We have a lot of neighbors that have ptsd, and it really sets them off. Reporter the fireworks are frightening. I thought it was gunshots because it sounds like shotguns. Illegal fireworks have been a problem for years in san jose. Its not just a problem in the south bay, but one echoed from oakland to San Francisco. Posing a risk of fires. The Santa Clara CountyFire Department issued this statement saying fireworks are illegal, dangerous and could result in fires and injuries that are easily preventable. Santa clara county social host fireworks ordinance holds Property Owners responsible for illegalous of fire workers on their properties. Neighbors say they are working together to try to report violators, but it hasnt been enough to give them a peaceful night. In san jose, nbc shooting. It happened 1 00 this morn on north temple drive. Police were called out. Reports of a stabbing. When they got there, police say they found a 19yearold man holding a knife. Police say ordered him to drop a knife. Instead he charged at an officer. The 19yearold was taken to a hospital where he initially died. New at 11 00, a flash point during a 24 hour protest in santa rosa kept investigators busy this weekend trying to figure out exactly who was at fault. At 9 30 police were called near brooklyn avenue. Thats where a crowd had gathered for the 24 hour protest of peace and justice. A woman said she had just gotten off her shift as a nurse and was trying to drive home when she got stuck in the crowd. She said people in that crowd broke her windshield, punched her in the face before she drove away. Protesters have a different story. All she had to do was pullover. What she did was accelerate through a crowd of people. I think it doesnt matter if shes a nurse as far as what she did. We dont care who you are, just pull over. Investigators reviewed video, and they have decided not to cite the woman. A follow up now to the controversy involving a College Professor who wanted a student to angelo size the pronunciation of her name. In an email exchange, Matthew Hubbard took issue with a students name saying that in english it sounded like an insult. Hubbard issued an apology yesterday. Tonight hes on leave and the president of the board of trustees has weighed in saying the board does not take these allegations lightly and understands the need to challenge and eliminate racism and white supremacsupremacy, in the suppression of native cultures and languages and demands that people of color conform to norms of whiteness. The destruction of statues in golden gate work was called the hijacking of a movement. Established californias mission system. There were people and families that couldnt bring their children because of concerns of the protesters. According to estimates from the tulsa fire marshal, about 6,200 people were in the rally. For several days, one Million People requested tickets. Lots of people did reserve them but never intended to show up. I just want to explain the numbers of tickets that they thought or people they thought were going to come. So that they would over produce and have a lot of resources put into that rally specifically. He is young an online swarm of activists across the country who mobilized against the Trump Campaign. One of his biggest weaknesses is his ego. I think expecting millions of people to show up to your rally and then having an entire section like right behind you just be empty is a huge blow to his ego. A statement down playing those efforts and instead blaming Media Coverage warning people away from the rallies because of covid and protesters had a real impact on people bringing their families and children to the rally. The Trump Campaign is also disputing the estimates. According to the campaign 12,000 people walked through their metal detectors to get to that rally. New at 11 00, President Trump is expected to sign an executive order this week limiting foreign workers. The new order would suspend temporary work visas through the end of the year. Heat advisory all the way to the beginning of next weekend. This really is almost seven days of 90 degree temperatures across the east bay valleys, including Solano County and, yes, in addition to those hot temperatures, fire dangers starting to go up because above that cooler marine air, the hills will stay dry. Alameda county continues to be a hot spot, more than 4,800 cases there. Now today the world saw its largest single day increase in virus infections according to the world Health Organization. More than 183,000 cases reported just today. Thats worldwide. But as you just saw the bay area fast aproching 24,000 covid19 cases, there are so many factors that could be contributing to the increase. The numbers suggest that donors were about 14 times more likely to get a concealed weapons permit than those who did not contribute. This rifle is about 50 years old. That rifle is about five years old. Mark has been collecting guns for decades. I think everybody realizes. He lives in a remote area at the end of a two mile dirt road. He says owning a firearm gives him and his family piece of mind. If i want to call the Sheriffs Department, its at least 10 to 15 minutes before anybodys going to show up. But in Santa Clara County, those permits are hard to come by. So he began asking sheriffs deputies what it would take to get one. The District Attorneys Office served warrants at the Sheriffs Department in other locations, part of an effort to find out if concealed gun permits were dolled out in exchange for donations. This local man agreed to speak if we did not reveal his identity. He runs a security business and has a concealed carry permit going back to the 80s. After moving, he had to apply for a new permit, which was granted. When he went back to pick up a copy of his permit he said he happened to run into sheriff smith who he previously met at a volunteer event. She said, look, its very important that you never under any circumstances make a donation to my campaign. I dont want anyone to ever think that im giving concealed weapons violences because someone has made a donation. He said if there is any wrongdoing, he doesnt believe that sheriff smith was directly involved. We showed the Sheriffs Office our findings, but the sheriff repeatedly story.
