Businesses to open who are no more safe than potentially less safe than a tattoo shop. Its another setback for businesses already struggling to survive, and he sees the delay as just another precaution. I am not trying to bring anything back to my family. A lot of anxiety for Business Owners here. We mentioned contra costa county, Health Leaders may change the timeline. The final decision will be made next monday. Lets take a look at the relationship between the reopenings and surges. This is contra costa county. This line is the daily new cases per 1,000 people. Cases as you can see stayed relatively flat through april and most of may, and then the county moved into phase two. You can see when Outdoor Dining and Retail Businesses opened and you can see the number of cases rising. When they moved into phase 2a, like salons opening. Cases were relatively flat during phase one this entire time. Now look at phase two. Still pretty flat and thats why San Francisco said we are going to reopen more on monday and then this past week you could see that spike right there and thats why San Francisco mayor london breed is slowing things down. This comes as california sees a giant statewide surge. This shows the daily new cases in california just for the month of june. Check out as it rises as we get later into the month and check out this past week. Right here. This was tuesday. 7,149 cases in one day. Thats a daily record. Thats a big jump. The governor reinstated his daily briefings and today he noted 15 counties are on a socalled watch list. Here they are. Each one currently considered high risk and in need of closer monitoring. You see them across the state. Two of the counties, though, are right here in the bay area. Contra costa and santa clara, and the state advised a full shelter at home order. In the past five weeks hospitalizations in that county have increased so much the state began transferring hundreds of patients to keep hospitals from getting overwhelmed. The governor added if Imperial County doesnt follow the states advice he will step in. If they are not able to come to some consensus, i am committed to intervening as is my role and responsibility as governor in the state of california. Governor newsom praised San Francisco for deciding to pause its reopening. Whats happening in Santa Clara County . We have new guidance next week. I anticipate ordering a new order next week that will mark the end of a sector strategy and the beginning of a new phase where many activities will be allowed to resume with appropriate Risk Reduction measures in place, and many highrisk activities cannot resu resume here or elsewhere anytime soon. The new order is expected midweek of next week with changes taking affect a few days later, closer to fourth of july, so businesses do have time to prepare. We have heard it all week today, and its official. European union is banning u. S. Travelers because we have not controlled the outbreak. Other potential countries not allowed through russia and brazil, but countries like canada and australia made the safe list. The resurgence of covid cases could engulf the entire u. S. The infection rate in the u. S. Has hit a new record. Some reporters asked Vice President pence about President Trumps decision to continue to hold large rallies and he decided the president s actions. In 34 states the cases are largely stable. We have an election coming up this fall. The Vice President also declined to recommend all americans wear masks. He advised everybody to follow guidance from their local leaders. This is one of the biggest and most colorful weekends of the year in San Francisco, and this time around no parade or big parties. Pride weekend will have a different look. Most of the celebration will be virtual. We are used to that now, but will people actually stay home. Christie smith is at delores park for us and we kick off the friday pride transmarch. How is it looking there . Reporter to be clear, this is not the official transmarch, but there was a protest march that just moved through here. Some people showed up, some carrying signs, black lives matter, or black trans lives matter. The official pride 2020 online celebration kicks off with 13 hours of original content. Organizers admit it will be a different experience due to the pandemic, but they stress going online doesnt mean going away. And theres a focus on the equality crisis america is facing, and one of the events a conversation with one of the founders of the black lives matter movement. Looking at the correlation of Racial Injustice and the struggle for lbgt equality. Online flyers are circulating for everybody to come out for a pride is a riot on sunday and police are prepared for planned gatherings. We know the Movement Began in protest, and so while we have canceled our parade and celebration for this year, if people want to demonstrate visibly and particularly elevate their voices in the streets of San Francisco, we encourage everybody to do so as safely as possible with masks and physical distancing. I think everybody understands thats going to happen this weekend and folks can do that safely. Folks can and they have been. They have been wearing masks. Meanwhile the Pink Triangle will shine bright this year through illuminate the bay area nonprofit arts group. Hundreds of thousands of households can see this installation. Its even visible from the east bay. Again, what we saw earlier was not part of the official trans march, and those were moved online and for folks organizing demonstrations this weekend they are being urged to wear masks and social distancing. Thank you. In marine county, heres how muir woods is reopening. You need a reservation and they are harder to get because they are only allowing 50 in before the pandemic. It didnt take long for crowds to rush there. Reporter Santa Cruz Beach is beginning to look like it usually does in the summer, crowded with towels and people spread across the sand. Kids building sandcastles and families gathering for fun. It feels good to get out again. Its happiness, listening to the water, being out on the beach and just fresh air, it means everything for my kids. For the past two months beaches in santa cruz have officially been closed during the day. The restrictions were supposed to keep people from gathering in large groups and were expected to stay in place until after the fourth of july weekend. Law enforcement said so many people broke the rules that it was virtually immossabpossible enforce it. Kathleen is thrilled it has been lifted because many businesses on beach street have taken a big hit. That means there will be more people coming to enjoy the beach and actually bring us more business. Still you might think all beachgoers are completely carefree, but everybody we talked to still has covid on their minds. We do have some concerns. We all came prepared with our mast masks, so thats a top priority. The countys current shelterathome order is expiring on july 6th and wearing Face Covering in public will still be required. We are showing the Pink Triangle and we know it will be lit up with thousands of pink notes and we look forward to that. Joining forces, the Lgbtq Community joining with the black lives matter movement. How powerful is this message . Very powerful. Its overdue for many reasons in terms of recognizing the Structural Racism in our society and that we need to do things very differently to address it and to end it. But it also is a strong reminder that the Lgbtq Community and everyone that even though pride is more of a celebration, which is terrific, we should be celebrating our community, but we have to remember the pride came through riots and the black hat in the 60s when police would raid our bars and try to ruin peoples lives and the Community Fought back and thats how pride started, it was a protest against Police Brutality and societal oppression. We need to stand with our black siblings to demand justice for them. Incredible message. An important reminder. State senator, were out of time but thank you so much and theres a lot of celebrate pride and the anniversary of samesex marriages that started years ago in San Francisco, so we appreciate your time and cant wait to celebrate the rest of the month with you. As we head through saturday night and sunday, what i wanted you to see was the storm system we have been tracking that will drop down across northern california. Looks like it will set up more off towards the east so i am expecting wind this weekend but the way things are panning out it doesnt look extremely dangerous. Fire danger will be on the increase but winds on sunday, 10 to 35 miles per hour, so i think we will be able to handle that fine and less wind here on monday. For the inland valleys, 88 tomorrow.
