The area has been without afternoon. Windy weather prompted pg e to activate a

power shut off. Its a good idea. X8x that is one less way that the fires can start. The windy conditions indeed cause damage in the neighborhood. A downed service box and a loose transformer kept crews busy. They had to repair at 36 locations. It could have provided a spark. For a fire. That is thee÷ reason why we shu off the power for safety. C7bile catastrophic fire. The power has been shut off multiple times and evacuated twice. The family is getting by with a whole house generator. But even once the power is on, they wont rest easy. Were not out of the woods yet. Its hot and8 h m windy. And until it starts raining were in danger. Everything is so dry. Were back here live. Where the power is back on. Just in time for dinner. 0k we are told about 4,600 people in napa county have had their power restored so far. There are 6,300 customers that are still waiting for their electricity to be turned on. nominee. 49 attach the same importance as past elections. Regardless of who you vote for, tens of thousands of people in the bay area have x[1hcvoted. With concerns about voter fraud. Theres interest in how signatures on ballots are verified. You have to sign pt the ballot it to be counted. And make sure the signature matches. We go behind the scenes today. To show the process. Here in santa clara this is where ballot signatures are verified manually. By 17 members of the election staff. When ballotsxvi arrive here, th are sorted and photographs are taken of every signature on each. A staff memberkls÷ compares the signature images with what the voter has on file. From registering to vote. The dmv and other public records. If staff discovers an inconsistency, the ballot is then sent to election staff. Q verification training. That examines the loops, dots and dashes and slants. One ballot was flagged while we watched. Instead of the normal signature. A person just scribbled their initials. There was nothing that looked dktsame. Signatures that dont match are sent to election supervisor. Who decide whether or not to send this letter to the voter. Asking for a second signature. To verify the ballot. So far, the county has sent out 266 letters to people who have already voted. Sign my name different ways. So i asked if that would be a concern. The loops and the slants are the same. And that would be counted as yes. Nonmatching signatures are actually fairly rare. The more common problem is voters forget to sign the ballot. Or print their name instead of cursive. Which requires signature verification. Even if you do get this letter, everyone after election day. Your vote will be counted. If you send the form back with your signature by december 1. If you encounter any type of problems while voting or dropping off your ballot, let us know. Firefighters were worried about not being able to get it under control because of the wind. Crews put it out before it spread. Pg e power shut offs to blame for the fire today in the

. Two homes went up in flames. Sky ranger over head. You can see the damage down below. This is the same area of the 1991

fire storm. You can imagine the concern. Most likely the cause of the fire today a generator. We have the details. This could have gotten ugly quickly. Its heart pounding. Reporter firefighters quickly battle the flames on crown avenue. Two hopes damaged. She was at work around 10 00 a. M. When her husband called. He was home at the time. The fire started. He heard a big explosion. And he walked outside and saw a wall of 40 foot flames. He had to run for his life. Firefighters say an over loaded generator likely started the fire. That is significant because you can hear the hum of the generators throughout the neighborhood. Even after the fire. Neighbor says when power was shut off by pg e who hours ago. Many turned to generators. Despite some voicing concerns. We talked about it. I said no way. We have a van. We were able to go charge our phones and eat in the van. Some of the neighbors have been using generators. I imagine some people have medical issues. With the strong wind and dry conditions this is what neighbors feared this morning. A repeat of the 1991 oakland fire storm that killed 25 people. And burned close to 3,000 homes. 91 fire is in our hearts sp minds every day. The power is back on in lafayette. A chopper inspected the lines. Pg e performed ground inspections. Crews found 13 piece of equipment damaged by yesterdays wind storm. 345,000 customers across the state in the dark because of the fire danger. About 95,000 here in the bay area. We do forecast roughly 8,000 customers that we believe will extend into tomorrow. Pg e went onto say the 8,000 will have the power back on noon tomorrow. Whats the delay . Crews are inspecting the power lines they need to before the power goes back on. They are using air support. And also on the ground. Those inspections have to be done before anything can change. So far pg e says they found at least 130 spots where the equipment was damaged during the wind event. Crab season maybe missing from the table this thanksgiving. The commercial crab fishing season is supposed to have started on november 15. But it could be delayed. Because of a new rule established by the
California Department
of fish and wildlife. It gives the department the ability to close or limit commercial fishing in areas where whales or sea turtles are migrating. The fear is they can tangle in the net. We found after a week the service is right where its always been for years. Between 98 and 99 successful delivery. My partner and i were walking the dog. April usual walk through her neighborhood earlier this month turned unusual. When she stumbled upon something strange. I saw a huge pile of mail in the street. She went to take a look. Covered with mail. There were five ballots in it. Right here. You picked the mail up and looked and found ballots. You could see them on top. One was open. I didnt have my phone. I picked them up and took a picture and document it. In an election where a
