Take a look at what we may have noticed over the weekend, some of that smoke drifting through the air over the weekend looking a little hazy and if you are sensitive to the smoke you do need to limit your time outside today as we take a look at our air quality, mainly moderate, meaning that its just above the threshold of getting good air quality. At times we may see smoke coming in. In san jose were at 51 degrees. As we go through sunrise, keep in mind it will be at 6 30 and the sun will set at about 5 00 today. We are going to see some upper 60s as we head through 10 00 as we make plans for the morning. Taking a look at all of our highs today along the coastline, spots like Half Moon Bay will reach into the upper 60s while San Francisco will reach into the upper 70s. Were in the beginning of november and were talking about highs up to 88 degrees in morgan hill and up to 86 degrees today in livermore. So we have the strong area of High Pressure across the region keeping it warm. Gradually it will move away and allow for some cooling to happen. Well be watching out for the rain chances possibly on sunday. But as of right now were staying mostly dry and, of course, our warm start to the week. Take a look at our trends going from 85 today to 70 on friday and this weekend it will only reach into the 60s. So here is our winter weather. Mike, how is it looking now for the commute . Hey, lets take a look out here, we have changes, first of all, over there, lakeville highway. We had that crash but that has cleared without any further incident and thats good news. Reporter good morning. A man paid about 5,000 from Bassett Furniture and a Protection Plan was supposed to cover accidental rips and tears in the fabric. Just a year later he spotted this hole. So he says he called the service provider. His claim was denied because the Protection Plan company said it was a seam rip not a tear. Jake thought that was unfair. So he asked us for help. We reached out to Bassett Furniture. It agreed to replace the so if a cover as a goodwill gesture. Bassett told us the service plan specifically doesnt cover seam separations, and it considered jakes case a seam rip. Bassett said that it wants to make everyone aware of what the actual warranty says so there are no misunderstandings should a fabric separate at the seam going forward. Thats good advice. Definitely so, thanks so much, kris. Some businesses are actually boarding up their windows in case there are protests in the hours or days after the election. Bob redell is live for us. There is a new survey showing growing anxiety among voters. Correct, marcus and laura, as voter turnout seems to be breaking records not only here in the bay area but across the country. Americans are all reporting high levels of stress over this election. According to a survey conducteded by the Association Almost 70 reported election stress, specifically voters are concerned about the divisiveness in the country, the integrity and what may happen tomorrow night and in the days following the election. You compare that 70 back to 2016 when the number was 52 . Add to that voters are reminded in this election 24 7 by cable news and social media. Well, of course if youre heading out there, you home for nice weather out there, kari. I know a lot of people are hoping for nice weather when they head to the polls. Yes, we are going to see some great weather for today especially as we head out to those polls in the north bay. Its going to be a chilly start, but then starting to warm up. Here we are at 8 00 and its still in the low 50s, some light jacket weather noontime, very comfortable with the low 70s. Our high temperatures at about 2 00 to 3 00 this afternoon. Up to 84 today in san jose. Well talk about a cooldown in our forecast coming up. Mike, how is it looking now for the commute . The north bay does have a problem, a concern about a motorcycle driver involved in the crash over my shoulder. Westbound 80 heading to the carquinez bridge. Outer lanes are blocked by the crash activity. The person who called it in was pretty shaken up. Im still waiting for word on the motorcycle rider. Thats out of vallejo for west 80. The rest of the bay shows a normal build, a little slowing at the incline off the bay bridge toll plaza but no problem at the toll plaza yet and a little build out of the Altamont Pass which is standard. A headsup that our sun will rise at about 6 30 this morning and setting a little after 5 00. We are going to start out with some upper 40s, but a nice warmup is headed our way. As we reach into the 70s by late morning. Well talk more about this as well as the cooler weekend ahead coming up in a few minutes. And, kari, you said the magic words, the metering lights are on just a tu minutes ago just after my last report. The middle lanes and coming off the 880 overcrossing already. Across and down were looking at palo alto. 101 moves smoothly on that side of the bay. To delays between San Francisco and silicon valley, where the build is focused in the for the bay coming up. Sounds good. Well check back with you, mike. It is the last full day before election day, the two candidates are visiting key states. Millions of people will vote tomorrow. Of course millions have already voted as well. Thats right, and thats the key issue, counting all those votes. States were not prepared, marcus, to deal with this level of voting, all those votes will be counted but it is going to take time. Well get back to that in a second. Lets look at the latest polls youre going to see. These are the last polls youll see for four years. The latest nbc wall street journal poll shows Vice President biden comfortably ahead in national numbers. As weve said so many times this is not how we elect a president. It doesnt matter if more americans today favor one candidate over another. What matters is the states themselves. In this case, though, biden is ahead there as well. These are battleground states. Wisconsin, which trump won in 2016, well in the biden camp, according to the latest New York Times poll. Pennsylvania has biden up six points, well ahead in the traditionally red state of arizona. Florida pretty close to the margin of error. Now over the weekend the Texas Supreme Court said driveup balloting could continue. That was challenged by the local Republican Party there though that same party had agreed to the concept of driveup voting and actually contributed some ideas as to how to make it happen. Of course the u. S. Supreme court has given states extra time to count ballots. These are legitimate ballots submitted on or before election day. You know what would have been really nice, though, if our Supreme Court could have ruled at that everything has to be counted by evening of our election, our great election day. Wouldnt that be nice . Instead of waiting around six days, eight days, nine days giving them more time again, its really not uncommon for any race, particularly local offices, to count ballots for hours or days after polls close. In the past youve seen candidates declared projected winners by the media when perhaps 30 of the votes still arent in. That is unlikely to happen this time. Just keep in mind, again, those ballots sent in on or before election day are still part of the election. Lets go back out on the campaign trail. Folks, in two days we can put an end to a president who has failed to protect this nation. In two days we can put an end to a presidency that fans the flames of hate, pour gasoline on every opportunity he has all across this nation. That was joe biden at a rally in pennsylvania at a Church Parking lot. Biden will stick to pennsylvania and ohio today, the last full day of campaigning. President trump will hold rallies in four states, michigan, north carolina, pennsylvania, and wisconsin. Im running as a proud democrat. Im going to govern as an american president. There will be no blue states or red states, just the united states. Biden says hes running as a proud democrat. Im running as a proud american. Is that okay . Of course were tracking everything as it happens more and more quickly, the news moving so fast. Were talking about it on twitter. You can find me there. Im scottmcgrew. Scott, thank you. 5 48 for you this morning. A los angeles Police Officer is recovering this morning. This is after a shootout at a grocery store. This happened last night when police and a suspect exchanged fire. This was inside the store. One officer was hit.
