We expect to get more answers about the investigation here at a newson afternoon. Im roz plater, nbc bay area news. Roz, thank you very much. A deadly shooting in the south bay. Police tell us they were called to allen rock avenue just before 5 00 a. M. Finding a man who was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. The chp might reveal more today about why they shot and killed an oakland man saturday night. Sources tell us officers shot eric delgado one block from his mothers house. He was allegedly driving one of the 72 cars stolen from a car dealer during last weeks looting. Witnesses say there was a spray of bullets. Delgados pregnant girlfriend was also hit but expected to survive. They kept yelling for him to turn off the car but he was dead. And then the poor girl kept screaming. What i want to know, why they had to take him out. Why did they have to use 46 shots . Why couldnt they pull him out and arrest him . Hes asking about the situation because he says that delgado was unarmed. The shooting prompted a protest yesterday. Lets turn to the weather. Looks like its going to be another decent day. Perhaps warm. It was a wonderful weekend. Lets kurn turn to kari hall. Were dealing with some high winds over the weekend. And that helped us spark and spread a few small wildfires around the bay area. But were tracking this red flag warning for solano county. That means were going humidity the right conditions for any wildfires today. So were just watching out for that and whats going on with this fire, as we get a look at where we are right now. Our temperatures are really nice and comfortable. I mean, were mainly in the 60s and 70s, and were going to be just a few degrees just above yesterday, as we compare our current temperatures to 24 hours ago, about five to seven degrees warmer than this time jeyesterd. Some mid 80s for the east bay. The north bay up to 84 degrees. But before you know it, well have really hot temperatures for a little while. Ill talk more about that and well talk about hoour high fir danger and Tropical Storm cristobal. This of vacaville. Firefighters have the flames 50 contained. Since saturday afternoon, roughly 2,000 acres and three structures have burned. At least another 100 structures remain threatened. Ev evacuation orders have been lifted. More former military brass are speaking up and speaking against president donald trump. Last week, trumps former defense secretarygeneral james mattis minced no words. General john kelly has done the same. Lets turn to scott mcgrew. Sounds like the president has a general problem, scott. Yeah, general problems, and also an admiral one, as well. Good morning to you. Chris, you know its very unusual for retired military officers to speak out against the commander in chief. But that is what is happening here after President Trump expressed his wish to have active military troops in american cities. On sunday, general colin powell spoke out and admiral james savius listed all the other generals opposed to the president s behavior. He lies all the time. He began lying the day of inauguration when we got into an argument about the size of the crowd that was there. People are writing books about his favorite thing of lying. And i dont think thats in our interest. I didnt vote for himn so i think the spectrum that kind of runs from very jim kelly, jim mattis, to me like people in the center, admiral bill mccraven, that whole spectrum jumped and felt that shock of watching active duty troops clear peaceful protesters. Wrong answer. The admiral used to command all allied troops in europe, pretty much the same position held by Dwight Eisenhower during the second world war. President trump has lashed out at all of those generals that are speaking. Hes called general powell pathetic. General mathis overrated. And chris, general kelly he says slinked away from his job. Scott, thank you very much. Coming up, bay area casino back open today, well explain what you can and cant do at cash creek. And a 180 at the nfl as the league apologizes for cracking down on players taking a knee. But not everyone is buying their sorry. Alameda county continues to talking about social bubbles. What that means for facetoface contact, next. Welcome back. Last week, prol players spoke out about racial sms the nfl is listening to them. An apology for how it handled players taking a knee. A different tone and perhaps some action. News correspondent Stephanie Gosk says the leagues about face on race is meeting suspicion. We are listening. I am listening. Reporter nfl commissioner Roger Goodell is changing the leagues message, release thing video statement late friday. We at the National Football league condemn racism and the systematic oppression of black people. We the National Football league admit we were wrong for not listening to nfl players earlier, and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest. Reporter the exact same language, star nfl players asked the league to use the day before. We will not be silent. We assert our right for peaceful protests. Reporter this comes after comments by one of the nfls biggest stars, exposed the leagues deep divisions. I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of america. Reporter drew brees apologized twice after he said players shouldnt protest Police Brutality and Racial Injustice during the national anthem. Im sorry. And i will do better. Reporter the new Orleans Saints quarterback also promising to listen more, and be part of the solution. President trump now weighing in, going after Roger Goodell overnight tweeting reporter and drew brees posting, he should not have taken back his original stance. Drew brees posting, to donald trump, through my ongoing conversations with friends, teammates and leaders in the black community, i realize this is not an issue about the american flag. The president echoing which is comments in 2016, when 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took a knee protesting Police Brutality. Kaepernick never played in the nfl again after that season. A knee is usually taken out of reverence. Reporter nate boyer is the person responsible forsuesting t to kaepernick. Kneeling w bground, you know. Two people that disagreed on a lot, but two people that were willing to just have a conversation and listen. That was Stephanie Gosk reporting. Alameda county is reopening more places today and allowing more facetoface or masktomask contact in smaller groups. Nbc bay areas jackie ward is live in oakland for us, where its back open. Is that right, jackie . Reporter thats right, chris. Health officials are saying that this part of the reopening is possible because of all the progress that the people in the county have made so far. So what is a social bubble that theyre talking about . Its a group of 12 people or less from different households that should be maintained for a minimum of three weeks. People should restrict themselves to being in one social bubble at a time. Social distancing and face coverings are still encouraged. Hanna watson of oakland thinks slowly adapting to a prepandemic lifestyle is necessary, but under the right precautions. Thats kind of how ive been doing it personally. So i get that. And then you have to just trust that back to your cononscience, are you doing just that and being mindful oh, i went and did this little thing with this guy last night and you show up with your group. Reporter heres what we take a live look outside from the san jose foothills, looking across the south bay. And so its been a nice but also very windy weekend. And those high winds still going to cause a problem for us today. Danger. And this shows the relative humidity. And i overlaid it with colors that show the wind speeds. You can look at how that correlates to wind speeds from 10 up to 50 miles per hour. The brighter colors indicating the higher winds. So as the humidity drops today, and we even get down into the 20s and teens as far as the relative humidity, the winds at some point during the day, especially along the coast, will be at about 20 to 25 miles per hour. And may gust up to 45. So were watching that, were really dry here. Theyre just getting soaked across the south as what was Tropical Storm cristobal continues to move further to the north. Look at all the rain it continues to bring across mississippi and alabama, moving into arkansas. And this is going to be a problem, even all the way up through the upper mississippi valley, as we see this moving all the way up towards wisconsin over the next few days. So this is going to continue to track northward, while its dumping some heavy rain across the midwest. As we bring it back home, we are going to have some nice, warm weather today. But as you look at that sevenday forecast at the bottom of the screen, you can see those temperatures will spike in some of our inland microclimates. So today, its going to be relatively mild. A little warmer than it was yesterday, as we reach up to the mid 80s for parts of the inland east bay. Along the coast, 60s and 70s. In santa rosa, reaching up to 84 degrees. And in san jose, were looking at a high of 80 degrees. As we this forecast, that High Pressure builds and well see our temperatures going up. But then High Pressure backs off and it will make way for a storm system just to the north. That will bring in cooler air, big changes ahead as we see the temperatures going up and then back down. But still no rain here as we go through the rest of this forecast. So our seven day shows well be in the low 80s today. Mid 80s tomorrow. And then peaking at 90 degrees on wednesday. After that, it cools down fairly quickly on friday and then starts to warm back up once again. So were still on this roller coaster, chris. Temperatures going up and down and were heading up right now. A little smoother than last week, though. Kari, thank you very much.
