What did she mean to you oh, man i think everybody thought first of all, we all thought she was super human and would live forever. So it was a huge shock when she passed away. Shes been somebody so inspirational for all of us as human beings jimmy yeah and has lit the way for so many and fought her entire life when she talks about gender equality, shes talking about making it more fair for men and women, for all of us jimmy yeah youve been an activist for many years. Where did your activism come from i think probably my parents my dad was in the army, and i think that when you work within a structure like that, you have a deep sense of social responsibility hes a patriot, and its about serving his country. My mother was a psychiatric social worker, so she worked with people and talked about their problems and social problems i was raised with an idea that you had civic responsibilities jimmy thats pretty cool i didnt know your mom was a psychiatrist yeah, psychiatric social worker jimmy thats fascinating did you go to her for every advice like were your friends like, can i talk to your mom i think whats interesting, i didnt think it had anything to do with me being an actor, but i look back and i had a father who was in the military, and a judge who talked about intention and crime all the time, and a mother who talked about emotions and the family dynamics, so it was all about behavior every night jimmy yeah and look what youve done. Its perfect your new movie the glorias, you play well known activist Gloria Steinem one of the leaders of the feminist movement. The movie is directed by an experimental filmmaker shes so extraordinary, the work she does so its based on Gloria Steinems book my life on the road. But there are four of us that play Gloria Steinem. There are two young girls and then i play gloria from 40 and up so we all sort of play gloria at different points in her life its a portrait not just of her but sort of where the world was at that time and its also a portrait of the Womens Movement so i think its really interesting. Jimmy had you met Gloria Steinem before make thing . I met her, i saw her at the meeting, but there was a lot of us there and then i went to there was a play based on the book, too. Each and every day is hard for us since covid hit, but we are taking every day, one day at a a time we are trying to do whatever we can to survive we have the outdoor seating as jimmy yeah given by new york city, and were just doing whatever we can each day jimmy what happens when it rains . When it rains, it pours jimmy oh, yeah, yeah, yeah so, we are pretty much having we have the scaffolding here, so we have two tables instead of ten so, unfortunately the business gets affected, but its the same for everybody jimmy gosh, i just want to support you and support all the restaurants in new york. Honestly, the menu is just full of our childhood memories, mine, its a modern take on indian food, but we keep the flavors intact jimmy i love how creative this restaurant is and also props to your staff cause everyones so great here, but you can have anything from butter chicken to the Fried Chicken with the honey glaze on it thats spicy.
