It sees a crash on the report for chp involving a motorcycle and a sand barrel, laura, but no injuries reporting and no lanes blocked and tracking that. Well show you the area coming up. Breaking news, the manhunt continues in the Central Valley in Paso Robles Police try to locate a man who shot a deputy in the face. Lets go to today in the bay bob redell and whether this case could be connected to two similar attacks near santa cruz. Bob . Correct, laura. Yes, our Investigative Unit has learned that federal agents are looking into whether the recent murders of Law Enforcement in oakland and the Santa Cruz County area are connected to this recent attack in paso robles that took place yesterday morning. As we speak to Paso Robles Police and Sheriffs Office and chp looking for mason james leery. A 26yearold homeless man from monterrey area. Law enforcement does appear to be closing in on him as they heard the suspect firing more shots from his gun. Law enforcement could also be heard shooting off. And chp shut down an offramp. Opened fire on the paso robles early yesterday morning when chp and deputies arrived to shot he allegedly shot a deputy in the face and then took off. Investigators also believe lera shot and killed a man whose body was found at a nearby amtrak station. We do not have an update of the station of the condition of that deputy. The feds are looking into whether he is connected to two shooting attacks. On saturday a santa cruz sheriff sergeant was killed and two other members of Law Enforcement were injured. Law enforcement arrested a man named Steven Carillo and they believe he is part of a terrorist cell who is also the gunman in the murder of a federal Security Officer in oakland just over two weeks ago. Authorities believe the white van is the one they recovered in the santa cruz attack and the driver of that van remains at large. Reporting live, bob redell, today in the bay. New calls to dismantle the Police Department. Dozens of people conferenced in to last nights Virtual Commission meeting and many are demanding sfpd be abolished and city funding be spent in social services. They came as they questioned the chief about Police Actions during the recent black lives matter protests. The Police Department has no right to be enforcing the acts of terrorism we need to put the money towards Homeless People and education. The Police Department is expected to submit its Budget Proposal to the Mayors Office by tomorrow. You see that deputy pushing a black lives matter protester to the ground. This happened on may 31st. Some stores and restaurants have been offering Curbside Pickup but starting today all sun Valley Stores are told they have the option to start inperson shopping. Sun valley told east bay times it is launching new initiatives and more disinfecting and removing or rearranging furniture to keep in common area space out. Although happening today, california will be opening up its remaining 169 dmv field offices. The dmv closed all of it offices on march 27th and reopening in waves. The dmv director says you should be able to do almost all of your dmv business online. A small warning this morning as counties continue to reopen and more testing is dead. Yes, it will be cooler today. Its going to be in some spots a little bit more comfortable, but well still heat up in our inland valleys. Heres part of the reason why. Can you see anything as we take a look outside in San Francisco . Thats the fog that returned yesterday and its getting thicker today. So, if youre heading out in the inland areas for a jog this morning, expect it to start out in martinez in the low 60s and then as we head towards 10 00 or 11 00, its still fairly comfortable. It will be the afternoon where those temperatures kind of spike for a couple hours and then head back down as they ocean breeze kicks in. So, were still reaching up to 90 degrees in antioch today. And some upper 80s in concord. Up to 86 degrees. That will be the high in napa today while San Francisco stays in the 60s. San jose is going to feel better, too, with a high of 84 degrees. As we look at our hourbyhour outlook, we are clear today. But then well start to see a chance of showers farther to the north. That starts tomorrow as some cooler air moves in. Now, the models have been hinting at that rain staying farther to the north and well keep a slight chance of rain in the forecast, just in case, because it will be nice to get some rain. Im just being hopeful here. Doesnt look like most of us will see any of those showers as the cool air arrives on friday it continues into saturday. And then as we look at the rest of the forecast, well, High Pressure builds once again and that means that heat will return. So we really only have two days of a return from the heat as were still going to be warm today. Tomorrow in the mid 70s and also in the mid 70s on saturday but then look at the jump in temperatures on sunday and next week were back in the 90s for those inland valleys. Mike, youve been watching the roads and youre looking at a spot around oakland. Yeah, exactly. Lets take a live look. We have our camera right by the coliseum and northbound 880 is where the crash was reported right near the high street off ramp. The live look out there doesnt seem to show the flashing light any more and the crew there look like they cleared the injuries. No, you see the flashing lights at high street at the off ramp. As we look at the map just past the coliseum, we marked it with a little circle at the bottom of the screen. No slowing at the scene. The high street off ramp might be affected. I know in San Francisco the mcarthur tunnel and veteran boulevard continues and its closed and mcarthur tunnel until 6 00 a. M. And it will happen overnight tomorrow night until 6 00 a. M. This is for both political parties. Registration was down 70 in april. This is compared to the same time last year. In california, its down more than 75 . One big reason popular registration locations including schools and dmvs were closed. L. A. T. s board approved a plan to replace each of its 600 fare gates with larger swingstyle gates like this. A move b. A. R. T. Originally said would cost around 150 million. The goal is to prevent scenes like these. Riders who skip out on paying cost b. A. R. T. An estimated 25 million each year. B. A. R. T. s general manager bob powers is scheduled to give an update later today to install the new gates, but he spoke with us first to explain if the proposal can even move forward. Since his agency is still trying to recover from a Health Crisis that caused a financial train wreck. Will b. A. R. T. Be able to find the millions to install these new fare gates . The short answer in my opinion, yes. I think well be able to pull together a funding plan that allows us to do that and, you know, systematically and phase it in and working with the counties and our funding partners. I think we can be successful there. Are you still thinking in the 150 million realm . Weve invested a little bit of money. Not much at all into engineering and weve been able to come up with a way to drastically reduce that with a different way to go about replacing them. And the different technology, if you will.
