Through the day. We have seen more favorable yesterday and we flew the weather during the Early Morning hours as we look at the three aircraft the maximum we could main fire zones right now. Fly as far as the hours we could put on in a day per regulations. The scu lightning complex is moving through the diablo range, we did that and i anticipate parts of the south bay as well. Today we will meet the same temperatures are in the upper criteria and maybe even exceed the water drop. 50s right now heading into the upper 80s in those areas and then we go to the lnu lightning theyre ready to meet the complex fires that are now in challenge to help our ground resources. The mid60s. Humidity also a little bit higher. Bonny doon, a lot of good, hard work being done. Lines put in. A slow, tedious process. Well talk more about this were working hard on that and coming up. Starting to work doing some how is it looking for drivers things to work deeper into the heading out the door . Incident, work our way into it we have had a build Holding Steady in the middle lanes there. And continue on our challenge to extinguish this fire. The maps will show you no problems. Better news for folks traveling through oakland, east 580 speaking next chief deputy getting away from the bay bridge. Chris clark. We do have the lanes now cleared as far as chp is concerned. Good morning. Cleared right and no problem some positive news on the fire getting away from the bay bridge and from our standpoint positive either. News from us. A little build for highway 101. The report i got back this back over to you. Morning not a lot of people were running around and it was a quiet night which is a good thing. A press conference right now people heeding that warning, talking about the update dealing heeding that order to stay out with the San Mateo County area. Of the evacuated orders and let people work. Lets listen in. Last night, as i mentioned, the good news is we continue yesterdays press conference we to make progress on containment had last night a total of 79 personnel working the area. And up to 17 containment this morning. The entire san lorenzo valley. We still have 25,000 structures 46 mutual aid. Threatened by the incident, and today well have about that same we can confirm 330 structures number with 23 Sheriffs Office have been destroyed by the fire. Personnel. 18 from in county and, again, of that 11 of them are in san like ive said before, i cant mateo county, 319 in santa cruz say thank you we cant say thank you enough to our in county. County and the other counties, scotts valley, for helping us. With that ill pass it over to from those agencies 18 and 35 imt 3 operation section chief for agencies from over the hill. For an operations update. I think i neglected to mention this yesterday but in terms of missing persons cases we did good morning. The past couple of days weve have three new cases come in seen significant progress in our firefight on this incident. Yesterday that our detectives are working through so that brings our total to seven. Seven total missing persons the weather has cooperated and cases that were going to be were getting a trickle of going through to make sure we resources in. Know where those folks are. As soon as we get them were in terms of calls for service, putting them to work, putting them into a plan to achieve our like i said, a relatively quiet night. 11 total. Strategy and tactics. Five welfare checks. The incident starting at the top our guys went out on as well as of the north zone, the fire they went out to six reports of where it exists is creeping down suspicious people. A new development for us and to our control lines we have established. Really, again, to tell you kind of a little bit of the changing or are in the process of establishing. Condition in terms of just the dangers that are out there, some again, a bunch of resources, we have it surrounded and able to extinguish. Areas are impassablimpassable. Our folks dont feel comfortable this is part of our alternative because of falling branches and strategy and is working in our fire activity in the area. Favor, doing what we want. So overall a relatively quiet night. People may see some flames or hopefully it stays that way. Fire or smoke more so than were going to be out here. Anything just know that its we have a heavy police presence. Part of our overall strategy and and all of that to keep your property safe. Poses no threat with our wind thank you. Patterns. Its doing exactly what we want to do and is, again, an next up from the San Mateo CountySheriffs Office is alternative were utilizing. Sergeant juneau. A lot of resources in there. Very critical piece of line because even with our new wind good morning. Pattern coming from the south a as the fire chief stated San Mateo County, the fire situation little bit of a push its a no remains stable with no factor because with that wind, significant change. The safety and security checks of the evacuated areas also would have been a direct threat to Santa Clara County and the reported no suspicious activity. Line there. Thats all we have. Were very confident thats holding and were going to be looking good there. Around the top continued this incident has a multitude of different agencies including constructi construction, again, just a multiple fire districts, cal creeping fire. Very steep,ug method and fire, as well as Law Enforcement agencies. Speaking for that unified Team IncidentManagement Team three. Monitoring that, have resources monitoring that and thats looking really good. Were actively engaged in putting a good control line in good morning. Obviously positive news over the