If you dont know sarah cooper, she has this viral i mean, theyre amazing, tiktok videos where she lipsyncs president youre painting some great trumps, like, briefings or pictures speeches and its just the words and, you know, i remember that sound different, even though theyre his words coming out of we were at that awkward kind of her mouth. Stage where we knew that there was something going on but we in fact, if you havent seen a a video, youre in luck, were still, like, not sure if it was like hugging or i because shes debuting her brandnew video, tonight, right think we were, you know, elbow now, on our show bumping and there was like that strange stage before everything just completely shut down. Were very lucky here is sarah cooper we have a situation where were looking very strongly at sinks and showers. So it is incredible to experience this and to go through this historically, not just with the covid19 and other elements of bathrooms, where you turn the faucet on and areas where theres tremendous amounts of water, where the water rushes out to sea because you could never handle it. But clearly seeing the protests and the and what is going on is you know, for an old guy and you dont get any water. Like me, i was born in 1958. You turn on the faucet, you dont get any water. They take a shower and water comes dripping out and to witness the passion of the young people across the just dripping out very quietly, world for social justice dripping out people are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times as opposed it leaves me speechless, which is probably a good idea because i think its a good time for to once. Old white guys like me to just shut up and listen so speechless is probably a good choice. They end up using more water so, epa is looking at that very strongly, at my suggestion you go into a new building or a new house or a new home and jimmy yeah they have standards on where you dont get water. Have you been reading up or watching anything or learning you cant wash your hands practically, theres so little any trying to water comes out of the faucet. Yeah, i mean i really have been trying to take this as a time to first admit that i dont have a full understanding of the Life Experience of people that are different than and the end result is you leave the faucet on and it takes you me much longer to wash your hands you end up using the same amount of water. And i will never have a full understanding of that and thats something that you need and ill tell you, jimmy, im one of these people, when i was a kid i thought i knew jimmy its friday, and everything and i thought i knew thats usually when i write out everything about acting, my weekly thankyou notes. Everything about music, [ clears throat everything about politics, thank you for the music, franny everything about people. And winnie you know, had a lot of compassion im having purple jimmy dont forget to press the music. And basically i thought i could always understand, you know, jimmy thank you, disneyland, for announcing you will reopen next month but i think i speak for all of what it was like to be other us when i say, im going to need sneezys covid test first people, you know, i had a lot of compassion. And basically i thought i just knew it all. I was a knowitall. [ sneezes jimmy yeah and the older i have gotten the more i realized how much there is still to learn, so [ laughter ] this has been a perfect example of a good time for me to stop and learn and listen and read and just try to gain some kind [ sneezes of deeper understanding about people who here is the thing. [ sneezes [ laughter ] ill never understand it [ sneezes because when i walk out of the [ laughter ] house im white, and to not have that experience and [ sneezes privilege is something that i want to just kind of educate myself on. Jimmy yes, ive been finding myself just trying to talk to as many people as i possibly can uncomfortable as it is, but its you know, it is almost, you know, you could tell the anger and the you know, it is in the air and people just have had enough. You see these protests and i think its eye opening because the people i have talked to have been fighting for civil rights for as long as i can you know, they know and theyve never seen anything like this, and they a lot of the comments that different people have been saying to me is not only is it beautiful and it is big and it is peaceful, but it is the different ages and the different races. Theyve never seen anything like this, and it is it means that something is happening. I think change is coming i hope it is me too. Jimmy are you are you with kyra right now . Are you getting to know each other after [ laughter ] oh, yeah. Well, you know, 30 years, you think you know everything there is to know about somebody, but but, yeah, i mean, listen, we have a very small bubble its really just me and her and the dog right now, and we are waking up with a lot of gratitude that we have a house and a roof over our heads and food to eat. And that we have each other, which is really i know theres a lot of people that i know, members of my family and a lot of other people that i know that are in isolation completely alone and thats got to be a really, really difficult thing. Jimmy lets talk about something youve done, youre making you are back to the horror thriller. Yeah, i love horror movies. I like to watch them and, you know, i am really more into horror movies that have real Strong Character Development you know, friday the 13th as successful as it was, i kind of think of it more as a slasher movie. Jimmy slasher, yeah, yeah, of course. Of course, i had the classic horror movie death because i had sex with a girl and smoked a joint and you just knew it was over more me jimmy it was un you couldnt do better this one is more like a thriller, but i love it. And its perfect kind of timing weirdly to this moment because youre stuck in a house. Yeah. Amanda