We are gathering information on a second employee that may have tested positive with coronavirus. Certainly due to patient confidentiality, we will not be sharing information about individuals, but we will be shafering information about how we are managing and working through those issues to ensure the safety of our employees tapped safety of our community. Reporter so we had is came questions you did, where were they infected . The city is in a tricky position right now. They are trying to respect the privacy of that fire fighter and also call for transparency from the tsa. We have three tsa agents here confirmed with the coronavirus. More than 40 other tsa agents under quarantine as a precaution. And these city leaders and members of congress have been pressing the tsa to explain when those folks were on the job and whether or not there is a risk to the public of transmission. What we have been able confirm, kind of in a round about way going around the ts za that the three agents who tested positive were working here in terminal b this serves primarily alaska and southwest and that 42 more agents are in quarantine after coming into contact with them. That first agent to test positive was at the airport more than two weeks ago. But we know that that person is still under quarantine at this point. Now, airport leaders have been asked is there a possibility that sjc is going to shut down and there was an emphatic no, not only from the assistant director of aviation here at the airport, but also from the mayor that sjc is opened for business and that even before these three cases were confirmed, they have been doing deep cleaning and they have been doing increasing sanitation in the public areas and now theyve started doing sanitation of the two security checkpoints as well. But really, the big news coming out of this today is that we have one fire fighter, potentially two who are positive for coronavirus. We dont know how they were infected. We dont know whether it was on the job or not. We know at least 50 people are also under quarantine, fellow fire fighters, we know they eat meals together, live together, spend a lot of time together, so the question was also whether or not that would impact response times for anybody living in the city of san jose. The assistant fire chief said that theyre calling in people on their days off, extending hours. They are making sure the public need is met while they are also thinking about their clear, especially the one in the hospital. Kris sanchez, nbc bay area news. The European Union is lashing out to President Trumps restriction of travel from europe to the u. S. The eu is rejecting the president s suggestion that europe is not doing enough to combat coronavirus. It went on to say that the illness quote does not respect borders. The president s ban impacts most of all travel from europe for the next 30 days. It takes effect at midnight tomorrow. Close at home, governor gavin newsom is proposing a new plan to stop the coronavirus. He worked with the department of health to talk about what new set of recommendations, first, he wants to can sell all marked gatherings of 250 people and wants to can sell small gatherings to do not allow social distancing and he wants to limit events involving people at high risk of getting the virus to less tan ten people. What about the people that live around that area, what are they saying . Reporter well, this is the fairfield inn and suites off san carlos. Its not located in a residential area. And there are fm the state and the feds that pe 120 people here would not be posing a risk to people in san carlos. There are a couple ambulances that have been stationed out here. If you look over there, you can see there is security. You look at the hotel, you see thetel and there have been peope with cal oes, the office of emergency services, bringing supplies preparing for the arrival of these passengers. Again, san mat . Eo county says the federal and state authorities assure them the people quarantined pose no threat to the people of san carlos. The people quarantined here are american citizens who dont require hospitalization and have mild or no symptoms of covid19 and they will be tested and monitored during their stay here. The cruise ship carried more than 135 passengers and crew and 21 who tested positive for covid19. More than 650 of the passengers have been quarantined at Travis Air Force base in miramar and san diego. Once those locations became full, the state chose this location because one hospital, excuse me the hotel is unoccupied, two, its close to sfo. San mateo county and the city of san carlos are urging residents to show compassion for people stuck here on quarantine. If this was happening to me or a member of my family, i would hope the community we travel to would be as equally welcoming. These people are like, well, i dont want them walking around. Theyre going to come down town. Theyre in quarantine. That means they can stay inside. If they can walk around, theyd send them home. You have a Princess Cruises putting on what they call a pause on the Global Operations for at least the next 60 days. It was all in response to coronavirus cases or covid19 cases found on its ships. The most notable one is the one docked over there in oakland. We talked about the grand princess cruise ship which has been docked since monday. As bob reported not too long ago, there were thousands of passengers that disemparked from that ship and were quarantined at military bases around the country. Now, this is, of course, a response to those 21 cases of covid19 that were found on that ship, which actually left here from pier 27 in San Francisco back in february. Heres the president of that cruise line in the media, as she posted on social media talking about todays decision. This is perhaps the most difficult decision in our history. Bleach works for everything and the lie sol are working well. Theyre all recommended by the cdc. If youve already got it in the house, you can use that. Reporter what about this . People use sponges . Its less than ideal, it holds germs inside it. You could spread skwerms with that. Reporter the next step is key. Doctors suggest using cleaning gloves. Dont wipe it dry. You want to make sure they are washing them with family clothes is fine. Use enough of the pods or deter gents to make sure you get a good soapy mix and wash normally. Does it make a difference if are you using hot water or cold water . Hot water is better than cold water if the clothing will tolerate it . Soapy cold water is fine and dry as high heat as possible. And this morning the route monitor came out with this updated look at what we are seeing the conditions we have across the state. Last week 48 was senate drought. Now we have 48 . We get a closer look of the bay area that includes parts of the peninsula, east bay towards so la no county. Solano county. We are also seeing more abnormally dry conditions. But the good news the that this time with the update, were seeing a significant storm that will be moving in. Its till well to the southwest of us. We have today and tomorrow with dry weather. That will start to come in as we go towards the weekend. Lets time it out. We see still a mostly clear sky today as well as most of the day tomorrow. As we take the time line into early saturday morning, this is where we start to see that rain moving in. It starts out scattered. Then it starts to become more widespread, going into the evening, it also will be light. But we could see some waves of heavy rain moving through on sunday as they rain continues. Both of the computer models are showing over an inchandahalf of rain between now and next thursday. So its really good to see that over the course of the several days when that storm moves in, that we could get a pretty good soaking here. They have been pretty consistent in showing that amount of snow, that amount of rain as well as this amount of snow that we are seeing looking at the sierra. So areas like South Lake Tahoe can get over 20 inches of snow, just for the weekend and there is more coming next week. So we have great news here in the weather department.
