The Dolores Huerta foundation. Californians for safety and justice. And the California Democratic party. They all agree that the size of your wallet shouldnt determine whether or not youre in jail. So, vote yes on prop 25. Welcome back at 7 11. We now bring in chuck todd, nbc news political director and moderator of meet the press. Hi, chuck. Good morning to you am thanks, as always, for joining us. When we look at last weeks final second and final president ial debate as opposed to third and final, what impact, if any, do you see it having on undepp si undecided voters . We have Something Like 55 Million People have already cast their ballots. What impact do you even think it will have . Well, look, i think it could have had a little bit of impact on the remaining undecided. Weve done actually an extensive study and the folks and its a small slice. Weve had approximately 3 to 4 of people telling us theyve been undecided for about ten straight months. We put all that data together. And what we saw is that the current undecided vote generally leans right. They would prepare a Republicancontrolled Congress and there are some right leaning feelings but President Trump has made them hesitant, his personality and character. What i think that debate might have done for the president and i say might have because we havent seen a lot of analytic evidence yet is make it easier for those voters who are already inclined to vote republican to, quote unquote, come home. Republican Senate Candidates who were just cratering beginning with that first debate performance by the president , they were all relieved. They felt as if the president had righted the ship a little bit. Look, just the fact the president was able to take that one comment about the oil and gas industry and at least give his Campaign Something to run on. That said i thought joe biden handled himself pretty well at the debate other than the last comment, which they would argue, hey, its nothing he hasnt said before, you know, he sort of is in the do no harm position right now. But, look, i think thats the question. If it had any impact, i think it had an impact on a small slice of folks and comes down to are you vettioting on character or specific issues . Thats a great point. Some president ial races tighten at the end, others become blowouts, landslides. Given the road taken by this race so far, i mean, this is a crystal ball question really. Bring it out. How do you see it ending . Do you see it ending as a land biter or as a landslide . Look, alm l of the data poin to all of the data points to a joe Biden Victory right now. All of the historical political context with incumbent president s perform, what his job rating is, there is no metric i look at that you say, oh, if he wins reelection, that will explain it. That said, i think we are uncertain in how this election will be administered. And i think because of that, that, to me, is the wild card here. Look, i think its as plausible joe biden wins by 15 points as he does maybe carries the popular vote by five and its a nailbiter in the electoral college. Thats the range were looking at. Do realize joe biden could win the popular vote by five or six points and we may not know who is at 270 for a week or two. I do think there are why theres a wide array of outcomes because of that phenomenon. And to be fair, that was an unfair question, so thank you for all of that insight. Of course. And all of your professionalism. We look forward to talking to you a week from now. Thanks as always, chuck. Be sure to join chuck for meet the press with Biden Deputy Campaign manager kate benningfield as well as Trump CampaignSenior Adviser corey lewandowski. Be sure to join in at 8 00 a. M. In other news now we have incredible video of a coast guard rescue off the coast of san francisco. Crew members onboard a fishing boat called for help after a passenger started showing heart attack symptoms. The 46foot fishing boat was about a half mile south of the farallon islands. This shows a member of the coast guard lowered down into the boat, and then you can see the passenger right here hoisted up to the coast guard helicopter and then taken to sfo where emergency crews were waiting. We are still waiting on that patients condition. Like almost Everything Else the pandemic is changing how well shop for our kids this Holiday Season. This year its going to be plants. I already decided. You have become quite the plant queen. So, yeah, thats a perfect gift. All right. Lets get to your microclimate weather alert. We have a lot to get through, but im here to guide you through it and talk about what were expecting this afternoon. Right now we have a beautiful start over san jose. 56 degrees. Wind speeds are still calm over san francisco, a great view there. 56 degrees. And here is a closer look at your daytime highs. Once again temperatures arent going to be the problem today. Its going to be the wind. The wind is going to be the main event. Temperatures will remain in the 70s, which is a little bit more seasonable for this time of year. So lets get right to the red flag warning and what we are monitoring. So, again, there are two red flag warnings and they are going to be overlapping. The reason there are two overlapping warnings is because of the timing of these winds. So depending on where you live you will see the winds kick up at different times. The north bay and east bay mountains will officially go into a red flag warning. As the wind pushes down from the north and that will remain in effect until 11 00 a. M. Tuesday. The valleys and Santa Cruz Mountains, the winds will begin to kick up right around dinner time. So a red flag warning will go into effect starting at 8 00 p. M. And will have a shorter timeslot through about monday morning. Now its very rare that the entire bay area is under a red flag warning. So what makes this wind event so different . The high wind watch will go into effect at 4 00 p. M. Normally what we get is we get cold air so we have a cold front that sinks down at night and basically it drives down our hills and it warms up and speeds up overnight and that kicks up the wind. This time around, this cold front is going to move from north to south. And the concern for that is the reason why we will be seeing potentially one of the strongest wind events of the season. The National Weather service is also calling for that as well. Humidity will fall below 30 . So i want to take you through the timing of these winds. Right now its