It is getting the attention most certainly of parents of Young Children across the bay area. Today in the bays thom jensen joins us live from palo alto with more on this little babys recovery and the warning signs parents need to look out for. Good morning, tom. Reporter good morning. This may have been one of the first cases of this rare disease, this new disease here in the united states. The child was here at Lucille PackardChildrens Hospital in palo alto in midmarch when this diagnosis first came down, this syndrome called pediatric multisymptmulti symptom inflammatory syndrome which is linked to covid19 including here in california. Its troubling because kids can develop heart problems associated with this. Three children, in fact, in new york have died from this new disease and the state is investigating two more deaths in Children Associated with this. According to a report in the San Francisco chronicle there was a 6monthold child here at Lucille PackardChildrens Hospital on march 16th who was diagnosed with coronavirus, a positive test for coronavirus, originally diagnosed with a rare disease, inflammatory disease called kawasaki. The doctor contacted other doctors in new york and around the country and able to link this to covid19 and this new syndrome. Now here are some symptoms that parents are going to want to watch out for. Health officials are warning parents to look for prolonged fevers of five plus days, difficu difficulty feeding infants or kids with severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, trouble breathing and rapid breathing, a racing heartbeat, decreased urination, lethargy and confusion. The mercury news is reporting four zip codes seen here on this map saw more than a third of the first 100 deaths in the nation. The region made up mostly of latino is one of the poorest in Santa Clara County and has a death rate four times higher than wealthier areas. It was a nice day with the family at home. And so now as were starting out the new week its nice to also get the treat of light rain moving in. Let me show you the storm system we have approaching the bay area and as it moves closer it will bring in a chance of some showers mostly later on this evening but it will first start out in the north bay and work its way into the rest of the bay area even by 1 00 were starting to see at least some spotty showers up around santa rosa moving to napa and fairfield and going into this evening we can see the rain starting to move in. By 7 00 that evening commute may be soggy as the off and on showers start to move in. This is not a really strong storm system but it will bring in at least some times of light rain moving in. As we go into tonight as well as tomorrow still looking at some of the showers passing by even on wednesday will have a chance of rain. So it looks like we could start out with a wet weather pattern for thisin we may see up to hal inch of rain in parts of inch o may be some spots like the south bay where we off get rain shadows. We could barely see anything in some of these spots. Well have to watch this. At least we are going to have more humidity in the air and were going to counter balance that high heat we had at the end of last week. There will be another storm system moving in by the end of the weekend so there may be more rain coming in on sunday. As we look at this sevenday forecast very near normal temperatures for this time of year, maybe even slightly below as we see our highs in the low 70s for the inland weep get these storm systems moving out for a couple days. And by friday we could see a high of 80 degrees. Then it does cool back down by the end of the weekend as that new storm system approaches. So a little bit of some wet weather to watch here, mike. And the spike of for the 80. Ill take that. We had 90s before. The traffic flow will be an issue with that rain. Very calm and clear as you look at the maps. We have green sensors all over the big map as we show you all sides of the bay or all around the bay. I want to move the camera up and talk about one issue chp gave overnight, a wind advisory for the carquinez bridge across i80 into or out of Contra Costa County and over on 680 you see that right under the u in walnut create. There is a crash off the for the grid. The grid did get active thursday and friday, so keep that in mind. We may be seeing more cars. Looking over for a live look out of oakland looking at 880 and a good volume of traffic. Thats pretty indicative of a lot of our traffic shots, seeing a good number of cars in san jose as well as across the san mateo bridge. New overnight in Contra Costa County firefighters are trying to figure out how a fire started early this morning at mt. Hood in concord. That fire broke out in an abandoned building on mt. Hood circle not too far, some roads were shut down back in february. There was another fire in the same area in an empty building.
