Tonight we have learned there are new evacuation orders in napa county. The town of calistoga still remains evacuated but also now areas west of there from highways 29 and 128 to the county line between Diamond Mountain road and Petrified Forest road. Residents there told to leave right now. Also the town of angwin and the area of pope valley. This map shows the fires perimeter today. You can see its burning in both napa and sonoma counties. A sliver of good news tonight, containment has gone up slightly from zero to 2 . The flames have burned more than 46,000 acres, destroying at least 113 structures. That includes 28 homes in Sonoma County and 52 homes in napa county. Several wineries damaged or destroyed as well as several hotels. Thousands of people remain under evacuation orders and warnings at this hour. The danger at this hour is surrounding so many communities and also so many people. Now, firefighters have been here for hours trying to protect homes, creating a firebreak here, and this battle has been going on for hours. As you can see, this homeowner has nothing to return to, and yet 20, 30 feet away, next door neighbor, that house largely intact. So very different results. But one thing that everybody up here seems to have in common is theyre getting really good at running for their lives. Montana and his wife, jennifer, were able to stop her. 39yearold Sodsai Predpring Dalzell was formally charged today. She faces attempted kidnapping, first degree burglary. The womans attorney said his client did not know who joe montana was and shes very sorry. Dalzell entered a not guilty plea. A judge set bail at 200,000. We also have new details about an sjpd use of force investigation. An officer was charged today with unlawful assault and battery. This after video surfaced showing a woman getting kicked and dragged during a traffic stop. What did i tell you . This video was posted on various social media platforms and quickly went viral. It is shaky, as you can see, but it shows the woman laying handcuffed outside a silver car at a mcdonalds parking lot in downtown san jose. This was back in july. At one point the officer appears to kick her in the side, handcuff her, and then drag her several feet across the ground. That officer, officer matthew rodriguez, faces one year in jail if convicted. New at 11 00, major cutbacks at disney. The company says the lack of revenue is causing layoffs for 28,000 employees. Nearly 70 of the workers who are being laid off are parttime workers. Disneyland in orange county, which remains closed, is one of the hardest hit parks by the layoffs. Getting the green light to go orange. Today San Francisco became the first county in the bay area to get the goahead from the state to move from the red tier into the less restrictive orange tier. That means more restrictions will be lifted. The biggest change, restaurants can serve more customers now indoors. Contra costa county also moved up a tier, going up from the most restrictive purple tier to red. Now, in contra costa county, moving into the red tier means the things you see on your screen can reopen at reduced capacity. Indoor museums, movie theaters, malls, and gyms. The county also says outdoor playgrounds will reopen. The state is actually allowing all outdoor playgrounds to reopen in california with safety restrictions, but its still up to the county to say okay or not. As we mentioned, San Francisco restaurants getting the green light to reopen indoor dining, but only a limited number of people will be allowed inside. Restaurant owners say theyre happy about this step forward but do say it comes with challenges. At francos latin table, thats on west portal, they had a precovid capacity of 44. Now under the new rules, only 11 people can be inside, including staff. Still the owner says anything helps, especially as the weather gets colder. The city has also set a timeline for reopening indoor movie theaters and outdoor playgrounds. Those changes expected to happen starting next week. Back to our breaking News Coverage this evening. At least 113 structures destroyed by flames. But thanks to the quick thinking of napa county sheriffs lieutenant patrick mcmahon, this home on Crystal Springs road in saint helena is still standing. What youre seeing there, the flames is the shed on fire. So lieutenant mcmahon grabbed a garden hose to put water on the home and saved it. The weather a bit more favorable for firefighters. The wind went down. It was a little bit cooler. Lets check in with jeff right now to see what is coming for the days ahead. Jeff. And i still expect, you know, some relatively calm winds as we head through the overnight hours. But it now looks like based on some new data, we could actually see the winds ramp back up again. Not nearly as gusty as what we had sunday night, early monday morning. But there is a new fire weather watch out, and this includes the fire burn zone in the north bay. So you can see it right here. Highest risk would be at 1,000 feet and above in the mountains, again, on and off gusts of 15 to 30 miles per hour, sustained wind of 10 to 20. Wednesday night into friday evening, and humidity 10 to 20 . You can see in my mapping here, i have the fire perimeter which will load on. All of these little fire icons, thats where the satellite detection is continually picking up on some hot spots. On the northern side of the fire lines, also on the eastern side, thats where theres been a lot of trouble in angwin over the past several hours. And st. Helena, thats going to be a spot to watch as winds switch back to the northeast wednesday night into friday. We could see some of those flames move right back towards st. Helena. Tomorrow 87 degrees for the average. I still think well have some 90s in the fire zone. Wind gusts only up to 20. Lets bring you to that hour by hour wind forecast. This has been so critical obviously to the fire fight. 10 30 tomorrow tonight. Look at this color popping up in the key at the top. You can see in the north bay a little yellow. So well be at that 20, 25mileperhour range tomorrow evening. As we head through thursday night, well see it pop a little higher. Some of that orange, close to red would be 30, maybe 35mileperhour wind gusts thursday evening. Then well still stay into a little bit of wind here friday night as well with more of this northerly to northeasterly wind direction returning. So for the wind and also the air quality, this means tomorrow well likely see a little bit more of that poor air from the Central Valley starting to make its way back here. So likely at this point air quality looks a little bit worse here for wednesday. Everybody in that unhealthy range especially the north and the east bay. Temperatures, thats also been another thing were following. It remains hot. Go to the inland valleys, were in the upper 90s. Concord, livermore, antioch. Closer to the bay, 80s in oakland, san jose, palo alto. At the coast, a mix of 60s and also 70s. San francisco, some good news. Well start to cool off once we hit this weekend with plenty of 60s return. For the inland valleys, thats when we get cooler, once we hit saturday and sunday, back down into the 80s. Now, i am seeing some promising data looking out towards next week. Next thursday, friday, and saturday. So, again, not this week, but not week, for maybe some rainfall to get close. That is exactly what we need, so you can bet im going to be staying on top of that forecast, and ill have updates as we get closer to that. Nearly 400 parents signed a letter to the School Board Members asking them to rethink a plan to reopen campuses on october 12th. They want to delay it so the district can include more teacher and Parent Feedback to that plan. No major changes at cal when it comes to distance learning. Today campus leaders sent an email to students letting them know the Spring Semester will be very similar to this current fall semester. The semester will start with all Classes Online for two weeks. Thats so students will be able to selfquarantine after the holidays. Then some classes are fewer than 25 students will be allowed to meet in person. Those classes will also be offered online so students dont have to come back to campus if they choose not to. Oakland International Airport will offer free rapid result covid tests starting next tuesday. The airport will work with City Health Urgent Care to test all pare airport employees including concession airs. The general public can get free tests by scheduling tests through the city website.