protecting and putting that in a last couple of days on the fire. Good spot. We have been able to gain additional control. The fire selfmitigated due to over 300 structures damaged or destroyed. This weather. On the south lines we put in that number will increase. A large incident like this. Fal. Lines are holding well. Santa cruz and the uc campus very well protected. No threat at this point in time. With our expected weather were today were going to be focusing not very concerned with any not only on control with the further push there. Firefighting force on the ground but were developing a road crew a matter of getting that mopped and were going to up and putting that away. Ds soo systematically start opening roadways up and gaining access to increase ability for our teams throughout this incident. This is going to be a long, tedious process. The majority of the fire encompasses large old road timber. A lot of the wooden bridges have been damaged or burned. Theyre impassable. It will take diligent effort to identify access points, get them cleared and get those folks in there. Thank you. Santa cruz unit chief from the cal fire san mateo unit is unit chief. Good morning. As the chief stated we are making progress on this fire. The team is doing an outstanding job with the resources we have available to us. From the start we have had a limited number of resources on all the fires that occurred, the 22 we started with. A robust system but when its tasked the number of fires across the state it does limit our ability to get the resources here in a timely manner. The team is getting them out to the assignments they can get them to. Theyre doing an outstanding job of that. For the public the roadways are very, very dangerous. Those still in the fire area you need to be cautious and driving around if youre out and about. Also due to fire and due to drought. The firefighters are out there putting themselves in position in the same environment and were doing whatever we can to protect them and get the roadways open and get inspection teams in there to really evaluate what losses we have and determine what structures are still left. The resources we have and were in this for the long haul as i keep stating, a historic event. We have never seen fire like this in the history the recent history we have any records for. This fuel is receptive due to ground conditions. Any changes in the weather could change that environment. Please bear with us. Be safe out there. I know our crews are working as hard as they can to get control of this fire. Weve been listening to the very latest from cal fire. They have these daily morning briefings and really good news here to report. The weather has been cooperating. They have more resources to throw at this fire with so many different agencies now responding and and also the fire itself had been moving to the controlled lines they set up. Thats when you see them working out there digging and tracking the fire itself, moving to the control lines. Hopefully today with cooler temperatures prevailing theyll get more work done. Well continue to take a look at the wildfire coverage, take a short break from that as well. Were tracking storms taking aim at the gulf coast. Big ones. For something good to share with you Santa Cruz Community coming together to help out those fire victims. These shirts that will benefit Santa Cruz County and has raised more than 15,000. And a reminder to you weve posted the latest evacuation orders all on those fires right there on our website. Check it out right now as well as the perimeter of the fire lines at nbcbayarea. Com. Happening now laura, the storm, now churning in the gulf of mexico now a hurricane. Those are the reports just confirmed within the last hour from noaa. Minimal impact from Tropical Storm marco which made landfall along the gulf coast yesterday. In the meantime laura expected to make landfall late tomorrow night somewhere in texas or louisiana. Tropical storm warnings for the florida keys was lifted overnight. Laura left its mark on the area bringing strong winds and heavy rain. In the meantime people along the coast are filling sandbags and boarding up in preparation. The National Hurricane center has issued a hurricane watch and a storm surge watch in parts of both states, water could rise up to 11 feet during the surge. So i dont know what this says but marco was kind of calm. Laura was pretty fiery. High energy. Yes, high energy. Thats what were going to call it. Shes a hurricane. Thats why we love her. Maybe a category 3 at that. And there you go. There is the link. In our neck of the woods, were dealing with all this smoke out there. Yeah, we have had some really unhealthy air quality. Were seeing that even as were waking up and heading out the door in the trivalley. A live look outside in dublin and what were seeing is that fog rolls in, that marine layer is pushing that smoke down close to the surface. And then as we go through the day it just kind of drifts around. We are seeing some unhealthy air quality for our microclimates although it is looking better in San Francisco. Some of our highest numbers that we are seeing are in the parts of the east bay as well as the south bay with palo alto at 176, 179 and san mateo very close to that complex of fires over the santa cruz mountains. As we look at our high temperatures for today, were still going to have a warmup but youll notice for the bay some of our coastal areas will be cooler as we reach up to 85 in san jose. No change in our weather pattern which at this point will be good news. Well see the fog rolling in during the morning hours, higher humidity, cooler temperatures