Not just the niners coach, the raiders coach is also facing a hefty fine for not wearing a mask on the side lines last night. How much they are forking over as well as a couple of other coaches. Its a simple reality. Pro athletes and other high profile people in our society are getting tested almost daily. The nfl today reporting that zero players in the National Football league have tested positive as we head into week three of the season. As for the warriors, they began a voluntary mini camp tomorrow at chase center. Tonight the warriors are selfquarantining at a hotel in San Francisco. The entire team and Coaching Staff has tested for a week straight over at chase every morning. Everybodys tested negative. Now we checked into the hotel this morning. Today the nfl fined him 100,000. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan also fined 100,000 for not wearing a mask. All right, lets end on a positive note. What happens after a big win especially when it comes to a in 2 billion brand new stadium near the Las Vegas Strip . Take a look. Pretty cool little tribal dance there. Gruden leading the cheers inside the raiders locker room after they beat the saints last night. The raiders are 2 and 0. Pretty nice to see that. And we should do that after a newscast. Flags placed around the monument each representative of a life lost. She says these deaths were preventable. Thank you for some ways giving some per speskt spective number of lives that have been lost multiplied again and again. And these flags are indicative not only of the lives lost but the families left behind. The muoriel was put on by the covid memorial project. Health experts believe the number may be higher because many covid19 deaths early on were not attributed to coronavirus but to other causes instead. Across the pond infections are skyrocketing in the u. K. And leaders there are taking action. Today Prime MinisterBoris Johnson reimposed a set of restrictions. The number of people who can attend events such as weddings will be limited. Johnson says the goal is to prevent a full lock down with schools and other public spaces shutdown. I want to stress this is by no means a return of the full lock down of march. Were not issuing a general instruction to say at home. We would ensure that businesses can stay open in a covid compliant way, however we must take action to suppress the disease. The restrictions could last as long as 6 months. Well, tonight researchers are warning about new links between smoking, vaping and covid19. Health experts now say they believe smoking and vaping can increase a persons chance of getting the virus. Also the symptoms could be more serious. Researchers say proteins called ace 2 reseppers may serve as entry points for the virus. Smokers often have more of those proteins than nonsmokers. A study showed young people who vape are five times more likely to contract the virus. Doing something that can hurt your lungs right now in a time of respiratory disease pandemic is just not a good idea. New evacuations are under way right now in Southern California as the bobcat fire continue tuesday rage out of control. Flames broke out more than two weeks ago. Crews are battling more than 27 major fires statewide. In all flames have burned a record 26. 3 acres, an area large than the size of connecticut. So much has been lost in the recent bay area fires, homes, businesses and nature. Were taken to the hills above the Santa Clara County town of davenpert where the czu lighting complex fire also claimed history. Reporter along swanton road along the town of davenport. So its heart breaking to see this. Reporter fire rambled through like a train. To have lost history in what was a blink of an eye. Reporter that history a collection of one third size train cars, their journey more winding than any track. You could see the cabs on both locomotives are collapsed. Reporter the locomotives were built to carry visitors around San Franciscos 1915 pan pacific exposition. After the fair they were scattered across california. But then al smith founder of archered supply hardware began collecting the original trains creating swontons pacific railroad. Just the exposure to the heat a lot of stuff melted. We also lost all the passenger cars. They were in the car barn. Reporter but charley crab who took the job as director of the railroad after the fire sees beyond the ash and embers. Its going to take a lot of work to clean it up. Reporter crab believes the engines can be restored, the engines rebuilt. And in a piece of luck one of the engines was away for repairs when it fire happened. That the message tonight from a coalition of public advocacy groups to Alameda County and the oakland as. The as want to build a waterfront stadium and are also negotiating with the city of oakland to buy the other half of the colosseum property. Ridership is way down at vta because of the pandemic. The best scenario reduce the number of bus and train trips during Peak Community hours. The light rail would end an hour earlier. Worst Case Scenario stop all service by 10 00 p. M. With twos bus lines eliminated altogether. Vta says those cuts could save it 70 million a year. And a historic vote today by the Santa Clara County board of supervisors. Santa clara became the first county to make juneteenth a paid holiday. Well, firefighters as we know are dealing with a historic fire season during this pandemic. One east bay company wanted to say thank you to the firefighters at station 26 in castro valley. Sign dreamers east bay setup a sign outside today. People driving by of course honked and cheered. The fires are getting close to home and the small gesture is the least they could do for firefighters. I wanted to do something