Developing news overnight, were hearing that tesla will resume limb ta limited operations in free month. Today in the bays bob redell this morning has more. This is a surprise to many. Reporter it is and the question is will tesla be in violation of the county order even though Governor Newsom had set new rules to allow manufacturing in california. Alameda county has a shelter in place order. Weve reached out to the Alameda CountySheriffs Office still waiting to hear comments. The Sheriffs Office did tell reuters that the state order announced yesterday does not supersede the county order. Not clear what, if anything, the Sheriffs Office or other authorities might do or actions they might take if tesla reopens today. Tesla told its employees that it would resume limited operations with only about 30 of the employees who would normally be working on a given shift. Cnbc points out its not clear how they can build vehicles with that reduced head count. Tesla writes Alameda Countys shelter in place faqs on their website state energy manufacturing, which includes electric vehicles, is still permitted. You might recall for a brief time back in march that tesla stayed open in defiance of the stayathome order before finally shutting down. And San Francisco will soon be loosening some restrictions for retailers. The new rules will allow storefront pickup at a limited number of shops starting on may 18th. The store just for fun and scribbledoodles has been delivered games and gifts since the shutdown began in march. Being allowed to offer storefront pickup is a step forward but wont pay the bills. It will serve the community well. It wont do anything for our business because we simply cant do enough volume to pay the rent. The Mayors Office says more information about what is expected from retailers will be released next week. A handful of dmv offices are opening across the state including right here in the bay area. The dmv says it hopes to help drivers who are required to show up in person for license and vehicle registration for renewal. Locations will be back open very soon. Today airport commissioners will discuss what to do with the 200 million it received in federal stimulus money. Like most airports, air travel at sfo is down more than 90 these days. Weekly jobless claims show more than 33 million americans have filed for unemployment over the past seven weeks. This morning the government releases the april jobs report before the opening bell. Expected 21 million jobs lost last month meaning nearly all the job growth since the financial crisis has vanished in one month. Unemployment could reach 16 or more, and we have to keep in mind these numbers may not fully reflect the damage coronavirus has inflicted on our economy. Many people who are still working have had their hours cut and some who lost their jobs and didnt look for new ones will not be counted as unemployed. Frontier airlines is the first carrier to mandate temperature checks for passengers and crew members before they can board a plane. June 1st everyone will be checked at the gate if your temperature is above 100. 4. If a second check is too high, you will not be able to board.