and that keeps those fires from spreading so rapidly. And were also going to see no major shifts in the wind direction. So once again this makes it better for those crews trying to get some containment. Were still looking at warm weather for the inland valleys. And, mike, whats the update for the commute this morning . Kari, the bay bridge toll plaza where we saw the metering lights turn on at 6 00 a. M. We have seen the traffic flow pretty much come to a halt or at least a very slow crawl for all but the hov lanes, not unusual except for tuesday and is looking at the rest of the approach. The big concern is not necessarily anything outside the toll plaza. On the maps you see in the north bay as well as over in the trivalley we have the lnu fire, we have the scu and the czu fire. Those are the areas to avoid. Thank you, mike. Grocery shopping made easy. Scott mcgrew and the changes we could see at whole foods. And good morning. A very happy tuesday to you. Stocks are set to move higher this morning as u. S. And chinese negotiators said they are chess to finalizing the first part of that chinese american trade deal. Now this good news comes even as President Trump continues to rail against the chinese, accusing them of stealing from america and causing the pandemic. China was an important participate of the president s nomination acceptance speech in charlotte. Take a listen. But we took in billions from china. We never took in 10 cents from china. Never took in 10 cents. They took china for 25 years not only obama for 25 years china was taking in anywhere between 200 billion, with a b, and 550 billion from the United States. Now theres some corrections to be made there. As always we do not collect tariffs from the chinese. Thats not the way the tariffs work. Americans pay the tariffs on chinese goods, and while it is absolutely true we have sent hundreds upon hundreds of billions of dollars to china, its not charity money. Its to buy stuff. We get stuff in return. Anytime you buy an iphone or lsothes or anything made in china sticker on it, thats whats happening with that hundreds of billions. Other news San Franciscobase salesforce will be added to the 30 Companies Listed to the dow 30 industrials. Quite an honor and comes after apple split its stock making tech less influential on the index. And, marcus and laura, amazon is getting ready to bring its amazon go technology to whole foods. Amazon go is the cashierless system, grab what you want from the store, you walk out, your credit card is charged. If you thought you were having trouble with buying enough stuff to get through your whole paycheck at whole foods, its much more efficient now. That really helps if youre on the go. Much easier to take your money. Thanks, scott. Thank you very much, scott. It is 6 26 right now. Up next were going to get back to our breaking news this morning. And back to our live Team Coverage. Reporter im bob redell in livermore. We just returned from the scu fire zone. The progress being made on the frontline. Reporter and im Cierra Johnson in healdsburg. [ barking ] this is a fire thats like one of those every 100year fires that you hear about, right, like the 100year flood. This is not your typical fire. Right now at 6 30 its a moment unlike any other for california. The states wildfires combined have burned an area the size of the grand canyon. And the bay area has the two largest fires ever recorded in the state. Live Team Coverage being made by firefighters. Today in the bay continues right now. And a very good Tuesday Morning to you. Thanks so much for joining us. Im laura garcia. And im marcus washington. Well get a look at that commute in a bit for mike. First we want to start out with kari hall with a look at the forecast and what we can expect. Those fires still burning, kari. Watching the weather condition around those fires with the scu lightning complex, the largest fire we have burning right now, higher humidity and cooler temperatures. That slows the spread of those fires but it will warm up today into the upper 80s and low 90s for the lnu lightning complex. For the czu lightning complex we are seeing higher humidity this morning, also some fog in the area. That slows the spread of those fires. Well continue to watch those conditions and our air quality. More on that coming up. Mike, whats happening for the commute . All right, at 6 30 we want to get you caught up on the breaking news with historic fires burning across the bay area. Here is some perspective for you. This year so far more than 7,000 separate fires have burned 1. 4 million acres here in california. At the same point last year 56,000 acres burn and more than 4,000 fires. The fire season typically intensifies during the fall. Now to the latest on all the fires burning across the bay area. We have live Team Coverage workers in the fire zone up in Sonoma County in wine country. Lets start out with bob redell live in livermore just coming from the scu fire zone. Bob . [ no audio ] okay, it sounds like we need to fix bobs audio. Were going to work on that for a little bit. He has new updates from that fire zone there. In the meantime, were also watching Sonoma County. For almost a week now many in the healdsburg area have been under this evacuation warning not to mention all the red flag warnings weve had as well. Finally this morning a little bit of relief. Today in the bays Cierra Johnson live where conditions are said to be starting to improve. Cierra . Reporter yes, be good morning. Theres been a lot of aid coming in to help knock down those fires. Those notices were issued but we didnt, thankfully, get the thunder and lightning. Im in healdsburg