just to thank them. Its simple, but i wanted to thank them for everything theyve done because they have to be away from family and friends during this time. They also delivered cookies and homemade banana bread. It really is, and thank you so much for all those First Responders as we do have more heat and a dryer wind that will be developing. Were going to go over that in detail for you in about 6 minutes. A bogus text message with real danger is popping up on peoples phones, perhaps yours. Well share the message and a warning about the risk inside. Thats next. He, accused of rape. Vote yes on prop 25 to end money bail. Well, scam artists are using a new tactic to break into your phone. Consumer investigator chris chmura is here. Youve got to protect this thing for sure. Take a look at this. We got a text message that was sent to one of our reporters this week. It reads, personal sorting center, found package addressed to null. Last pickup day is friday. Then theres a link for you to supposedly claim your package or possibly schedule a new delivery date. Our reporter did not tap that link right there, thank goodness. But you can see why many would because like jessica said were all shopping online and you dont want something you oordered online sitting in a delivery warehouse. We asked a mobile security expert what would happen if we had clicked on that link in the text. They can deliver really any sort of phishing attack they want. I think in this case in particular there have been versions of it that have taken people to a fake usps site thats asked for their credit card information for validation. Its pretty risky. If you get a text message with a link in it, dont open it, not even if it comes from a number you recognize. Crooks can spoof the caller i. D. And make you think its from a trusted company or boss or family member. If you get a text with a link, delete it. If youre getting an expected package call to verify. Shake shack is now in the valley fair mall. We didnt see those insane lines the chain usually draws which was great news for customers today. Just to burn off the calories, probably. And shake shack says its not done. It plans to open a location in oaecond location in San Francisco. I have to say a burger and a shake right about now sounds fantastic. And i know youre a burger c connoisseur, jeff. Yeah, i can go for a burger roir right now some fries and a shake. Although right now i have the smell of pop concern in the background. Happy fall, everyone. It did arrive at 6 31 this morning and yesterday we talked about fall and what happens and why the seens change, but another thing i wanted to start off with is as we head through fall why did the leaves change colors, thought this would be a bit of an interesting thing to start with here today. And you can see on my graphic here that the leaves begin to change color in fall because the trees chlorophyll starts to break down and some of those other chemicals that cause some brighter color changes are now heres the cool thing is those brighter colors more likely with late summer dry weather and when autumn has some sunny days and cool nights. So we could be in for some really bright leaf color changes here as we head into the next two months or so. So kind of neat. Happy fall, everyone. Lets get you into tat weather forecast. More excellent news as we do have some good air quality from the north bay all the way down to the south bay, right over to the east bay as well. Temperatures for the morning not that cold to start. Moving down here to 62 in the south bay and see some areas of fog near the peninsula, the bay and also the immediate coast. And my coolest temperature right here in the north bay at 55. I see about a 1 to 2 degree change in temperatures tomorrow going up, just a little bit warmer but all in all i think itll be comfortable. 81 in cupertino, 84 in east san jose. Over in the east bay more of those 80s, a couple of upper 80s near concord, and head closer to the bay, 75 in oakland. More of those 70s for the peninsula into san mateo, but then redwood city, palo alto starting to push into the 8 0z. Then we have that nice cool, clean air tomorrow. 69 in the mission, and for the north bay looking at some of the best weather again. Mill valley, 78 degrees. So the reason why weve had the smoke and these relatively comfortable temperatures is because the storm track is moving right over Northern California and that is helping to push any kind of smoke off towards the east. But were going to see a big change this upcoming weekend. Let me show you what were going to be dealing with, and its all about this area of hot, high pressure. This is going to move in, setup and drive down some dryer northeasterly winds, could even bring a bit of smoke. And then also well see a surge of heat moving in from the south. So were kind of getting hit here on both angles. So in San Francisco thats going to bump up our temperatures saturday to 77. 80s sunday, monday and tuesday which could even bring some low 90s into downtown San Francisco. And for the inland valleys go up to 93 on saturday, 100 sunday, low 100s into early next week. Well likely see the heat wave break now at this point by next thursday which will be 9 31. Fire weather watch in effect where those hills could get stronger gusts 20 to 30 miles per hour. Thats the best we can give you right now. Janelle and jess, its time for maybe a little snack. Ive got pop concern going on in the kitchen. Not quite burger and fries. I feel like youre taunting us. Yeah, the smell of pop concern just overwhelms me. My director actually cooks pop concern right about now, and im waiting for that smell. Youre being a tease, jeff. Id share it with you if i could. Thanks, jeff.