calm. But lets look at the timing of all of this. 11 cho 11 00 is when it kicks in. We see the winds drive down from the north look at santa rosa and napa. Fast forward to dinner time. I told you about dinner time. Look what happens to the winds in santa rosa and throughout the entire bay area. From 20 to 60mileperhour gusts. Overnight is where we could see the peak winds. Look at santa rosa. 38. Napa 50plusmileperhour winds. When you think how windy it starts to get think about all of that dry brush out there. Here is the fire index and humidity in relation to the wind. As those winds begin to drive up, what happens it dries us out completely and then we fall below 9 . This is at 11 30. Overnight less than 10 in some areas especially for the Higher Elevations. Down through san jose, redwood city, less than 15 . The winds will begin to diminish just a bit, at least for the lower elevations starting on monday. We could still see winds begin on wednesday. We start to warm up just a bit heading into the end of the week. Ill keep a close eye on this. Back to you. The end of the week looks really nice. I just hope were safe between now and then. Thanks so much. It is 7 21. Much more ahead on today in the bay coming up. Reporter is Customer ServiceGetting Better or worse . Im chris chmura. We want to hear from you. Reporter were looking to take the pulse of the people together with our nbc and telemundo sister stations nationwide conducting a survey about Customer Service. This is your chance to tell us what you think. Reporter service with a smile. The way it was. This is a recording. Reporter the way it is, does a smiley emoji from an Automated Bot count as service. Weve heard from hundreds of people. Waited and waited and didnt get anything. Reporter who harshly criticized their contacts with all sorts of Customer Service centers. I might as well start a fire and try to send smoke signals. Theyre more likely to answer that than the phone or email. Reporter many feel service is trending downward with business innovation. In the past you had three ways to contact the company. In person, by phone or by mail. These days you can also email, text, post on social media, and, yes, even chat with a bot. All that modernization is a mixed bag for Customer Service with all the new sounding boards, theres outsourcing, long hold times, and bots that, well, just dont get it. Its frustrating. Customer service is all about fundamentals but, unfortunately, just the way businesses often operate, those fundamentals get thrown out the window for efficiency. Reporter Christine Churchill is founder of the Customer Service institute of america. For 13 years the institute has Trained Companies in Customer Service and awarded companies that deliver. We certify, educate and we recognize. Reporter so what is churchi churchills take today . Are customers keeping up with expectations . Are people demanding too much. I think sometimes consumers can be unreasonable, but i think what they want is to be recognized. They want to have an organization or the person theyre talking to understand what it is that they need and to not feel like a number. Reporter theres lots more to discuss. Please tell us what you think about Customer Service in the year 2020. Do you have a horror story to share or maybe a Success Story . Here is how you can sound off. Well have the survey up and running two weeks and then will be back with results in november. Thank you in advance for participating. Youre welcome, chris chmura. I think im going to participate. I have had some really good Customer Service this year. I think compassion has ignited during 2020. It is 7 26. We have much more ahead on today in the bay coming up. As vianey has been telling us, the clock is ticking for dangerous conditions. People proactively evacuating as the worst winds yet bear down on the bay area. Were tracking it all for you. Plus a do it yourself covid test, where you can buy them and get tested in the comfort of your own home. Good morning. It is sunday, october 25th. A live look outside at the rose garden in san jose. Cloudy skies there a little bit, but a nice, calm morning ahead of some historic winds that are expected to pick up later today. Thank you so much for starting your sunday with us. Im kira klapper. Vianey arana joins us with our microclimate forecast. We remain under a microclimate weather alert because of these winds. Thats right. The reason we issued those warnings and alerts are because we just want you all to be prepared at home. We dont want to you get caught off guard. We want to you have a game plan when this wind event arrives. A great time to sort of start preparing for this. You have a time to head out, buy some backup batteries for your flashlights, all of that, because heading into tonight those winds will be kicking up. 56 degrees at san jose. A great start. The niners dont have to worry too much about todays wind event because they will be away playing against the new England Patriots at 1 25 our time here, west coast time. Theyre going to be chilly, 49 degrees to start the game. By halftime theyll have a nice mix of sun and clouds, 50 degrees, and then it will start dipping down into the lower 40s. So certainly going to see much cooler temperatures in the east coast. Bringing it back home if they were playing here locally at levis stadium this is what we would be monitoring and that would be the gusty winds. Ahead of this afternoon red flag warnings will kick in. Ill go into more timing in my full forecast. Kira . Sticking with that forecast sadly firerelated evacuations have become the norm for many people across the bay area and this historic wind event were expecting later today has some people proactively evacuating. Today in the bays thom jensen reports from the Berkeley Hills where the mayor took an unprecedented stance urging people to get out now. As always, good morning to you. Great to see you. If we can back up a bit first, before you predict whats about to happen, what was your takeaway from thursday nights debate . It was a great debate. No question about that. It was so much better than the first one. No question there were two instant polls by reputable authorities, cnn, yougov. Averaged out 16 1 2 points, a pretty convincing win, but lets not get too carried away with anybody winning anything. Hillary clinton won all three debates in 2016 and you know who won the presidency. Exactly. How does the race look at this moment . Well, its interesting. Theres a point where the Vice President is up 8. 