at hawley winery with mr. John hawley, the owner, and hes had a birds eye view, a great perspective of everything going on in this community. I guess starting off we talked a lot about what you saw last time but in this half hour how does this fire impact your business and the product . My son is the winemaker now. Im involved and there is some concern about smoke taint in the grapes because the grapes absorb whatever aroma where theyre growing. Fortunately for the most part the fire has been blowing southward so that most of the vineyards have been pretty free throw of smoke. I dont have tremendous fear but i havent been out here in a week and i dont have any idea what its like to the south. I understand its smoky in santa rosa and all around the bay. Breathing our smoke. Weve been fortunate we have a lot of winds out of the north. As you can see its a little bit smoky here. Its not bad. Reporter what is the vibe here in town . What are folks saying out here in the community . Well, i mean, it seems like its one thing after another. We have a pandemic and its been really rough on us because restaurants and tasting rooms are shut down and are gradually opening. And now, of course, we have the fires and people are not going to want to come to the wine country until things clear up. So its been difficult and we have to do our social distancing and we cant have people coming into a wine bar like we used to. Things have changed and they may continue to be that way. Were bracing for life isnt going to be the way it used to be. Reporter exactly. Thank you for getting up early with us. Folks are just bracing for whatever Mother Nature is rowi johnson for today in the bay. Thank you very much, cierra. Now back to bob redell this morning. He has new updates from the scu lightning complex there. Bob . Reporter good morning, laura. Here on greenville road in livermore, you can see the cal fire elevation behind me, air operations resume later this morning. We took a ride up to the scu fire complex zone and fortunately didnt see much. That means a lot of the fire activity has been suppressed. We started here in livermore and headed south into the fire complex. We drove about 20 miles on that road, saw lot of burn areas but hardly any flames. One tree was on fire and some stumps along the way. One firefighter told me theyve been able to keep the fire contained to one side of the road and seemed happy the activity was minimal. A good sign. That fire burned over 360,000 acres and right now is 15 contained. Yesterday was 10 . Today it is 15 . Officials are telling residents to have their bags packed and be ready to go. One woman has been living in her home almost 20 years and even though her property is surrounded by dry brush never thought she would be in this situation. Ive been in the bay area 20 years. This is the First Time Ever reporter Alameda County released these photos you see on your tv screen. They are battling in remote terrain. People in morgan hills were ordered to evacuate sunday afternoon. Free month residents hope thats an order they dont get. It is under an evacuation order. Bob redell, today in the bay. Bob, thank you. Facing another day of unhealthy air quality. An update from the smoky skies from space. Its so bad that air quality, well, you can barely see right here the richmond that is not the bay bridge that were looking at but, of course that is one of our bay area bridges were looking at right there. This was taken by a passenger leaving sfo. Spare the air alert is in effect until tomorrow. And check this out from kansas city, missouri, dealing with the smoke from California Wildfires that have drifted all the way there. Meteorologist kari hall has been monitoring all of this. Were seeing the smoke travel so far, you even said earlier we saw smoke from a previous fire travel all the way to new york. Yes, its not that unusual especially when its this thick. We are seeing it right over the bay area but, of course, as the weather patterns travel, it continues to take the smoke elsewhere. We will see that continuing to move off to the east. Look at how thick and unhealthy the air quality is, the change weve seen the marine layer has come in, that layer of fog at about 1,000 feet for San Francisco. And so thats helping to clear it out there and continues to push it into parts of the north bay as well as the east bay and especially bad in parts of the peninsula. You do want to limit your time outside even as well have a slight cooldown in some of our temperatures in the mid80s for san jose, up to 90 in livermore. Still mid90s for ukiah today. Were monitoring all of this going on as well as whats ahead as we lead into the weekend. Now back to you. Kari, well take it over here. No major problems, the metering lights are on, of course. The maps will show you slowing across west 80, the bay bridge. And west 37 over to sonoma raceway, the two areas were seeing the build. Even a bigger concern is to the north. Those orange signs, construction signs marking closures there. Czu on the lower left, guys. Back to you. Thank you, mike. Heed the warnings. Stay away. California ocean waters getting warmer. One more thing still ahead. Well take you to the beaches where the water temperatures are now hotter than double digits. Reporter our cal fire gave us their Early Morning briefing and there is good its day two for the Republican National convention. President trump praising cnn for its coverage. Out to the big board in new york city. The dow is lower. The s p 500 actually hitting a new record this morning. Youre watching today in the bay. Right now at 6 42 lets head to the south bay with a live look this morning