Bob, i know a group of experts are recommending certain people receive the vaccine first. Reporter correct, marcus, namely people on the front lines of the fight against covid19 and those individuals who are at a higher risk or the highest risk of contracting this virus. The National Academies within the past 24 hours released these recommendations that the United States be broken up into four groups of people to prioritize who receives the vaccine first. Doctors, nurses, other First Responders and high risk individuals along with Senior Citizens and nursing homes. Group two, essential workers like teachers law enforcement, people in jail or homeless shelters, moderate risk, and older people. At this point it would be about half the country would be inoculated. Group three, young adults and children and other workers at risk of exposure and that gets to around 85 to 95 of the population. Most of us would not be able to get the vaccine until next year. Now there has been a breakthrough in the development of the vaccine. Some 30,000 people in iceland shows the antibodies people produced to fight the virus lasts for four months, thats longer than what previous studies showed. The antibodies may last longer than we thought they would. You wouldnt have to keep on getting the vaccine or a booster a bunch of different times.
