This news is not only welcomed but a long time coming. Thats really great, thats awesome. Its going to be great for a lot of us. Its our likelihood. Now, as soon as you go through the doors here at valleyfair, youll see the reminder that masks and social distancing are required for shoppers and for employees alike. There are hand sanitizing stations all around, and store hours will be limited to allow time for deep cleaning. The food court is open for togo orders only. You cant sit there or really anywhere at the mall. This would be the first monday morning, the first weekday commute for the brand new barryessa station and the milpitas station which is just north of this location. But few people use these brand new stations today because of the covid19 pandemic. We took the train earlier, the cars were nearly empty. But for the people who did use them, and this is the first time bart has come to san jose and into the south bay, they didnt have to drive ten miles north to catch the train in fremont which used to be the end of the line. What is this going to do for you commute . It makes it a lot easier. I was commuting to springs and then before that i was commuting to fremont. Five miles, piece of cake now. Reporter we did speak off camera with a woman who actually works in the warm springs bart ormally would be took bart, bute wasnt familiar with the schedule. Both of these opened this past saturday morning. Bart reports that they transported just under 1,000 riders between those two locations. Its typical to predict what ro ridership will be like today because it isnt a normal workday commute. Ridership has been down about 90 due to the pandemic. Now, this is a tenmile extension to san jose that cost 2. 3 billion and took 20 years to plan, raise the money for, and build. The next phase which is still years away will extend bart into downtown san jose and santa clara. Another sign that our commutes are returning to some semblance of normally, cal train is running and operating 70 trains during the week. Thats up from about 40. There will be up to three trains an hour during the peak commute, six cars to each train. Thats to maximize physical distancing on board. But you compare that to concord as well as san martin and santa rosa where its 77 degrees right now. Compare to that 24 hours ago, these temperatures are a touch warmer than yesterday in livermore, its much warmer, nine degrees warmer than this time. So were going to have a little bit of a warmup today. To 84 degrees in antioch today, we will see some low 80s in napa and in san jose. Were in the upper 70s for today. If youre going to be out there enjoying this nice weather, just keep in mind that we do still have a moderate amount of tree pollen. Its mostly juniper and olive trees that are really putting those allergens out in the air right now. And then as we go through the week, our temperatures warm up. If youre looking for some days to go swimming, get out in the pool, youll have it starting on wednesday and continuing through the end of the week as this High Pressure builds, the winds going around that High Pressure are clockwise. And so itll give us a northerly wind. Thats going to help give us a boost in our temperatures. But as those winds pick dry. That means that we will have to watch out for those concerns of wildfires. As we go toward the end of the week, not too much of a change to this pattern. So were going to see that warm weather sticking around for a while as we officially welcome in summer this weekend, we are going to see those temperatures heat up. So were going from 80 today with some breezy winds to the low 80s tomorrow and then the upper 80s. Now, those temperatures will peak on thursday as we reach into the low 90s.
