Cough, fever, headache are all symptoms of the flu and covid19. The flu season will be confusing for everyone. Sorting out the symptoms of covid19 and influenza can be problematic. This comes as the white house pushes bytedance to sell to an american company. Sunday was the deadline set by the white house quite some time ago and its coming. Wechat is made by a separate company. To be cs still legal to use the you can download them as of now. As of november 12th they will probably not work in the united states. Now the Justice Department, thats the Commerce Department that made this ruling, the Justice Department seems to have been caught off guard by the inclusion of wechat because the doj just filed this in Northern California yesterday a document that says we can provide assurances that the secretary of commerce does not intend to take actions that would target persons or groups whose only connection with wechat is their use or downloading of the app to convey personal or Business Information between users. So there seems to be some confusion this morning in washington as to what is going on and we have a lot of phone calls in to try to clear it up. Other news, it has been a historic week for ipos. Weve seen a couple storm systems coming in and are tracking this rain moving in from the north and some rain pushing up from the south. These are the remnants of a tropical system moving over the pacific. For us its bringing in a beautiful sunrise. We had a nice sunset yesterday. We are feeling that humidity a little bit. The rain staying away from us but it will be nice to see that happening over the sierra. And then as we look at the clouds moving in from the north this will help bring in cooler temperatures. So lets take it hour by hour as you make plans for the day. Look at your microclimate in your city. Low 70s. In the south bay we also have low 70s as you go up to concord. The north bay, novato, about 72 degrees at nice time. A nice day to have a friday lunch outside. Also dinner time will be comfortable because well see the highs only make it into the low 80s for a few spots. Most of us will stay in the 70s today. We have some 60s along the coast and in San Francisco. For tonight fog starts to roll back in and our temperatures cool back into the upper 50s and low 60s. A lot of changes ahead because we are seeing a strong westerly wind as the storm system passes. As that moves away High Pressure moving in and temperatures will get a big boost starting on sunday. With high fresh europe thatpres to sink we may see our air quality going back downhill for people who have breathing problems will start to notice that across our microclimates for tomorrow and then that continues into the weekend. On monterey road in san jose. You can see what kind of fire they were dealing with there. Flames shooting skyward. It took firefighters about an hour to knock it down and no one was injured. Developing for you right now some sad news within the last hour in Southern California where a firefighter has died battling the el dorado fire. This is the same fire that started from a gender reveal party stunt. The u. S. Forest service says the unidentified firefighter died yesterday in San Bernardino natural forest. And merced firefighters are sharing an intense new look at the first hours of the creek foyer. Thats the fire that left so many hikers trapped. That fire now 20 contained. Amazon is on a roll and that means hundreds of new jobs for Contra Costa County. Online sales thriving in this economy and that means the online retailer is getting even bigger. The city of oakley announcing on facebook that amazon will be its first tenant here. This has been in the making for a while, this development, after dow chemical pulled out 20 years ago. Amazon already employs thousands across the bay area. Now it will add 4,000 new jobs as part of the massive 100,000 new employee hiring nationwide. In Northern California hundreds of workers here in the coming months in oakley, another 1,800 and others scattered across Northern California. Many of the job postings include a 500 signing bonus. Some of those here, looking at the new job postings this morning, some of them 1,000 signing bonuses down in half moon bay, for instance. Because of these couple of weather systems weve seen moving by even some rain on the Central Coast extending over to the sierra. The judge called the changes a politically motivated attack on the efficiency of the postale vo vote by mail this fall and some states fear delays may result in voters not receiving ballots or registration forms in time. The judge is issuing a nationwide preliminary injunction brought by 14 states suing the Trump Administration and the u. S. Postal service. Pennsylvania, meantime, will get a little more time to collect those mailin ballots. And, scott mcgrew, a major legal decision there as well. Yeah, another one. The state Supreme Court in pennsylvania has ruled while voters there do have to get their ballots postmarked by election day, which is the usual rule, the counties will have an additional three days to count them after that. Weve had to wait some period of time, and there isnt some law that says we have to know on Election Night who won the election. Attorney general bill barr meanwhile under fire for comparing the pandemic lockdown to slavery in a speech he made in virginia for Constitution Day yesterday. And some mid70s for napa today for a high testimony, this will be the coolest day of the week as we look at a storm system approaching from the north that will bring in showers across far Northern California. We are just going to see an increase in cloud cover for the next couple of days but well also see as that system moves out the smoke may possibly return once again. On the coronavirus front while california is seeing a decline in cases and hospitalizations the number of deaths are on the rise. More lives were lost this week than last and in the bay area Alameda County has recorded nearly half of all deaths so far this month.