seyfried and i are a couple and we are have only been married a few years. We have a little daughter. She is my second wife and i have a lot of paranoia about being married to a woman that is way too young for me. And generationally, she is spending a lot of time on her cellphone and i dont really do that much kind of texting. And shes also an actress, so shes having to go off to work and be in these kind of intimate situations with people and the paranoia is definitely catching up with me at the beginning of the movie and we decided to just go off and have this this kind of vacation before she starts work, and we get this house in wales, just the three of us, and its scary, you know but it is a lot about sort of, like, you know, paranoia and also a very dark past that im kind of like struggling with, and i like i like these movies for an acting for an actor theyre great, because you are asked to be in these lifeordeath situations which is a very actable thing, you know. You just have to be careful that you dont have only one or two scared faces you have to think about that when you are making a horror movie, because if like every scene you do is like this [ laughter ] you got to think of another way to do it jimmy yeah, thats why i couldnt do that yeah, i would be such a read immediately. Like, oh, im going to have cant be that frightened youre like, youre just ordering breakfast. Oh, i know, i just want to make sure i got the right choice. But just the title the title, you should have left thats already im freaked out. Oh, yeah someone says, you should have left that scares me right there no matter where im like, oh, my goodness. It was really very, very powerful in ways that i never really expected and a lot of people really picked up on it. And it was the idea that youre not staying home just for yourself, youre staying home to try to limit the spread of the virus and to try to keep other people safe. Pretty quickly after that i realized that there are a lot of people who werent able to stay home, and so one of the new our newer launches is a thing called i feed the front where you can donate and local restaurants will provide meals for frontline workers who are there working in hospitals and Health Care Centers exactly, and you can kind of support a small restaurant that is struggling as well as feed these heroes so it is jimmy heroes that are unbelievable every time i see whatever you are doing now i just applaud you. Yeah, i conquered that theres already a padlock on my fridge im like yes jimmy i wanted to talk about mississippi, and thats where youre from. Thats youve been doing something that i thought was very interesting for how long have you been bringing up this, the flag so, i grew up in mississippi. Its my home i still live there, and so, you know, i love it. Every great thing that has ever happened to me, like sitting down and talking to you right now, i can trace back to being raised in mississippi. But, my love for the place is betrayed by the presence of the Confederate Flag, which is the official state flag of the state of mississippi and because i make my living as an actor, i say, well, how can i sort of converge this mission with how i make a living . So, for some reason people put me on these red carpets, right so, im not really red carpet savvy, but i said, okay, i can use this platform to bring attention to this issue. Jimmy yeah so, i started wearing these dresses. So, that happened. Jimmy yup. And then and then, you know, we sort of not sort of, but these acts of terror started happening, started continuing to happen, but really in a public, in an egregious egregious way, and that was the massacre of the members of the mother emanuel in South Carolina with dylann roof, killing them after he had prayed with them. After that massacre, we saw pictures of him waving the Confederate Flag, right . After Heather Heyer died when Heather Heyer was killed in the street, there were Confederate Flags flying all around her so the Confederate Flag, for me, is an accomplice in those acts of terror jimmy it is time for change and i think this would send the right message to everyone if they did change that i mean, do it change it to whatever make it the river. You can make it b. B. Kings face you can do whatever you want to do with it i mean, its mississippi you got so many famous things that you could put there instead of that part of the flag it is a tiny square part of the flag, but you you have been youve been wearing outfits on the red carpets and making this known. But recently, you sent a a message to the governors wife why her . One of the things thats so unbearable about watching mr. Floyd die, be killed in front of our faces, was that he was calling for his mother as he died. In his last breath, he was calling for his mother what does that do to you as a woman . But what does that do to you as a mother when you when your children are calling for you in distress, whatever happens to them, but when they are calling for you in distress because they are dying, like, you know, what does that do to you and so i thought about i thought about mrs. Reeves. I thought about her, because when she goes to her house every night, she passes by that Confederate Flag in order to enter the Governors Mansion and so i wanted to appeal to her, appeal to her motherhood and say to her, you are a a woman of power, and you can say, it is time for mississippi to bring down that flag. you need to turn to your husband and say, honey lll jimmy hes right there right, hes right there in your bed turn to him and say, honey, you have the power to change the course of history, not just for the state of mississippi, but for this country. Call the governors office, make videos yourself you know, the bringing down the flag is just the start of a conversation, you know the confederate culture is not going to be dismantled because the flag was brought down. You know, we have