1 points nationally. I went back and looked at where Hillary Clinton was nine days out. She was up 5. 3 . Thats a pretty convincing difference. Mike pence is up seven, eight, nine, ten points. That looks good for him. National leads are not insurmountable. Look back to 2016. You know they keep trudging ahead. What is the breakdown looking like in two states . Thats the right question. State by state. Theres no question about that. Look, the blue wall, weve all heard about the blue wall, traditionally democratic. Trump won all three states and that was the key to his victory in 2016. Vice President Biden is comfortable but between six and nine points. Thats pretty good. For him, as far as the president goes, hes in trouble there. He hasnt been doing well with the blue wall. He has to look elsewhere. Theres a long series of states he won the last time around hes in trouble on this time. Texas for one thing, is two points ahead for biden. Florida and North Carolina, ohio, ohio, all these states are close or with slight edges to biden. The president will win some of those states. If he doesnt get the blue wall he has to score in every one of those states beginning with florida and texas. And so metaphorically, literally where do the candidates go from here . Theyre going to go to the battleground states, again, again, and again. You saw yesterday the president was in three of them, North Carolina, ohio, wisconsin, all three we talked about. Today hell go to new hampshire. We dont quite understand why hes going there. You would think he would go to texas or arizona. North carolina is a key state. The Vice President has been holding his own in North Carolina. They are going to go back again and again and again, kira because they both know these are the key states. More so for the president right now, nine days out. More so for the president than for the Vice President. Hes okay with the blue wall but if he can pick off florida or texas or ohio then it becomes something of a rout. Kind of sticking with those travel plans, is there any indication that either of the candidates will be here in california over the next nine days . Im a born and bred californian so i feel i have the ability to say, you know, are we just a mute point at this point . Were pretty predictable. Were not moot if you get out your wallet. California has contributed 988 million between 2019 and today. That far surpasses anyone else. Theyll come here all right. Theyll come here. The one who needs it the most is President Trump because in terms of available cash right now biden has an unexpected 31 edge. You might see the president pop in to californias atm. Look for them to be in the heartland, in the battleground states and im afraid thats where youll be able to see the pictures. We will check in with you next sunday for your final update and we are back in a moment with vianeys final look at weather. Good sunday morning. Were starting off our day with a microclimate weather alert. Even though we have a lot of sunshine expected for today, we have elevated fire danger. And i am going to guide you through the timing of all of this. You are well prepared. Of course it will depend on where you live in terms of the time line. Lets get right to it. San francisco, 56 degrees right now. We have a great shot there. Notice the wind speeds are pretty calm but theyre going to start picking up. The first to see the winds will be those who live in the north bay. Overall our temperatures will be comfortable, seasonable in the 60s for the coastline and 70s throughout the interior valleys. The main event today will be that wind, that red flag warning for the north bay and the east bay mountains goes into effect starting at 11 00 a. M. Today, and it remains in effect through tuesday. The reason why this wind event has the potential to be one of the strongest weve seen so far this year is because of where that cold front and the direction is coming from. So its coming from the north. The winds will push down from the north and thats really going to kick off this offshore wind event into the afternoon. Now a second overlapping red flag warning goes into effect at the coast, bay and valleys including the Santa Cruz Mountains starting at 8 00 p. M. On sunday and this will last through monday morning. So one expires tomorrow and that puts the entire bay area under a red flag warning which, by the way, is not very common. Normally we see the red flag warning for the Higher Elevations above 1,000 feet. But this time around the winds are going to drive down pushing down into the lower elevations as well. The high wind watch goes into effect starting at 4 00 p. M. Tonight into early sunday morning. The reason for this is because those gusty offshore winds have the potential to be upwards of 50plus miles per hour. That humidity is expected to be really dry. I want to show you the current wind speeds now. Its very calm but look at the time line. Fast forwarding this into the overnight hours as well. Right around lunch time well notice the winds kicking up in the north bay. Fast forward through 9 00, 10 00, 11 00 tonight. All above the 30mileperhour range. Fast forward to about monday at 4 00 a. M. And the winds really begin to kick up so, again, peak hours overnight tonight into monday. Look at the humidity falling at less than 10 at times, and thats why we have this major concern because not only are we expecting gusty conditions but the winds are expected to really begin to peak overnight when most people are sleeping which is why weve been urging for you to have some sort of game plan should it be necessary. Good thing the niners are away. Well be comfortable in the 40s and 50s by halftime playing against the new England Patriots. Here it will be windy and well be looking out for that. Thanks, vianey and thanks so much to you for making us a part of your morning. No 5 00 or 6 00 p. M. News. Its football night in america. Have a great sunday. Stay safe. Plus the bay area will be busy voting this weekend. We break down the top issues bringing people to the ballot boxes. Today in the bay monday from 4 30 to 7. Happening today. This sunday, the closing arguments. This election is a choice between a trump super recovery or biden steep depression. Some President Trump attacking joe biden with false claims. Joe biden is and has always been a corrupt politician and as far as im concerned,ed biden is a criminal enterprise. I lastditch effort to smear me and my family. The president
