Solving Critical Issues as they arise. Go to xfinity. Com prepare. Thank you. Talk about some eerie timing. Just as the coronavirus really started to spread in january, a Netflix Documentary premiered called pandemic. It warned of the risk a respiratory virus could pose to the world and the impact to the health care system. Joining me now is jeremiah crowell, executive producer and show runner of pandemic a 0. 0 production. Your docuseries shot back at 2018 and 2019 being watched by a lot of people for obvious reasons. Did you ever think in your craziest thoughts it would premiere during a pandemic . Absolutely not. It has been the strangest slow motion nightmare i could have imagined. You know, when i started this project, i thought i didnt know anything about pandemics. I didnt know anything about viral pandemics, and i expected most people didnt. For me, it was a year of getting to learn about the real threat this can be, and then i woke up, and there we were in a pandemic. And now its just gotten worse and worse. Its really been like a nightmare. You were researching pandemics obviously. Are you surprised that all the world was not prepared, it seemed, very much at all for the coronavirus . Unfortunately, no. Thats one thing i was very prepared for. The theme of pandemic is that the world is not prepared to deal with an outbreak. We had hoped that the series would be an alarm call for everyone to wake up around the world and start to put resources and attention on this. Instead, the real pandemic came, and so thats whats happening now, but a little too late. Any thoughts . You went through all the research, and now heres the real thing. Any thoughts on what the world could be doing better right now from all the experts you talked to . No. I think right now with the resources that we have and the supplies that we have because we didnt plan far enough in advance for this, people are doing the best job that they can. You know, we focus the documentary on the men and women who had been preparing for this for 15, 20 years, who are out there in the world every day, who are unseen, dont have a spotlight on them until now. And now its those same people that are in the documentary who are now working overtime to help us get through this. And i know these people are pretty skilled, so i feel good about that. Yeah, and they are beiso. How has this series been received . It seems like its been received very well. Its a strange honor to know that its been trending really high in netflix statistics because i know that people are just looking for something to give them a little bit of solace in this time. I think a lot of people some people go towards entertainment and they just want to get away from anything related to the pandemic. And another big part of the population wants to get everything they can possibly get their hands on. And im glad that we made this project so that people who are looking for that can get some levelheaded, interesting advice and a real look into the inside of this thing. Okay. It is called pandemic. It is on netflix. Thanks very much for taking the time to talk to us. Thank you for having me. Byebye. There were too many people at santa cruz beaches again yesterday. I guess riley has gone to have some dinner perhaps. Rob joining us now with a talk about obviously rain behind him right now. Weve been seeing a lot. Actually the most rain right now through the day for part of the east bay and trivalley is happening right now. Well start you off in San Francisco. What youre seeing there is rain drops on the lens from what fell a bit earlier today. A high of 59 degrees. Currently 54 and still a few light showers passing by. San jose, mostly cloudy skies, a few hit and miss showers. Highs tomorrow will be a couple degrees cooler. Speaking of cooler, how about that view . Up towards the resort at squaw creek, numbers in the mid30s. And for the sierra, this is big for april standards. Theyre talking two to three feet of snow. Look at the numbers by kirkwood. Between now and 11 00 tomorrow night, could be looking at three feet of new snow. Snow levels as low as 3,000 to 4,000 feet. The north bay not seeing a whole lot. San jose seeing a few showers. Most of the rain is over the Santa Cruz Mountains. More rain as you move up the sunol grade and right there into the trivalley, east bay, Contra Costa County out to concord. A few showers closer to San Francisco and at least for now, the north bay not seeing a whole lot. But that will change as we head towards tomorrow morning. Clearly satellite view shows you our next storm dropping down the coast. Thats going to have cold air support for pretty interesting weather. Tomorrow morning youll notice the winds start to pick up before sunrise. Winds of 15 to 30 Miles Per Hour and rain starting to fill in once again from the north bay moving south. Highs tomorrow for the most part in the mid to upper 50s. Rain at times, wind, and a chance of Thunder Showers at time. As we go through the morning before sunrise, areas around morgan hill, Santa Cruz Mountains will probably see the rain start to pick up. Then that standard rain moves out of the north bay. Right around midday youll notice some of the higher reflectist values right around noon indicating that might be our thunderstorm environment. As we head through the afternoon. Then by 5 00, more of the intense showers should start to move on out as we see rain starting to decrease. That same storm by the way, typical of what weve seen over the last couple weeks, drops into southern californias. Showers into monday and tuesday. Wednesday is our transition day. Upp High Pressure starting to strengthen and the temperatures are going to start to climb on up. Were talking numbers from the 60s and possibly 70s as we head towards next weekend. So a look now at your sevenday forecast. Unsettled weather tomorrow. Showers through about tuesday. Warmer for San Francisco. Mid60s next weekend. Inland locations climbing through the 70s as we head towards this time next weekend. So weve got this winterlike pattern setting up for this weekend both in the sierra and around the bay area. But the longrange forecast is starting to trend warmer and drier as we approach next weekend. Terry, back to you. Rob, great job working from home. I mean it. Thanks very much.
