge that we had back in the summer, right . This is at the end of july. Our highest average then was 9,504 cases a day, a day. Cases then went down through august and september, and now look where we are here. We started to see that surge kind of tick up again in october, and then theyve just been going up at an alarming rate. Here we are, november 22nd. The daily average, 14day average, now 9,894 cases a day. And right now theres no sign of that slowing down. The Public Health Department Says the covid rate and hospitalizations are the highest theyve ever been in the south bay, so now the old attitude of handing out citations as a warning is about to end. Shops that dont enforce rules such as capacity limits or social distancing or crowds ignoring face masks wont get a break. Once you get a citation, there is an appeals process, but there is no longer a grace period. Youre going to have to pay that citation. How much is the citation . Well, it varies depending on the violation. It can range from 500 upwards. Reporter many people we talked to supported the idea but some said it was a bit much. Im not a fan of having any kind of roaming enforcement. I think weve been educated enough. At this point the question isnt education, i think its the will to comply. Reporter Public Health officials agree the time for just Public Education is past. Enhanced enforcement will start on thanksgiving day and run through the weekend at least because Public Health officials have not ruled out continuing that enforcement afterwards.