with more of the clouds and smoke drifting by. Well have that unhealthy air quality. Well be in the low 80s. Well talk more about this and the rest of the forecast coming up in a few minutes. The Altamont Pass and the build for 84 if you take that. Join 580 at richmond, the toll plaza there is picking up the volume. Well cover the commute coming up. Help solve a crime Getting National attention. I want you to take a look at your television. These surveillance images show a man investigators believe stole a wallet from a truck of a firefighter fighting those flames inanta cruz county. That truck was parked in a fire station in bonny doon. Investigators say that he used the stolen credit card at the shell station on 41st avenue. Hes wearing a giants hat, black and white checkered mask. You can see there this is a good picture that weve got. If you know who this person is youre asked to give deputies a call. It is 6 44. The mostly virtual stage is set for day two of the Republican National convention. We will hear from Melania Trump and secretary of state mike pompeo. Right. And you would expect to hear from the first lady. Secretary of state. Traditionally that is not thought of as a politician. We wouldnt expect the secretary of state to speak. Mike pompeo says that he is campaigning as a private citizen, and considering he sets the rules at the state department he can do as he wishes. Hell speak from jerusalem further cementing the point with evangelicals about trumps actions in israel. Last nights kickoff of the Republican National convention had some very traditional moments. Nikki haley and senator tim scott brought uplifting messages about their american stories. This was part of the republicans promise to have a positive and uplifting convention. And then there was former San Francisco first Lady Kimberly guilfoyle. Dont let the democrats take you for granted. Dont let them step on you, destroy your families, your lives and your future. Now the white house is not entirely happy with the coverage of the convention. President trump complaining fox news would show video of the convention but let their anchors talk over that video. Showed cnn and msnbc showed more ofonntion than fox news did. President trump was also unhappy the networks did not carry the state by state roll call live. The gop ran the nomination in the morning instead of prime time, and it was live, something the republicans wanted to do but it lack the production value the democrats pretaped efforts had. Take a look. New mexico is proud to vote for that renewal, that revival, by casting its 22 votes for donald j. Trump, the next president of the United States of america. New mexico proudly casts four votes for Bernie Sanders and 42 votes for the next president of the United States of america, joe biden. The oregon delegation believes the best is yet to come and is, therefore, proud to cost all 28 of our votes for president donald j. Trump. Today oregon casts for Bernie Sanders. And 57 votes for joe biden. Senator scott, who delivered a speech last night, will be on the today show talking about his speech and support for the president and the day ahead for republicans. That comes up at 7 00 right after today in the bay. You can find me on twitter. I am scottmcgrew. Thanks so much, scott. Continuing our top story this morning firefighters making some headway on some of these massive fires burning in the bay area. I want to collected in with kris sanchez live where cal fire just wrapped up a news conference. The weather is cooperating a little bit and more resources to help them along, kris. Reporter yeah, laura. This break in the weather feels like a break in the tension as well. Firefighters say they were able to make progress overnight and they are holding some natural fire lines and billing those fire lines because they dont have the resources they want so theyre changing strategy and making sure the fire doesnt get any bigger than it already is. The latest numbers right now we are at 17 containment which is an improvement over yesterday. We now know that there are 330 structures destroyed. Most of those in Santa Cruz County. Just about 11 in San Mateo County. There are now seven missing people detectives are trying to track down, three more than yesterday and they are looking for folks trying to see if they are evacuated or perhaps they were not able to make it out. But, again, the weather is a critical victory that theyre fighting overnight. Seeing signi the weather has really cooperated and were getting a trickle of resources in. Were achieving our strategy of tactics for this incident. Reporter now, of course, even when the fire is out, the area is still very dangerous. There are a lot of trees damaged by fire. They are coming down. Some sheriffs deputies have indicated there are some areas they just dont feel comfortable driving their patrol cars through. Some bridges are failing as well because theyre the old wooden structures. Six rescues of people whoened the burn zone area. They were overcome with flames. They had to be evacuated and rescued, in fact. That did not happen overnight so a little quieter fire activity, a little quieter among those out and about. They have a picture now for Santa Cruz County. Those pictures of that looter accused of stealing the firefighters wallet. A lot of people are hot about that. You can go to our social media pages to see more on that. Progress overnight and this is very good news trying to maximize the break in the weather because they know the weather will be changing as soon as meteorologist kari hall has told us. Kris sanchez, today in the bay. Lets hope they make some headway. The fire has