Tonight the executive director of the Bay Area Council on islamic relations says she is disgusted by the posts but not surprised. We are calling for these officers to be terminated. On top of that, we want to be clear to warn any Police Departments across Northern California to not at all consider rehiring these Police Officers. Any officers directly involved in this kind of racist or islamaphobic behavior should be fired. Now, obviously were going to learn a lot more through this investigation, how many others have been involved, how long this has happened. And there may well be, and i expect other officers. If thats the case, then certainly they should be fired as well. New information in the mass shooting north of sacramento. We learned that one person has died. Four were injured after a man drove into a Walmart Distribution Center and started shooting police. Weve also Learned Police shot and killed the gunman. He was 31 years old. This all started at about 3 00 this afternoon at the Distribution Center near red bluff. The Tehama County Sheriffs Office said the man circled the parking lot at the walmart four times before crashing his car into the building. Thats when he opened fire with a semiautomatic rifle. The witness at the scene describes the terrifying scene. I was more worried about the people that were injured by the car entering the building. I went to help a lady that was kind of trapped at the beginning, and at that point i started hearing gunfire. Officials say they have not figured out if the shooting is related to one earlier in the day in nearby shingle town. That shooting left three people dead. New at 11 00, a protest calling for justice for Breonna Taylor ended in bloodshed tonight. Video posted on social media appears to show a man opening fire into the crowd of demonstrators in a park. This is louisville, kentucky. One person can be seen seriously hurt in this video. Authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting. Taylor was killed in her home by police who were serving a noknock warrant on her boyfriend. Were learning new details about Elijah Mcclains disturbing encounter with officers last summer in aurora, colorado. This video of protests that continued well into the night. A clear sign of renewed outrage following the death of another young black man stopped by police. Mcclain was heading home from a Neighborhood Convenience store. The manager says mcclain was a regular. It was always his juice and his snack. He would come and put it on the counter and then buy with cash mostly and then give a bow before leaving the store. After mcclain left, he was walking and dancing wearing a ski mask. Someone thought that was suspicious, called 911. Police responded, stopped him. There was a scuffle. Police pinned him down, and they used a choke hold. During the struggle, paramedics came out and injected him with a sedative. He died days later in the hospital. The autopsy could not pinpoint a cause of death. An internal investigation cleared the officers, who have been assigned to nonenforcement for their own safety. But the governor announced a new independent investigation now. Protesters are calling for charges against those officers. Back here in the bay area, a memorial for black lives matter on the stanford campus. Hand made signs placed at the stanford oval feature the faces of black People Killed by racial violence and police brutality. The memorial also highlights black trans women who are victims of street crimes. New at 11 00, several brush fires breaking out across the bay area. In fairfield, near gold hill road and 680. More problems along 680 in benicia. And in San Francisco, a large homeless encampment fire on bay shore boulevard. Some clouds of smoke drifting over highway 101 causing a dangerous situation. And in the midst of a pandemic, there is a new tradition that has been born. Just before the Pink Triangle lit up, several members of the sisters of perpetual indulgence carried a new symbol of pride through the castro, a pink torch. I think its important to be reuniting all around the world, and we need to be centering black womens voices, black trans womens voices, and the rest of us are here in solidarity. For the sake of safety, Community Leaders have been encouraging people not to come to the castro this weekend. On this particular weekend, what we really dont want to see is large numbers of folks coming to the castro looking for a party. Joe hawkins, the founder of the oakland Lgbtq Community center, was the first torch carrier of the day and had an especially heavy heart after the center was vandalized this morning. This is a very Queer Community around the lake, yet still we are under attack. So the work still must continue. Reporter nearby Street Vendors saw the vandal, a man riding a bicycle and using a golf club in the attack. Hawkins says he feels theyve been targeted. Hes asking anyone who knows the culprit to call oakland police. In a tweet, oakland mayor libby schaaf called the attack shameful and heartbreaking. Cases are spiking across the country. Tonight these three states, arizona, texas, and florida, are considered hot spots. You can see why. The number of new cases reported in each state, arizona more than 3,500. Texas, more than 5,700. Take a look at florida. Close to 10,000 new cases. That number does not or rather does follow an increase in testing, but the percentage of positive tests has been steadily growing over the past two weeks as well. Take a look at california. Number of confirmed cases now standing at more than 206,000. Thats up by almost 6,000 within the last 24 hours. The United States now surpassing 2. 5 million cases. Locally, cases are also on the rise. Sonoma county adding 86 new cases today for a total of 1,092. San mateo county reporting 34 new cases for almost 3,100. Overall were close to 22,500 cases in the bay area. Almost 600 people have died. A planned inmate transfer from san quentin to north kern prison is off tonight. That decision comes after the outbreak at san quentin continues to grow. As of this weekend, 613 prisoners have tested positive as well as 89 staff members. The prison had zero cases through march and april, zero. The outbreak was likely caused by an inmate transfer in may from a prison in chino. During a town hall zoom meeting today, inmates say there doesnt seem to be a plan to curve that outbreak. A lot of changes on a daily basis with this pandemic, and we have you covered.