to it is a conversation thats going to be about voters with voters voters right, workers rights but it is the beginning, it is the start of a conversation. So im asking everybody to work with me to exert pressure, to get this conversation started, and tell tate reeves he could be that governor, he could be that dude that could change mississippi and this country forever. He could be that dude, you know jimmy yes please spread spread the word yes jimmy make him hear you from every state in this country. Yes, yes. Thank you so, so much. Well, heres the thing. I was obsessed with the clark sisters, obsessed with them, and a little bit of a stalker. How would you find them . cause they you know, they live in detroit, and so somehow or another, like i would get these jobs, right, that shot in detroit so, when i would have an off day, im trying to find the clark sisters. Jimmy really and did you ever get a chance to say hi, or yell at them or i touched i touched the hand of lll of karen clark. Jimmy oh, my thats all you need. And she said to me, look at your hand, it shines. Lll like i was and i was i will never forget that moment in my life jimmy i didnt really know much about them to be honest, but i knew that latifah produced it. And mary j. Jimmy sarah cooper, thank you so much for being on our show, the tonight show. I know it is from zoom, but im a big fan and, man, you are making me laugh. Well, im a big fan of yours. I have been trying to get on this show for a long time to do standup, and now here i am a guest without even leaving my house. So this is incredible. Jimmy oh, my gosh. I got to say i first heard of you from these tiktok videos that you have been doing i think the first one i saw was the medical one with the it was unbelievable. Was that the first one you did that wasnt the first one i did. That was the first, kind of, longer one that i did, but i had been experimenting with being trump a little bit before that we hit the body with a tremendous whether it is ultraviolet or just very powerful light, and i think you said that hasnt been checked but youre going to test it. And then i said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. So it would be interesting to check that so that youre going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds it sounds interesting to me. Jimmy it is the funniest thing. How did you come up with the idea for it and like where did it start well, i was in quarantine and i was like, how do i stay relevant and figure out tiktok and see what the kids are doing on this tiktok thing and i got on there and i tried to do, you know, this i tried to do the dance. Jimmy yeah, yeah, you hit the yeah. I couldnt do it. I posted a dance i immediately deleted it because it was bad, it was so bad. So i was like, it is not going to be dancing so what is it going to be . So then i started doing lip synching and then trump is on television every day during these daily Coronavirus Task force meetings kind of bsing h way through the presidency as he usually does but it is just in your face every day, you know so im like looking at him and getting so frustrated because people are just nodding and pretending like what he is saying is making sense and pretending like hes smart and it is just it is so frustrating because it is like it reminded me of being in the corporate world like i would be in a meeting and like a business guy would come in and he would throw around some buzz word he just learned five minutes ago, and he would just talk and people would be like, oh, wow, hes so smart, yeah, what a key team player you know, all of this stuff. And i was like and youre like yeah, i know. Am i the crazy one and to be honest, ive always wanted to be one of those guys i just ive always wanted to be able to, like, talk my way through things and just like bs my way through life. So its like more like jealousy, actually i was like, can i do that . Can i just bs my way through life so i just grabbed some clips where he was just saying something just nonsensical and just pretended to be like one of those guys in a meeting just like, hey, look at me, im killing it even though what im saying makes no sense. Jimmy just walk me through, like how does it come about . You are watching this thing on tv and then you just write it down or you you rewind it or what do you do you memorize it . Usually it is like a clip that i find online, on twitter or somewhere and im just listening to it and im just, like, picturing it in my head, mouthing the words and figuring out, how can i bring this to life like with the medical when he said we can bring ultraviolet light into the body, through the skin or some other way, i was like, what, what other way would it be, would you be doing that so i immediately was just like, well, it must be up the butt [ laughter ] jimmy what other way do you get light into the body . What is the oh, gosh. I dont know. So im picturing that in my head, and then i just i just start shooting it and shooting it in pieces helps because then i can just do that one little piece over and over and over again until i get it just right, with like the just the words but also like the breaths and the ums and the ahs that he has and when hes reaching for words, and especially in that clip where hes, like, youre going to have to use medical doctors, right. You know, hes so proud of the fact that he knows that there are different kinds of doctors i mean i just it is insane so i love being able to just really highlight and point out the sub text of what is going on jimmy are you doing this by yourself is there anyone helping you . It is really just me and my very patient dog and my very patient husband, having to listen to Donald Trumps voice over and over again as i try to remember these things, which my husband has only jumped out the window once so far jimmy hes like, i think you got it that take, honey i think you got that one lets go lets move on.
