There are two other significant fires, one in contra costa county. So far it burned more than 1,100 acres and is 0 contained and evacuation orders are in effect. A brush fire in sonoma burned about 1,700 acres there. Ten homes are under mandatory evacuation orders. I want to show you this that was caught on camera in downtown sonoma. The storms cut the temperatures a bit cooler. Places still in the triple digits and if you notice haze in the area, you are not a lone. A lot of smoke in the sky and the air quality is poor right now. Yeah. Unfortunately it is the perfect storm for unhealthy air around the bay area. Now we are getting more and more smoke trapped in the region. Above 100 around livermore and fairfield. Upper 80s now. Those temperatures are starting to rise quickly. The pink thaw see there is the excessive heat warning. Two more days of the similar temperatures and you are really noticing it around the trivalley. Unhealthy air for smoke pollution. I think we are about to trend hotter. Napa county, 98 degrees now. That is a big jump from the rain that came earlier in the morning. Lightning started to move out. What about tomorrows temperatures. We will look at that in the forecast in ten minutes. Brace yourself for more Power Outages. Governor newsom said as the heat persists so does the pressure on the energy supply. The governor issued an emergency proclamation that Large Energy Users are shifting to the backup sources in peak hours and the governor says it is unacceptable the government failed to predict for the plan. We will get to the bottom of it. That is why it will be done swiftly and immediately and we will layout in detailed terms what we are going to do to make sure this simply does not happen again. The governor said we all have to do our own part during the hottest hour of the day to help to relieve stress on the power grid. More than 3 million californians could lose power in the coming days. The suspect took off in the car and led them on a chase. Reporter officers took the suspect into custody and cleared the scene. It was 15 to 20 minutes ago a tow truck took away the black sedan the man had been driving. It will be take ton to a police yard. According to chp a latino male in his 30s or 40s was seen with his black sedan on highway 101 in san jose around 12 30 p. M. And officers say he appeared to be in an emotional state, possibly a mental breakdown. After chp negotiators talked with him for two hours he suddenly sped off. He went on freeways and city streets and sometimes going against traffic on several on and off ramps. This went on for about an hour before the suspect drove him to this neighborhood near a market and after being surrounded he surrendered. Investigators say there were reports he was waving an air pistol around but they are trying to figure out how what started as a welfare check turned into such a wild chase. There were no reported injuries or collisions but it looks like he may have side swiped a white vehicle along the way. We have breaking news out of San Francisco in the last 30 minutes the police chief announced there is a reward being offered to solve the murder of a 6yearold boy. Now the San FranciscoPolice Department is offering 100,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and the conviction of the suspect or suspects. The boy was shot while watching fireworks. Californias Testing Backlog is officially cleared. And we now get all caught up and the backlog included more than 14,000 new cases of covid. What does it mean for the outbreak in california . Wind picking up out of the west at 23 miles per hour. Inland that is smoke in the skies. Wind at 13. Over to dublin. It is still 100. Sometimes you get enough smoke in the air that it will keep your temperatures down. San jose, you can really see the smoke from this view looking off to the east of downtown. 85. On the topic of the smoke a lot of it is suspended higher up in the atmosphere but still the localized smoke advisories. Worst will be around the east bay, trivalley and around the diablo range. We are seeing the highest numbers for smoke pollution there. Now lets talk about the wind. Here is a time lapse around the hennessey fire. Watch the direction of the smoke clone moving south and then fanning back out to the north and it pushes the fire flat to the ground and the wind shifts again. We have seen three different wind shifts on the fire. Now that the skies are clearing, 98 degrees, 27 humidity. That is as extreme as firefighteri i firefighting can get. They are affecting parts of interior northern california. I dont think we will see any more lightning in the forecast. Maybe some sprinkles but temperatures in the 60s and 70s and upper 90s to above 100 degrees. Hottest locations are the trivalley. San francisco, climbing close to 80 in downtown and north bay above 100 degrees. Excessive heat warning continues. This will be tomorrow through wednesday. A look at wednesdays temperature, still upper 90s inland. San francisco will be dropping into the lower 70s. Valleys, you notice we put it in quotes. Lower to middle 90s. At least it will hopefully pull us down out of the 100s for a couple of days which may give the states power grid a bit of a break.
