Were seeing an increase in marin county with 54 new cases reported. Alameda county reporting 101 ne costa county and Santa Clara County both on that watch list of places seeing a surge in infections and hospitalizations. Over the past few days, coco county has seen hospitalizations jump 17 . Santa clara county has seen a 23 increase in hospitalizations. Yesterday Governor Newsom unveiling the website called calcat, california assessment tool, to help find solutions to the recent spike in the coronavirus. The 4th of july weekend is typically the busiest time for the Santa Cruz County beaches. New at 11 00 for you, muir woods will be reopening monday. Hikers are not require today to wear masks, but face coverings are highly recommended. Parking requirements, its going to require you to actually call and make an advance reservation. There will be no park ranger tours or talks offered. The park will have oneway hikes and shuttles will not be in service. Texas is hitting the pause. This is on their reopening because of the surge in covid cases. The governor there in texas is closing down bars and putting strict limits on restaurant dining. Almost exactly 6,000 new coronavirus cases are now being reported. It comes as the icu capacity for houston get this in the houston area, the capacity of the icu hit 100 . Governor greg abbott under fire for reopening too early as covid cases spiked 145 in just 14 days. Conditions here in the bay area pretty bone dry out there. Yes, the cold front drops the temperatures but the winds will increase. We have one more hot day. As we look at the temperatures right now, were in the upper 50s at half moon bay. 67 in San Francisco. Its 76 in concord. And already 82 degrees in livermore. It is heating up for those inland areas. And once again the wind will be the main concern for the weekend. Look at these high temperatures. Were still going to have some hot valley temperatures while the coastal areas will also see those temperatures staying cool. Once again, the winds will pick up as we head through tomorrow. Unfortunately the conditions are primed for a wildfire. You can see the golden brown hills in the trivalley, in the hills above dublin. Firefighters tell us normally you dont see the dry conditions until late july. August, september, in some places october. Thats just how dry it is right now. I have a right to stop you reporter this morning, calls for criminal charges are mounting after three Police Officers in aurora, colorado, stopped Elijah Mcclain last august. They had gotten a call about a suspicious man wearing a mask and waving his arms. His family says mcclain often wore a ski mask to keep warm because of a blood condition. I am an introvertment please respect the boundaries that im seeking Reporter Police say mcclain stopped walking and fought back when confronted. One officer says he heard another yell hes going for your gun. The officers took him into custody by placing him in a choke hold. Paramedics later sedating him. I cant breathe correctly because reporter he died at a hospital days later. An internal investigation found the officers followed policy. The autopsy report says mcclains cause of death was undetermined. And the District Attorney declined to file charges. Im not trying to justify the officers actions. Im only saying that i cannot prove a crime beyond a reasonable doubt. All of our dry vegetation in the hills that have of course turned bright red, bright brown i should say, and golden color because it is so dry out there. Were going to see some more of those very dry conditions, as well as hot temperatures for today. Do you plan on going for a jog and one of those spots that are going to heat up like brentwood . Maybe you want to wait. Look at the temperatures for the rest of the afternoon. Even as we go into the evening, its going to be slow to cool off in some of our east bay valleys. Lets going through the microclimates and look through how the day will shape up. Were starting to see things clearing out along the coastline with our temperatures staying cool. The fashion is right off the coast the fog is right off the coast. The inner bay getting a little breeze, oakland will reach into the upper 60s and low 70s. For the inland areas, we are going to see it warming to the 90s for today. Its also going to be much cooler tomorrow. With the cooler air comes gusty winds. And i wanted too remind you that we are in a severe drought now. As we look at the monitor for the bay area, spots like the peninsula, over toward the east bay, extending to the north bay, we have severe drought conditions. That means our brush and vegetation is so dry, its actually dryer ahead of where we should be for this time of year. And those fire conditions will be ripe when you throw in a high wind and low humidity. Thats exactly what well see this weekend. As we go hour by hour with our wind speed forecast, we take it through tomorrow evening, 7 30. Looking at winds in the east bay, up to 30 to 37 Miles Per Hour around concord. Expect the winds to rush through the Altamont Pass and some of those mountain gaps like the delta, as well as parts of the north bay where we see the high winds rushingthrough. As we go into r temperatures wi lower. Still, that very low humidity and those high winds will cause the concern that anyone out there, especially lighting fireworks or flicking cigarettes out the window, could start a wildfire that could quickly get out of control. As we go into sunday morning, wind speeds at 25 to 30. Then as we go into the evening, up to 45 Miles Per Hour, gusts in the trivalley. Just a headsup about that. That any wildfires that develop could spread very quickly, and you want to make sure that you keep checking in, you keep checking in for the latest information on whats going on around you. Today, 90 degrees. Tomorrow, some mid 80s for the inland areas. Then by sunday, some of our warmest spots only hit 80 degrees. Well warm up again early next week.
