New developments in Nancy Pelosis controversial hair salon visit and the House Speaker is now claiming was a set up. This morning were hearing from the stylist and owner of the salon. Today pete suratos is live with an update on, i guess you could call it hair gate. Good morning to you, laura. That controversial media making its way across social media and we know that the stylist here at the salon did put out a statement who is agreeing with the House Speaker that he claims this was a set up but, of course, the owner is agreeing with this claim and she said as much in an interview with fox news. Show our viewers this video if you havent seen it yet at east salon in San Francisco. Now the backlash, of course, is because indoor appointments are not allowed due to the coronavirus and also her mask appears to be under her neck. Now the stylist did say in a statement through an attorney, as i mentioned, he claims this was a set up and claiming that the owner erica kious has been illegally styling clients from us and is also unhappy with Speaker Pelosi over the restrictions when it comes to businesses and covid. Here is kious talking during a response with Tucker Carlson on fox news as well as Speaker Pelosi weighing in at an event she was attending yesterday. She called a stylist or her assistant did to make an appo t appointme appointment. The appointment was already booked. There is no way i could have set that up. When they said we are able to accommodate people one person at a time and we can set up that time, i trusted that. As it turns out, it was a set up. So, i take responsibility for falling for a set up. Now, folks who are in support and against this business owner, but kious claims she thinks her business is done as a result of some of the backlash that shes seeing. Not looking forward to the heat this weekend. No, were not. And right now weve been talking about how we finally had some improvements in our air quality. Lets take a look at what were seeing right now if youre going out for a morning walk. So far for many microclimates looking very good and still expecting drifts of smoke coming in today. Heres what were expecting going into the next few days with unhealthy air quality continuing into the weekend and were also going to have some much hotter temperature starting on saturday and continuing into sunday and after that we may have some gusty northernly winds on monday into tuesday as well as the increased potential of a fire danger and watching for the possibility of those psps power shutoffs. So well have to monitor for that. Well talk more about that coming up. Mike, how is it looking right now for the morning commute. Well, kari, it looks like things are calming down and lets take a look at our maps. We know we have the backup at the bay bridge because the metering lights are on even preholiday that will be the case at this time. Mild slowing there but things have really calmed down. President trump is encour e encouraging some of his supporters to vote twice. Do not vote twice. You can go to jail for that. Right now at 6 43. Lets head to Pleasant Hill and as we look at temperature trend for our morning, it will be nice and cool. We also right now have some improved air quality and slow warm up today as we still enjoy some nice weather. Well talk about a weekend heat a our air quality. Th were looking over towards live views here at san mateo bridge. We have a smooth moving light despite the flashing lights over on the right. And folks are getting across. The bay bridge also moving westbound with their commute. We have the metering lights and despite those traffic moving smoothly and a little bit lighter traffic. Well track the trend coming up. All right, President Trump is encouraging his supporters to vote, twice. Once by mail and once in person. Scott mcgrew he is calling it a test to see if Election Officials will do an honest count. Right. Lets just be really clear off the top, kris and laura. Dont do that. It is a felony to commit voter fraud. May even be a crime to encourage someone to commit voter fraud. Do not vote twice no matter what. But the president did encourage that as he spoke to his supporters in North Carolina. Now, the president is convinced mailin voting, which has been around in one form or another for centuries is fraud and he wants to approve that. Apparently through fraud. Now, you confess we are going to circle back to what the president said again and again and again over these next couple of days. But today i would like to actually talk about the National Guard for a few minutes. Take a listen to this political ad running in wisconsin. President trump is making a stop. Sending National Guard and federal Law Enforcement to protect wisconsins families. You heard the campaign there claim that the president had sent in the National Guard. That is not accurate. The president of the United States does not command the National Guard. Its not really the national. State governors do and it was the wisconsin state governor who called up the guard. He then asked other states to send in some of their state forces and they did, but the command stayed with the governors who sent them. So alabama and michigan, et cetera. Yet, the president over and over claims it was he who brought the guard in. We called up the National Guard. We sent it out and they did a fantastic job last night. We were finally able to get the go ahead from the local authorities to send in the National Guard. We sent in the National Guard. It all stopped immediately upon the National Guards arrival. And once we said lets go, that was the end of it. Unfortunately, then a few days when people wouldnt call us. They didnt want to have us come in. The governor didnt want us there. He didnt want the National Guard, as you know. Very reluctant. When he says we, the we in washington had nothing to do with the National Guard. The president , again, did not command the National Guard. Yes, there are situationsnwhich but he did not do that in washington. The National Guard is not a federal force. So, when the president says we sent them in, hes not telling you the truth. We expect he will say that in the future. We will be watching for it. President travels to pennsylvania today. Well be watching that, as well. Lets see what he tells pennsylvania voters to do. Well be covering that on twitter. You can follow me scottmcgrew. Thank you very much, scott. Growing signs of fraud and abuse are prompting an investigation into the States EmploymentDevelopment Department along with an emergency audit. Kari, lets talk about how high these temperatures will get this weekend. It is going to be hot. Weve had weather like this already this summer and its returning again. I want to show you this capture that i have from the sunrise this morning. Such a gorgeous shot. But we know that that sun is shining through some smoke as it comes over the fog. Absolutely gorgeous way to start off this thursday morning and hopefully we will see improvements in our air quality as we go into the morning and it looks as we go throughout today. Heres a look at our high temperatures and it is going to be actually a little cooler than normal as we reach into the mid 70s for palo alto and 78 degrees in san jose and in concord, as well as antioch we are up to 86 and napa reaching 79 and as we go into the weekend the extreme heat moves in and excessive heat warning for all of these areas shaded in red starts at 11 00 on saturday morning. And we still will have the smoke advisories going on, as well. Then once we are getting past that extreme heat, we are looking at some high winds picking up. Now, this is between monday night and tuesday. And this is when we may have the psps the Public Safety power shutoffs from pg e possible because we will have the high winds, as well as the hot temperatures. And now we are home schooling and working from home and this may be a big problem. As we look at these temperatures, another big problem. Those highs reaching up to 103 degrees this sunday and continuing into labor day. Its still going to be pretty hot early next week for the inland areas and for San Francisco we have 60s today. 70s tomorrow. And then some upper 70s by the end of the weekend. Well talk more about this. Of course, more updates to come. Mike, what is the update on the commute . Kari, looking pretty smooth.
