Meteorologist kari hall, the rain is moving on out, moving to the east. We are seeing quite a bit of rain across the bay area into parts of the east bay and we are seeing this rain, pockets of heavy downpours around walnut creek and concord and some rain near berkeley. We are going to see some of the heavier pockets of rain right around san leandro and on 580 so that may slow you down for the commute. Heading over to san mateo and parts of the peninsula dealing with heavy rain where we see the dark greens and yellow. Still raining in los gatos and over the Santa Cruz Mountains that will be moving into the city within the next few minutes. We do still have a lot of rain to tracking a the lingering rain continues. Well talk about whats ahead coming up. Mike, how is it looking with all the rain on the roads . The green radar on your maps is where it was raining on our maps. Well show that highlighted in green as well. The bay bridge toll plaza wet lanes, now clear lanes so traffic is moving smoothly. Look at the map where there is a crash blocking your left lanes, plural, you have to get over to your right as you pass by the exit. We have some slowing but still an alert from chp. Theres Something Holding them up from clearing the lanes. I will check and watch for the slick conditions everywhere else around the bay as kari said. Back to you. Breaking news were following, pfizer says final results of its covid machine shows its 95 effective. The drug company just finished phase three testing and will submit within days to the fda for final approval. It expects to make 15 million doses this year and 1. 2 billion by the end of 2021. It said it was 90 effective and moderna said on monday that its vaccine was 94. 5 effective. Pfizers vaccine does need to be stored in extremely cold temperatures. Doctors say the next two weeks will be critical in slowing the covid19 surge across the bay area. About 12 will become hospitalizations in the next two to three weeks. There are concerns the system could become overwhelmed. Santa clara hospitals had 87 patients in midoctober and in San Francisco were talking about a similar situation there. In october 17 patients were hospitalized. Now there are 39. Luckily those hospitals arent overwhelmed like in other states just yet. We have capacity, we have medications, we have ppe, but things can change very quickly. She says if everyone brought in was wearing a mask and social distancing there would be few cases in a month. As much as the bay area in the purple tier, Indoor Dining has stopped. Stores can only operate at 25 capacity. Gyms and Fitness Centers can only operate outdoors. The changes went into place at midnight. Some say theyre finding patio heaters and propane to fill them. The fda has granted emergency approval to an east bay company for testing kits made by lucera health. Its rapid and gives results in 30 minutes. No shipping a sample to a lab, waiting days for results. The fda says its important for getting more people tested and quicker. You swab your nose, swirl that swab in a vial and put it in a portable device that will tell you if you have covid or not. Results within 30 minutes. Here is the catch, you need a prescription to get the test. It will cost you 50 but it will be available in the spring. A lot of people have been wondering is the states case against uber and lyft still ongoing. Attorneys for the Ride Share Companies are scheduled back in october. A lot has changed since then. Many believe the case is thin at best and will likely fail or more likely be dropped. The pandemic is not slowing down. Home buyers are just trying to make it in the bay. Single family home prices hit a regard high. Prices were up by 19 in october. The average price hit just over 1 million, up by 17 from last year. Time to get a look at the forecast. Its looking like i have better news, i think, for the majority of cars heading in through San Francisco getting to the city westbound 80. Thats your direction as we look at the map, wet roads across both sides of the bay. Starting yesterday and still have wet effects on the roadway. Eastbound 80 that does have the crash, so eastbound 80 your left lanes are blocked as you head past fremont street and on to the lower deck. If youre coming across the westbound direction youre okay. So lets soak in every drop thats falling right now as we are taking a look at where we are seeing the downpours right now on storm ranger. Thats the red scan that youre seeing there moving around the bay area. And giving us a second by second update on where were seeing the wet weather. Now weve seen the showers moving through and up to san rafael, as we move to the east bay the rain is heavier especially up around pittsburgh and will be approaching antioch within the next few minutes. We do have very heavy rain moving through danville as well as san ramon, blackhawk, and were also seeing some rain down the peninsula right on 280 near wood side. Heavy rain is moving in that direction that may make some puddles. Lets take a look at how much rain weve measured. Its been great to see the rainfall totals. Napa about half an inch. About a little over 0. 3 in san jose near alum rock almost a quarter inch of rain but downtown not as much. Scotts valley had about an inch and a half. Berkeley hills measures 0. 8 of rain. Morgan hill almost half an inch. In livermore almost a quarter inch in the trivalley. A few lingering showers and then for the north bay a chance of rain by late morning into the early afternoon. For the most part well see the rain moving out. Some breezy winds. Tomorrow the rain will be out of here. Were only looking at highs that will reach into the upper 50s to lower 60s. That verdict will be read this morning. 60yearold Roy Charles Waller is accused of attacks in six counties here in Northern California including three here in the bay area. Authorities arrested waller with the help of dna evidence. His trial took place in sacramento. Jurors only received that case yesterday and had a verdict within hours.
