A week ago i was standing in this exact spot but a week ago, a row of houses were on fire from that glass fire. This was just one of the houses. About three driveways in and we are standing where the driveway was. You can see what appears to be the garage. There is a tool box, what looks to be a piece of exercise equipment. Even an hvac system in this home that is completely destroyed. If we keep walking, the next door neighbor had a similar story. In the driveway next door is a truck that was left when everyone was told to evacuate. You can see this truck no longer usable. Completely burned inside, outside, windows broken and all around it, you you can see the pink stucco siding of this home. A week ago, i can tell you it was just hard to watch what was going on in a lot of these homes. O o when the wind picked up, the homes would reignite causing the firefighters to leave a home may not have been as bad to come back to put out these flames. You keep walking and it is more of the same. This house in particular, the one with the framing standing was the one we first encountered when we arrived on scene. When we arrived it was probably 3 30 monday morning. The house wasnt completely damaged but as the winds continue to pick up throughout the morning, the house became more engulfed. Its a story that we have seen play out in probably a dozen houses in this neighborhood and on the week anniversary of this, a lot of folks still really emotional not only because their homes are gone but they dont know what is happening. This marks the threeyear anniversary of the tub fire. We had a chance to speak with someone who lives here in santa rosa and recalling what it was like to evacuate three years ago and discussing the uncertainty not knowing what is going on with the fire burning right now. I grain of salt and stay with the man upstairs. You cant do nothing about it. I was go back to a house or deal with the insurance company. Out of my control is the way i look it. Back out here at the sky hawk neighborhood, another home is destroyed by those flames. Planters are the only thing left standing at this home. Just a really tough situation for the folks that live in this community. Last week, i interviewed a gentleman and he spoke of how when folks come back its not going to be a neighborhood any more and you can see based on what is happening behind me when those neighbors do finally come back this isnt the neighborhood they once knew. While we see the green botts here showing that the bay and the coast and south bay and Santa Clara Valley have good air quality. A couple of things could make our air quality better. The possibility of some rain. Im watching this weakening hurricane that was marie moving well off to the south of here but may get drawn into an area of low pressure and getting wid rain. We are not expecting that to come in until friday and another system behind that on saturday. Two shots we could see the possibility of downpours here and between those two, our computers models are putting down a quarter inch of rain in the inland areas but as high as an inch shroacross the escalato mountains. The weekend, we are talking highs in the mid70s and also some improvements in our air quality as well for San Francisco. We are going to see low 70s today but 60s throughout much of the week.
