This is where we come in. Hes making it easy to step up with a new volunteer website, californians for all. It was unveiled today during his briefing. You can sign up for a job that interests you or you can pinpoint other needs in your neighborhood. If youre healthy and you can make a difference in your community, we need you at food banks. We need you giving blood. We need you delivering meals, and we need you joining us. If you want to stay at home to be safe, you can still make an enormous difference in our state and communities everywhere. The governor was angered by a report that a hospital is reportedly withholding protective gear from its staff. Governor newsom says he is looking into it. He added that he wont wear an n95 mask until every nurse in the state has enough n95 masks. It is takeout tuesday, reminder to order dinner to support local restaurants, one of the hardest hit industries during the pandemic. Will it be enough to keep restaurants in business . Raj mathai joins us now. Raj, its a reality weve been hearing, even if we come back in a couple of weeks with the social distancing guidelines, a lot of restaurants wont be able to ride the wave. They wont. The good news is as a community were doing our best and these restaurants are appreciative of all of us doing these takeout orders. Beginning right now, restaurants are closing down or will start to close down in the next few months. Lets start in downtown palo alto. This city hit especially hard, the reason being so many tech firms Holding Meetings and events coupled with stanford university, business is expected to plummet there in palo alto. Dan gordons just closed for good. Its been around for decades. Hes hoping for the best for other owners, says changes must be made. Realistically, how many restaurants will be able to stay in business if im talking to you this Time Next Year . Oh, the outlook amongst my personal surveys of some of the top restaurateurs and looking at some internal and industry economics, one in three are going to be out of business. Dan, you close doors in palo alto. Palo alto is similar to so many other cities around the bay area, three things of advice you can give to the mayor of palo alto or Governor Newsom about the restaurants to stay in business. The first thing is to eliminate any fictitious dates that are random for when societys going to gather again. Everybody can go out and feel safe at this point in time, the psychological waiting is the worst thing. That creates so much uncertainty and expectational is what its all about. We need to have that relief. The ppp program has to be revised for restaurateurs. Thats a federal local but certainly government for that. And we need breathing room on operating costs. And if the State Government can reconsider some of the guidelines of increased minimum wage, maybe just holding it and applying basic minimum wage to the entire scene as opposed to cities shutting their own, those are the three things that will make it magical. I know youre still brewing a lot of beer in your facility in san jose. We wish you the best. Thank you so much, raj. Remember takeout tuesday. Still optimistic is dan gordon. For longer stronger coughs, it gets up to 12 feet. Scientists at Florida AtlanticUniversity Conducted the study. It shows how important it is to wear a mask or Face Covering not only to protect yourself but to stop your germs when you cough or sneeze. And its why social distancing as you can see is so important. Jessica. Okay. Reunited after four months. Police finally track down a dog stolen right outside of a San Francisco grocery store. This is one of many issues when it comes to the class of 2020. So many life long memories that arent going to happen like graduation ceremonies. A lot of parents posting their senior pictures on my Facebook Page of their sons and daughters. Julia, katelyn, serenity, sharia. The list goes on. All of these young men and women losing out on prom, senior party, and just being with their friends really. Its a little disappointing having worked up to this point in my life and then all of its taken away by a virus. Its a huge adjustment. But im trying to stay positive, especially since lots of people have it out worse than i do. Katelyn, any thoughts on your end about maybe not going away to college next semester later this year and instead just going to a jc . Yes, i did consider that for a bit and i do think that it would be a good option if we are still required to pay the full tuition. And i think that Community College would be a good option if thats the case. Would you rather go away to a college in four years . Yeah, i would 100 rather go away. It makes a lot of sense financially, but emotionally they work so hard to get into college and both those young ladies are scheduled to go away. Right now a lot of family discussions. With your age daughters youre going through similar issues. Will be curious to see if Junior College enrollment goes up in the fall and what the ucs and states are doing. Can you really afford to pay 25, 30, 45,000 for school when youre doing it online . Thats just a hard pill for a lot of people to swallow, raj. Thank you. Well see you in a little bit.
