Weve looked around. This is the evidence of the strength of laura as it made its way through city. Unfortunately, this kind of devastation, playing out for miles across this region right now, overwhelming for those who call lake charles home. We have sustained a tremendous amount of damage. We have thousands and thousands of our fellow citizens whose lives are upside down. To get things back to right side up, get it back to some sense of normalcy, it will take a lot of time. A lot of effort. This will be a difficult cleanup and recovery. And it will take a resolve of the people here. Theyve been through storms before. They understand what hurricanes can do. Theyve never been through one of the magnitude of laura. Thats the latest from lake charles. Jay gray. Back to you. And kari is here now a look at whats left of laura. Where is it now . It is continuing to move to the north and east. Right now it is moving through my home state of kentucky. You can still see the rain bands that are still extending over parts of the hard hit areas over lake charles and toward lafayette as well as new some tornado watchesimpacts, and some of the last rain bands moving through the areas as they try to clean up today. Were still looking at the impacts of this as it makes its way across parts of the midwest, and off toward the layne. Here are three main fire zones in our weather that has been nice and cool for the most part the last couple of days. It is starting to warm up out there right now and weve had higher humidity during the Morning Hours which helps those crews to get some more containment. It keeps the fires spr spreading so rapidly as we look at where were heading to the santa cruz mountains. Looking at our air quality, were still dealing with some heavy smoke at times and we can see the haziness over the san jose area, heading over to campbell, our temperature trend will reach into the 80s for the afternoon. Which is about normal. A little warmer than it was yesterday. Were going to also have unhealthy air quality at times. And looking at the forecast for the weekend, i know were trying to make mans and trying to get a little fresh air. Were going to have the spare the air alert for sunday. That means for the north bay valleys and santa clara valley, well have unhealthy air quality at times but it may be improving along the coastline. We do see more fires burning are creating some unhealthy air quality even beaches. Were looking at temperatures that will reach into the upper 80s. A few spots into the 90s. And as we go into this evening, if youre thinking of heading out for a walk around 7 00, were going to start to feel that breeze picking up once again. Hopefully that will mix out the air a little bit. Were getting into a pattern where were getting more of a cap on the bay area that will keep the smoke in here a little longer. So this High Pressure makes the air sink. As it sinks, it warms up and it is pushing down that smoke and can create more conditions where the fires can spread more rapidly. So hopefully we dont see that happening as theyve been making some Good Progress with the containment. Our sevenday forecast shows that it is going to be hot in some of our warmest spots, reaching into the 90s. Look at how our temperatures peak on tuesday. We are looking at some cooler fog in San Francisco. Now we have some smoke spilling down the coast from mendocino. Well see it thang bay area beaches going into the next couple days.
