If you were outside anywhere across the bay area, you couldnt miss it. Gorgeous sunsets. Look at that. Weve missed a sunset like that. I vote for the one in the lower righthand corner. Anoushah . Thats your favorite . I like that one. Me too. We agree on it. Rob mayeda joining us now with hopefully some better news when it comes to the weather here. Yeah. You know, i think the sunset that we had around the bay area tonight was spectacular. Thats probably as good as its going to get in terms of what the weather is going to be providing us over the next 24 hours. You see the progression on these maps. Progressively hotter temperatures as we get towards monday. Lets address whats going on outside. Weve got a bit of a wind shift that will be taking place tonight. North winds picking up. 65 in San Francisco right now. Walnut creek still 75 degrees. Thats another thing well notice. The nights are going to trend warmer under strong high pressure. There you see san jose, 67 degrees. We do have a spare the air alert tomorrow. It will be a combination of ground level ozone. Thats the summertime air pollution caused by intense sun light mixing with emissions and things. It builds up ground level ozone. But another surge of wildfire smoke likely dropping out of the north bay. Look as we head into tonight, if youre in the north bay, you see that little pulse of moderate to unhealthy air that comes through. Thats in relation to the north wind which will bring more of that smoke down from the north overnight into tomorrow morning. We begin the day actually pretty warm. Mostly 60s closer to sea level and in the hills we begin the day in the 70s. Thats being driven by these strong north winds. The areas of red and purple. All throughout the Sacramento Valley and at times along the east bay hills. Diablo hills will start to see the wind speeds pick up. The valleys may not see the same gusts were expecting in the mountains. The entire north bay, the inland east bay hills where youll see gusts above 2,000 feet, closer to 45 miles per hour. Also notice the humidity numbers especially by tomorrow afternoon and evening. Possibly in the Single Digits in the north bay. That is the reason why we have the red flag warning all the way through 11 00 on monday. So heres the big jump in temperatures tomorrow. Low to mid90s around san jose. Upper 90s to near 100 degrees inland. In concord, a lot of that depends on the wind. As the winds lighten up later in the day thats when youre going to see these temperatures skyrocket. We do think San Francisco has a chance of 90s tomorrow. In fact, the forecast for tomorrow has trended even hotter for some places there around San Francisco and the north bay, and youre seeing it there. Now, get ready for mondays high temperatures. 97 degrees, San Francisco. Mid90s in oakland. So everyone back into the bigtime heat for monday. Hottest temperatures above 100 degrees. This is why its going to be tough to cool down. Notice the ridge of high pressure. While it weakens slightly and moves just a bit through wednesday and thursday, theres really no open door for a strong sea breeze. Well get some fog on the coast, but that high really doesnt back off. In fact, it just shifts a little bit farther inland on friday. So the extended forecast unfortunately looks recordbreaking hot, at least for the next two days. I think monday very likely ends up being the hotter of the two days with red flag warnings continuing into monday morning. We may see some of this get upgraded from a heat advisory to an excessive heat warning. The way the forecast is trending for monday, we could be getting there. Notice inland, though, not much relief. Well drop into the mid90s wednesday and thursday. Then were hopeful by next weekend a slightly stronger sea breeze should bring those temperatures down into the low 90s. So that isunfortun were seeing. The next 24y, dry, offshore wind. Weve got the air pollution issues andwhh will peak on mond. Again, some places even around bayside locations might be close to 100 degrees on monday. So stay tuned on that. Doesnt sound very pleasant. All right, rob. Thank you. Lets check sports.
