I read about a cow in wisconsin that wandered into someones property and took a dip in their swimming pool. And as she walked out of the pool, every bull slowly pulled down their sunglasses. Finally, i saw that tomorrow is take our daughters and sons to workday or as thats now called, every single day that is our monologue everybody. Meas bears and animals Walking Around in national parks, just coming out because theres no humans and theyre like, wait, we can do this. And youre like, yeah, you can always this is your land. You can do this. So i mean, there is something to i think were all kind of getting that but ive seen these reports everywhere that, yeah, we should take care of the earth more than we do. And sometimes we take a little bit of advantage and its the Little Things its the turning off the tap of water or, you know, not driving to the store and walking to the store, you know, wearing a face mask, of course. Jane goodall who has a new documentary on National Geographic right now it premiered today, actually shes just working so hard with roots and shoots and everything you couldnt even imagine. And there she goes, deep into the trees of pool noodle forest as you can see from the overhead, theres really only one viable path out of the woods through the center but it looks like peppers found herself in a pickle box. Shell have to make her way up the noodle stairs first. And then use some of that Upper Body Strength to get her to the top of the slip. And, boom, smooth as silk. You know what im saying like, seeing those guys on stage. Different groups that i couldnt even name on stage. But they used to be like killing it jimmy yeah it was loud, aggressive it was crazy so i think that kind of stuck with me, you know, as i moved forward and started recording. You know what im saying just being around that scene jimmy youre also doing a thing that i thought was really cool on instagram called the cool down. Yeah. Its me connecting with real people i felt like, you know what sometimes, you know people, you know, can be celebrities and they can obtain a certain amount of success and they can be living a certain type of life and get disconnected from real people, man so its like, why not reach out to people, see how theyre doing, send them words of encouragement, share some love, communicate with them. It may not be the same as me performing which can happen at some point too but it allows me to really understand where people are at connect with people and send them words of encouragement. And for me, thats really important. And this is not about you know, for me, its not about politics its not about like, you know, you vote for who you want. Do what you want, but humanity you know what im saying like on a human level, we just need to care about each other. This is the famous mr. H. I think [ laughter ] and ive had him for 25 years and hes been to 65 countries amd he symbolizes the indomitable humans spirit cause he was given to me by a a guy who went blind at 21 and has actually taught himself to paint. Hes is an extraordinary man so mr. H symbolizes that indomitable spirit jimmy i love mr. H he was on our show last time when you and i talked. So i was going to bring him up anyways after you brought him on hi, mr. H. Ive heard that youre busier than ever. I mean, i keep seeing you pop up youre online and youre posting and youre doing video chats. And i think its amazing what youre doing im actually more busy than on the tour. I mean, way more because im trying to send video messages to, you know, to encourage all the people on the ground working in africa. Were very concerned about that im sending messages to the 24 other Jane Goodall Institutes trying to you know, just gives them reason for hope jimmy oh, absolutely your lifting spirit every time we see you i saw one episode of story time with dr. Jane. Can you talk a little bit about that yeah. Well, i thought, you know, all these children who come to school and parents who are kind of worried about how they can cope with them and do their other office work from home and so ive been reading stories about the chimpanzee family, elephant family, so on jimmy yeah the little children but now, ive begun doing other messages and also ive begun reading in the shadow of man, the first chimpanzee book wrote back in 1972, i think it was jimmy oh, my gosh. 1972 do you remember like what your mom said when you said, im going to go to africa and work with chimpanzees and write about it. Well, actually, i was 10 years old and i read dr. Dolittle and tarzan. And we didnt know anything about chimpanzees back then. I just dreamed of going to africa, living with wild animals and writing books about them so everybody laughed at me how would i do it . We didnt have money world war ii was raging. I was just a girl. Girls didnt do that sort of thing. Jimmy wow. If you really want to do Something Like this, youre going to have to work extraordinarily hard, learn everything you can about what you want to do take advantage of every opportunity. But if you still continue wanting to do it and you dont give up, then youre probably find a way and i did. I got there. Jimmy last time you were on the show, i told you i have two little girls now theyre 6 and 5. And obviously, im a fan i wanted them to know who you are. And so we had a painting of you put up in my living room and i told them all about stuff weve done together and what youve done with even roots and shoots which i know continues to thrive and actually, you have a weekly schedule for kids on roots and shoots things that kids can do and like just to parents are looking for that yeah. And you know, they can read books online if theyre older, they can look at documentaries its a wonderful chance to actually learn about things that they want to learn about, not just School Curriculum although, many children are doing, you know, Classes Online they want to do everything [ laughter ] jimmy its true.
