We might see some of that smoke creep back in. Right now whats changing this up for us is this system ive been tracking offshore. The potential development of it for days. Its finally starting to arrive. In fact, not one but two different surface cold fronts. These are slowmoving, and its just enough to help to stir up that atmosphere and push that smoke off towards the east. You can see on this satellite view here, a lot of the smoke plumes today from the fire near fresno is moving off to the north, and also the two larger fires to the north of us, those smoke plumes moving off towards the north. You know what . The air quality way better today across the bay area. Lets bring in jeff ranieri. Out in your neck of the woods, a lot of people were gting outsid. It really was so nice to just be able to go out there and not feel like youre going to get sick after 30 to 40 minutes outside. So a little bit of a stress reliever here with Everything Else thats been going on across the world lately. And its all been due to this storm system. Weve been telling you about it for over a week now, and this thing was exactly on time and working right in the same fashion that we hoped it would, helping to clear out this smoke. Its all about this upper level of area of low pressure, and its pretty nd meander as we head through tomorrow, thursday, and friday. Thats why it will help to continue to keep some of the most harmful smoke and push it off towards the north and the east. So over the next 12 hours, which brings us into the morning, we likely will hold on to some good air for the north bay, the bay, and also the coast with some moderate levels at times for the east bay and the south bay. Now, tomorrow as temperatures heat up, we could go back into the moderate category for a lot of the bay area. Might even see a few unhealthy readings in the far interior valleys of the east and the south bay. But overall we are looking a lot better here on this air quality forecast wednesday and thursday than we have for weeks. So that is the good news. I other thing i want to bring your attention to is as you walk out the door tomorrow morning, when you look up, its not going to be smoke, but this is all fog. From the north bay to the south bay, we have a pretty strong push of that low cloud cover. Even some drizzle possible right there near the coastline. Then as we roll through the afternoon, well get our sunshine back, and we should see a little bit of that blue sky again. Temperatures starting off here with some low 60s. Youre out and about in the best chance of some of that fog and drizzle would be in the east bay, San Francisco and the north bay. Now, with less smoke for the afternoon, temperatures will be able to heat up. We have it up to 87 in clearlake, right back to the east bay, 87 in livermore. 88 in concord. Closer to the bay, 77 in oakland. Over to San Francisco, and our coastal cities will be in the 60s for tomorrow. Now, the best thing about that storm system i talked about, it means rain for the west coast. A half inch in portland, 0. 15 in eureka. Were looking at 0. 05 of an inch in San Francisco from an on and off drizzle. You can see in San Francisco, we have 60s over the for my inland forecast, we will see temperatures drop as this system moves across Northern California friday. Down to 77 degrees and then take your eyes to sunday. A wind out of the northeast, 10 to 20, could bring back some smoke. Now, if we get some higher fire containment numbers, well be okay. If we dont get those higher fair containment numbers, again, sunday is the day where some of that smoke could move back in. Well keep an eye on it, raj. Good information. Thank you, jeff. Happening now, the rocky relationship between the 49ers and the city of santa clara was smoothed over just a bit. The niners paid the city more than 5 million for overdue stadium rent for levis stadium. The niners actually wanted a deep discount because they didnt play any preseason games there. The city countered by saying the nfl decided to cancel the preseason, not the city of santa clara. So the niners owed the full amount. Were back in a moment. Cups, plates, burgers, chips.