called for evacuations and interruptions for people but for animals they were affected as well. Napa county deputies posted a picture of this pig here. The owners, not sure if they were evacuated but deputies realized it needed a cooldown. Another shot that we want to show you. A favorite therapy dog works with marin county firefighters and can navigate as well. You see her there on the lower part of your screen. The camera is not getting it, providing different relief there for a lot of the firefighters working hard, a therapy dog there. There she is. Look how cute is. Providing a little relief there. Maybe time to snuggle up with her a little bit before going back in and fighting fires. Im sure you have to take the relief wherever you can get it. All right, so were going to talk about ocean and bay waters. They are certainly heating up. 20 degrees in some spots. Typically theyre around 60 degrees. Right now temperatures are covering in the upper 70s. No wet suit needed there. Kari, lets talk about why this is happening. They are swimming in a bay, more Shallow Water. Weve had some very hot temperatures. These record high temperatures across the region so it makes sense if the air temperature is hotter the Shallow Water will be warmer, too. For parts of the southwest and making it into parts of the bay area as well and so as we go into the next several days were still going to have warm temperatures for the valleys. At least were catching a break for the coastal areas as that fog that we see returns to the bay area. This is our view in San Francisco. Also providing a nice westerly push of air that will help clear it out for San Francisco. In terms of the smoke and the air quality temporarily. As we go into today once that marine layer clears out that fog will just settle in once again. As we head to noon some of our inland areas will be in the low 80s. Recently. Ng to be an and so going into today just a few low 90s for spots like concord and antioch buty in the today. That fog rolls right back in tonig tonight. Those crews, fire crews, need for more containment. Our valleys are still going to be warm. Temperatures peak lets take a look at metering lights at 6 00. We just had that build. The better news if you want to be subtle about it, Subtle Movement in the middle lanes and outer lanes are Holding Steady. I see flashing lights and that vehicle is moving. Looks like an oversized truck. Well track that. The slowdown at the bay bridge and west 37 slows coming off the island. All those closures in the north by for lnu. In the trivalley, the east bay, slowing and, again, south of 580 closures for local roadways. Back to you. All right. Thanks, mike. Happening now were learning new information on the Police Shooting of a black man in can he kenosha, wisconsin. This is the Chicago Sun Times of his father saying his son is stable but is now paralyzed. Doctors dont know if its permanent. Meanwhile last night in kenosha fiery protests went long past curfew into the Early Morning hours. Up next, a look at our top stories including more coverage on the massive wildfires affecting the bay area. Why so many evacuees are still on edge. Team coverage next. Youre watching today in the bay. Welcome back. It is 6 57 right now. Lets get the very latest on the largest fires burning in the bay area. Bob redell is live for us. Reporter we just drove into the scu fire complex. Its very underwhelming, scorched earth but hardly any fire activity. The scu fire burned around 360,000 acres. A 5 improvement over yesterday. Along greenville road, along the cal fire helibase, we expect air operations to resume some time very soon. Over to my colleague Cierra Johnson in the north bay. Reporter yes, good morning. Im live in healdsburg on a family winery. I had a chance to speak with the owner. He and many other folks in town and in this area feeling are little more optimistic about the firefight. Hes been able to see someon wog the crews go up and down his read to fight this fire. Also the cooler temperatures making things easier for both the crews and the spread of the fire. Back to you in the newsroom. Thank you very much. More people near point reyes are packing up and getting out for the woodward fire. Anyone on silver hills road, fox drive and noren way need to leave immediately. The fire has burned close to 2,700 acres. It is 5 contain. Kari has a look at our forecast for today. Still pretty smoky out there. Warm weather continues . Yeah, it does continue but this will be a slight cooldown compared to what weve recently in the low 90s for the inland valleys and will warm up to the mid90s in San Francisco, our coastal areas will be in the 60s over the next few days. Mike, how is the commute rolling . Well, kari, the news is those flashing lights were not a problem, just a larger vehicle in the toll plaza. The flow improving there. Another liv moves smoothly. You notice in both shots low clouds as well as that haze in the air. So theres some fog out there as well as that smoke. Be careful out there, folks. Its affecting us all. The map serves a dual purpose, i guess. Yes, now moving across the country as well. Thanks for joining us this morning. Well see you back here tomorrow. The today show is next. Good morning fiery start. The Republican NationalConvention Kicks off with passionate speeches from President Trumps inner circle they want to steal your liberty, your freedom. They want to control what you see and think and believe so that they can control how you ve defending him and taking aim at Joe Biden Joe biden is basically the loch ness monster of the swamp painting an urgent picture of whats at stake in this election well
